Last week, President Trump held a press conference in the White House Rose Garden introducing his coronavirus task force to the nation. Familiar faces like Vice President Mike Pence, Dr. Anthony Fauci and a handful of CEOs provided the backdrop. Then, through the sea of men in standard-issue stodgy business suits and striped ties in primary colors, stepped forward a 60ish blond woman who looked like Renée Zellweger might play her in a future blockbuster. She had a tranquil demeanor and a serious but airy voice that acted as a release valve on the pressure cooker we had suddenly found ourselves in.

Here come the Daily Mail-type reporters with their superfiial little reports. Kirsten, men wear suits. Especially men of substance who have positions of great responsibility and expect to be taken seriously. Dr. Birx looks and dresses like women I know in business and in private life. Trying to relate her to actress Renee Zellweger is just more superficiality. Birx’s brain could run rings around Zellweger’s. Birx is a professional, highly trained, highly experienced. Why don’t you move on to something more suitable.

My wife is amazed at the number of scarfs Dr Birx is sporting each day. Dr Birx should have her own fashion line on scarfs.

Fashion icon? Really? You have to be kidding. Nothing against Birx, a very nice, smart, accomplished woman, but "fashion" at a time like this? Pretty foolish and irrelevant.

Call me shallow, but I am interested in articles like this. Dr. Birx does have great fashion style. I don't trust women, like HIllary Clinton, who don't care about their looks or style. Remember her greasy hair and coke-bottle eyeglasses when she was Secretary of State? That was the real Hillary. And this goes for men, too, which is why they are wearing business suits and ties.

Don’t get me wrong. Dr. Birx is an incredibly impressive woman in many ways, including her appearance and demeanor. But this article is superficial to the max.

I thought the article was nice. Well written, thoughtful, and the author did a good job of respecting and valuing femininity while highlighting a woman's accomplishments.
Seemed like a Proverbs 31 article to me. I was pleased.

Why yes, this article is a bit o'fluff. So? If you don't want to read it, move on.
I guess you have to be a woman, especially a middle to older age woman, to actually appreciate this. In the present age of every store carrying clothing most appropriate to fetuses or ahem... street walkers, seeing a mature woman modestly, tastfully, and professionally well tailored yet not rigid and stiff like Hillary or Nancy is impressive. Dr. Birx exhibits a poise and demeanour women need to see now. She is calm, informative, and educational without being stodgy and dry. I appreciate Dr. Birx's presence.

Her "power dress" is a set of ACUs (Army Combat Uniform) with a Colonel's eagle on it. She doesn't need to dress up, because she is competent professional who is doing her job (unlike so many of the phonies who hide behind white pant suits and power reds on capitol hill).

Dr. Birx is a retired Colonel, U.S. Army. she spent about 30 years dressing in uniform. she is a stately woman, and proved that a wide belt on her dress doesn't have to make a tall woman look silly, the way the Manly Michelle Obola looks.
Her answers to questions, even silly ones from scientifically illiterate reporters, are comforting, clear, concise, accurate.
I could see her as secretary of HHS.

OK... It's silly but kind of refreshing to hear something that isn't all doom and gloom.

I’ve enjoyed seeing what Dr. Birx is wearing. Print fabrics, scarves, frillls, etc. so refreshing. The ladies on Fox all wear The same basic dress, different colors, short or long sleeves, but the same basic darn dress, every day. Booorrrring!

My apologies, #5 made me realize that this is one of the interesting differences between men and women.
Guys don't care, gals do.
Vive la difference!

I happen to like her clothes. I am tired of women in pants suits and killer high heeled shoes.

#8 - Yes, Dr. Birx refreshingly shows that a woman can be intelligent, accomplished and successful, and still be a lady. Her poise, posture and demeanor add to her stature and, dare I say, her "legitimacy". The handmaidens of Satan that populate the ranks of "progressive" communists have beaten women over the head that to be taken seriously they need to dress like men, act like men and talk like men. They have forced upon us the most hideous of fashions; either its blue jeans and t-shirts for everyone, or severe male-tailored business suits for professional women.
My town for "clothes" shopping is 40 miles away. I went looking for a new dress for Christmas. Not one dress, not even a rack of skirts, could be found at Penny's, Kohl's or the independent shops. I'd love to support my local stores, but all they carry is carp for teenagers and 20 somethings. I'm shopping on-line and finding many sites that offer lovely dresses, such as Dr. Birx, for mature women who enjoy being a lady.
Yes, indeed, viva la difference!

It’s kind of funny, but when you see Dr. Birx standing next to President Trump, if you did not know better you could easily think she is Trump’s sister.

She is intelligent and hopefully, earns enough to dress well. Do they question men's apparel ?
