That old Walter Mitty thing doesn't stop for Joe Biden.
He was there as vice president at the Parkland shooting. He was shot at in Iraq. He was a coal miner. His chopper was shot down by bin Laden himself over Afghanistan. Always the irrelevant placeholder, dating at least from his Obama years when he had to beg Obama to quit making fun of him, the former vice president and now Democratic frontrunner has now decided to conduct pretend-presidential briefings on the coronavirus crisis to upstage President Trump.
According to Fox News:
The all-but-certain Democratic presidential nominee – in a conference call

Maybe he can borrow Barack's faux columns the cardboard podium seal that says "Office of the Wanna-be President-Elect." I'm sure they're in storage somewhere.

This awful, corrupt, public-fleecing, life-long politician should gracefully retire himself from the public eye and save both he and us the embarrassing spectacle of both his mental deterioration and his political vanquishment.

Maybe while Joe pretends to be presidential, Dr. Jill can pretend to be the head of his medical advisory team. What could go wrong? Unfortunately, almost half the country would buy it.

Thank you, Monica, but how can Biden upstage President Trump if no one knows he's talking? Or, if no one is patient enough to wait for him to say something every day? All he can really do is parrot what the President says anyway. How stupid is that? But, go on, Biden, with your bad self. I like seeing you make a fool of yourself. If God decides to dump all the judgement of the demon party on you, it's fine with me.

I will almost feel sorry for the guy when all the financial misdeeds will come pouring out in the debate with Trump. Almost.

Cool...the Democrat President-in-Exile. Cmon man! Assemble your Cuckoo Cabinet too. Just keep it under 10 to comply with the lockdown, will ya? And if you toss in a mdget into your cabinet (Robert Reich?), it will be like a real-life Game of Thrones gathering plotting how to (finally!) take down the King.

Can't wait. Just what we need.... an addled, dentally-challenged armchair quarterback who doesn't know how to work the remote for his VCR is going to spew a word salad telling us how he'd manage this mess. Now will somebody please help Uncle Joe find his pants?

Joe Biden is the "Forrest Gump" of politics. He has been in the middle of every historical event since he has been born. What would we do without old Joe?

Remember the idiotic podium that Obama used after he was elected but before he was inaugurated? Made up to look exactly like the White House podium, complete with a seal that looked remarkably like the President's but with the words "President-Elect" on it?
Joe just trumped Obama. This'll last until 5 minutes into the first such event, when Joe thoroughly chews his foot and the media go dark to prevent any further damage.
Putz.

Good article. ANY dem trying to insert themselves into this situation is going to come off badly. The timing may be the death knell of dem hopes for November but the best they can do is accept it and look beyond 2020. You can see the acceptance of this reality with the praise of Trump coming from unlikely Leftist quarters. Others may just go quiet in realization that they can only damage themselves. You can also see the really deranged that continue to scream and whine in furious but futile pique.
Just like Hillary's tours that fall apart even when they start giving away free tickets, Biden will be diminished by his efforts. Few will cover him. Not many will pay attention. Some will dissect his words and show how he is plagiarizing yet again. That's if he gets all his words out in the correct order and no one asks him any questions. If he follows his established pattern, he will start stepping on his tongue and lose his temper if someone asks him a question. It will be really ugly. This feels more and more like Mueller being pushed to come before Congress and being humiliated as well as destroying the dems case. Part of me will celebrate their failure but part of me wishes they could see that they should really NOT do this.

Somebody call for intervention on this poor, senile fool. Find a good rest home for him, where he can proclaim his importance to the other retirees, they can applaud, then promptly forget what he said.

I suspect Democrats aren't comparing Biden to Trump, but Biden to Cuomo. And they're regretting again what they've ended up with.

OP mirrors my first thought. Just pathetic. Joe is desperate to find a way to pretend to be relevant, and failing every time he tries.

Back in '08, McCain did something similar when he abandoned his campaign and hied his ass off to DC in order to help combat the financial crisis. We all know how that worked out.
