The FBI is helping gym rats looking to stay in shape during the coronavirus lockdown by promoting a fitness app — but it requires users to provide their GPS coordinates. The law enforcement agency urged people in a Monday tweet to “download the FBI’s Physical Fitness Test app to learn proper form for exercises you can do at home like pushups and situps.” The catch is that the FBI FitTest created in 2018 uses the “phone’s GPS and accelerometer,” which the FBI claims provides the user a “more realistic PFT experience.”

Pushups? Situps? Gee - - what are those things?
Here's what I'm gonna do - - I'm gonna give the FBI the passwords to my bank accounts - - just so I can find out.

Nice try, fbi. But, you are not getting my guns. Not now. Not ever.

Stay in your lane bro!
By the way, I'm not telling my government on the census form: my phone number, email address and whether I have a mortgage on my house.

Oh, certainly! If there's any outfit I trust, it's our modern FIB. It should crawl into a hole and die.

Smart phones are bad enough... I refuse any app that can track my personal health.. period.
I don’t need another reason to have big government looking into my private life.

Shouldn't exercise and physical exertion be banned? I see these people running and breathing hard, likely expelling more infectious aerosols than if at rest, crop-dusting the environment with the lethal viruses they may carry. You know, we cannot be too careful in these days of deadly crisis facing all of us. Stop the pandemic madness! Protect yourself and your neighbors. Stay home. Wear masks and take slower breaths. Drink bottled water. Lock your doors. Lives are at stake. The government is looking out for you!

Really FBI? But you won't accept electronic FOIA requests during this COVI-19 crisis.

I'm suspicious of the census form as well - wanting my home ownership, mortgage info, and then names and birth dates. I quit the online form at that point. There was no option to skip questions - it wouldn't go on without the blanks filled in. I'm still thinking about what to do.

This app served the Army very well in Syria by making soldiers locations available to the enemy. I now trust the FBI about as much as a Coral Snake hidden in my house.

Sorry for the second post, but I need to add that I'm suspicious of Census assurances of confidentiality. I worked for a Federal agency many years ago, and then 10 years after I left, was notified that a security clearance data base with all my personal information had been hacked and my information (along with that of thousands of my former coworkers) had been stolen. There was no reason to maintain that information in an online data base (or at all) since I no longer had a clearance or worked at that agency, yet there it was 10 years later, with lax security, waiting for the right hacker to take it. Between that and the FBI attempted coup, I no longer trust my government.

Didn't the courts decide that it is lawful for the police (the FBI are a policing agency) to lie in pursuit of wrong doing? But, it's just a fitness app, right?

Call me crazy considering everything the gumment already knows, but I'm going to sign up for a free trial VPN to hide my IP before I fill out the census.

For the census, I can't decide if my race is 'horse' or 'drag.'

#9 It took a lot of searching (because they don't want you to find it), but I found the mailing address for my region, printed off the form and completed only what they needed to know. Two people over 65, married. All they NEED is a head count to determine representatives in congress and federal funding.
