Seriously sick coronavirus patients in New York state’s largest hospital system are being given massive doses of vitamin C — based on promising reports that it’s helped people in hard-hit China, The Post has learned. Dr. Andrew G. Weber, a pulmonologist and critical-care specialist affiliated with two Northwell Health facilities on Long Island, said his intensive-care patients with the coronavirus immediately receive 1,500 milligrams of intravenous vitamin C. Identical amounts of the powerful antioxidant are then re-administered three or four times a day, he said.

My sister always tells us to take 1000 mg every hour when coming down with a cold or flu. I can't take all that ascorbic acid, but it might be worth a trip to the health food store to see if they have some buffered C. ?maybe?

At last. Something I have and it doesn't require a prescription. Currently I take 2,000 mg per day. Linus Pauling may have known something.

My urologist informed me that one of the reasons I ended up in the ICU with urosepsis was due to a kidney stone that developed because of taking larger than usual doses of Vit C. I had no idea that was a possible side effect. and I have an issue with chronic kidney stone formation. He said NO extra vitamin C supplementation period, ever. If you have a history of kidney stones, high dose Vit C may not be a good idea.

There is a buffered Vitamin C in powder form. Good to take every day.

I have in the past used Vit C in large doses to fix these sort of problems. Six grams of Vit C is not really that much although intravenously is likely more effective than oral ingestion. I’m a fan. I approve. I have taken something around 25 grams a day when I was younger. As one poster says I do think it resulted in a kidney stone although it was about twenty years later that it showed up.

I have Redoxon Vitamin C tablets so will start right away on them. I also take once a day Airborne with Vit. C and Zinc and also have Zicam for only Zinc. But my doctor denied me a Coronavirus test unless I had over 100 F and I only made it to 99.1 for a whole week. The California Communists will let US die at home to protect contagion to their Pansy nurses and social case workers.

Hmmm. I take a Vitamin C every day, but only 500 mg.
I hope it helps, but I'm skeptical. Not likely to hurt, and who knows, might help.

Any evidence that Vitamin C is working? Are they also giving patients a choice to try chloroquine, and, if so, is it working? Or is it better to let people die than to admit “Trump’s drug” is working?

I would not start any treatment that is "based on promising reports from China".
China has lied their way through this whole mess.

I saw a video of a Dr giving talk how he used high dose IV vitamin c for ARDS with good outcome.
He has been researching it for long time.

For me, too much vitamin C causes mouth sores. I take Elderflower(Sambucus) 400 mg once a day but during times of stress ir if I feel like a cold is coming on, I go to 3x a day. Been on these for a long time. I buy mine online.

Complete apocryphal, but I usually start taking extra Vitamin C when I feel cold symptoms coming on. Don't usually get many colds, but I hope this will help.

People with chronic kidney disease should check with their nephrologist before taking large doses of vitamin C.

Years ago I was at a presentation made by a retired Dentist about vitamin C. He spent over 2000 hours going thru ALL the research on the subject and concluded what, with the onset of a viral illness, one should increase their C consumption by 5 grams (5000 milligrams) a day. My stomach can't take the regular tabs but I love the chewables. Space them out thru the day. I usually up my consumption by 6-7 grams. I've avoided bad flu bugs for years this way.
The Dentist was angry about the fact that research on C was suppressed. Because ascorbic acid C is cheap and plentiful, the people who make money off treatments would always look elsewhere while this has been staring us in the face.

They are also treating patients with the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, you know, the one the media attacked President Trump for mentioning, the same one the Governor of Nevada just made it illegal to be prescribed for the coroonavirus in his state.
