Grocery stores are taking drastic steps to keep customers as safe as possible during the coronavirus pandemic, including social distancing reminders in the aisles. But what about the bags we're all using? Weis Markets has a new policy starting Monday, that reusable bags are no longer allowed for use in the store. The company says it's for the safety of the customers and their employees.

Did anyone check with the epa hippie types about this? We had to go plastic because of the trees. Then the plastic was a no no because of landfill, so we got reuseable bags. I give up. Next we'll all have to learn to juggle our goods to the car.

I'm shocked that liberals are willing to sacrifice Mother Earth to save a few miseraable human lives. Shocked!

As usual nobody factored in the consequences of dumping the tried and true and promoting the latest fad. And they say they are the party of science. We reused paper bags for decades and did the same with the plastic. I use them for everything.
As far as polluting the oceans, it's the Left's best friend, Red China, who has been shoveling them into the sea. I also don't understand how the bags take thousands of years to decompose when half of them fall apart between the car and the house.

Burn up mother earth by using sanitary, oil bi-product plastic bags, or wipe out humanity by spreading the plague using re-usable bags.
Choices, choices.

The best use of these "personal bags" would be to place them over the head.

Seriously? Get a freaking grip Lefties. If you aren't adult enough to wash your bags after a trip to the store, that is your problem. Keep your mitts and bazoos out of the lives of the rest of us, okay?

Saw an article 10 years ago at least that said, all things considered, plastic bags used less energy to produce and dispose of. It talked about how the environmentalists completely ignored the science. Anyone else remember the article? Would love to find it again...

We have plastic because they whined we cut down trees. I don't like reusable germ infested bags. Last week the young man behind me pulled a couple of large packages of raw chicken out of a reusable bag and put them on the belt. When I asked about germs he said he didn't really worry about stuff like that. He will probably live forever.

I spray my reusable bags with Lysol after wash use, and I NEVER put raw meat in them without first wrapping it in plastic bags.
If someone were to watch me when I am preparing raw chicken, you would think I was OCD with as many times as I wash my hands!! Raw meat bacteria is nothing to take chances with!! And I say this from personal experience, salmonella from improperly handled chicken is one of the most unpleasant experiences you will ever have!!!

Those reusable bags are a cesspool of bad bugs.
People are supposed to wash them after use,but hardly ever sanitize them.

Stores bought into self-checkout lanes and reusable bags. By doing these things, they actually lose the control of cleanliness, sanitation, and possibility of theft. I have tried several times to use the self-checkout and refuse to unless I have one item only.
