We’re not getting new supplies and our stores are almost depleted. Hospital workers in Washington state have been making protective medical gear out of office supplies and other run-of-the-mill materials as they deal with a severe shortage of equipment needed to care for patients who may have Covid-19.

It probably won't make news but Harbor Freight is donating their entire supply of N95 masks, nitrile gloves and face shields from every single store to hospitals. Hospitals in need simply contact them to arrange for the supplies to be collected, packages, and made ready for pick up.

While they're not N95 masks, the women here in my corner of S. Louisiana are sewing masks and donating them to the hospitals. My daughter-in-law, a respiratory therapist, said they are much appreciated, since they are at the point of one mask a shift. All these quilters have a lot of scrap material, so they are trying to do some good with it.

The tone of the article is accusatory and an effort to blame President trump for the lack of masks and other supplies. Here are the money sentences from the article:"The national stockpile used to be somewhat more robust. In 2006, Congress provided supplemental funds to add 104 million N95 masks and 52 million surgical masks in an effort to prepare for a flu pandemic. But after the H1N1 influenza outbreak in 2009, which triggered a nationwide shortage of masks and caused a 2- to 3-year backlog orders for the N95 variety, the stockpile distributed about three-quarters of its inventory and didn’t build back the supply". What They the do not say is the Obama was president after 2009 and the Democrats controlled congress and the budget.

Every hospital I have ever worked at has run out of masks every winter. Hospital administrators are judged day-by-day as to meeting their budget. There is no more important thing in their lives. Their salary and bonuses are riding on this. There is no Hospital Administrator willing to purchase items for "just-in-case". They tell their staff to use a single patient use mask all day - and then will blame the employee for "not following protocol" if the employee gets ill.

bloomberg.com might as well be sanders.com or biden.com. or hillary.com, for that matter. OF COURSE the content is almost as distorted as a piece in The Onion or Huffpo. I think this is the third piece from that source here in the past couple of days. I'm surprised it's a site from which posting here is permitted.

Well, I'm not the sharpest tack in the box but why couldn't they use bandanas or tear sheets in mask shapes? Am I being way too naive?

Obama didn't replace the stock depleted from our national stockpile after h1n1 flu. He was too busy undermining our Constitution and sending billions of dollars in cash to Iran.

According to this article, paragraph 20 - the national stockpile of N95 surgical masks was depleted during 2009 H1N1 and not replenished. The current shortage of masks for health care workers is not the presidents' fault.
