In this unprecedented crisis brought to us by the lying Communists in China, the COVID-19 pandemic panic has gone too far. America's truckers, the people we rely on to restock our empty grocery shelves, are being treated like disease vectors and worse, they've been forgotten.
The state of Pennsylvania thought it was a good idea to shut down all the rest stops where truckers sleep, including closing the bathrooms—until the trucking lobby caught the ear of the president. Thirteen rest stops have been reopened in Pennsylvania, but our truckers are being forced to use porta-Johns that are far dirtier than the public bathrooms. How is this helping?

That's not apple juice in bottles alongside the freeways. It's a tough life, and when support systems are pulled it makes it even harder.

I can't believe this is happening. Here in PA, our Governor is shutting down the state. I'm confused because the number of sick are not there? As I said, each democrat Governor will try to out do the other to create panic.

Sorry for the second post. As they are getting closer with a cure and prevention of this virus, there are a few Governors that are trying to keep the panic going...California, Pennsylvania, New York, Washington State, etc. Each of these states have democrat Governors. I'm telling you this a manufactured crisis. Also, as long as you have FOX, MSNBC, CNN, etc going 24/7 they are throwing gas on the fire. None of these stations are allow in my home anymore. I'm done with FOX.

Next they will call out the National Guard to do the trucking. This needs to end soon or it will never end - like the "war on terror".

Shutting down support systems for truckers who bring our necessities is pretty dumb. Having said that, there is a difference between a truck stop and a rest stop. You don't get food at a rest stop unless it's out of a vending machine. Going to the bathroom, and then driving on, OK. The point being truckers have taken over rest stops along our interstates instead of going to one of the many truck stops in our area.. Just try and find a parking place at a rest stop if you are plain old Joe the traveler. And this has been happening way before COVID-19 nonsense. I just happened to go to a truck stop at 3:00AM and it was nearly deserted. Meanwhile, you couldn't park a Smart car at a rest stop a few miles down the road.

Maria, on FOX Business, had on two Truckers this morning. She was asking how they are doing with all these facilities shutting down. They told her the Police in many cities are helping out by telling them where they can go to pick up meals at Drive through windows. Some of those Drive up's have even offered to bring their meals to the Truck. They are also letting them know where they can safely stop to rest. It sounds like people realize the Truckers need help. Everyone knows if they stop running, we will have nothing! Lets hope the word gets out that those in city and state governments can help keep those truckers on the Road!

this is classic liberal overreaction. they want control. More people die from choking on food than this virus

Until the people tell the overreaching government they will accept the tiny risks of using a public toilet and demand they be kept open, it's all just hot air. I love seeing the Governor of Maryland telling us all about "social distancing" and limiting gatherings to 10...standing shoulder-to-shoulder with "experts" well within whatever the standard is at a press conference wth many more than 10 attendees. One Maryland County is threatening $3000 to $5000 fines and jail time for violations. Meanwhile, the chief of police is having staff meetings sitting around the usual table with more than 10 in attendance, plus the news monkeys.
Enough!

#11 - Neither Lary Hogan (RINO-MD) or Jim Abbott (R-TX) are Dems, and doing the shutdown thing. This is a bi-partisan "crisis not to be wasted." American Hospital Assn said it just needs $100 Billion for the anticipated influx. The President has invoked the Defense Production Act clearly on pretense that we are at "war"...so let's talk about controlling the populace while thumbing their noses at the constitution.

Times like this are when true leadership makes its presence known or the incompetent have knee-jerk reactions that the common man on the street recognizes as panic and mistakes. All we can do is weed out the idiots at the ballot box. Truckers have a tough life already without white collar morons making it more difficult for them. The decision in Pennsylvania is being reversed due to public pressure and common sense prevailing.

You can bet that some very partisan liberal Democrat Governors are going to try to sabotage the national supply chains moving through their States by way of excessive State Regulations and Executive Orders, and then when the media goes nuts over the disrupted supply chains, will fraudulently blame President Trump. That’s just another routine aspect of Democrat politics in America these days.

Ha! Another opportunity to advocate for long-haul freight trains! They don't need to stop every so often to refuel and rest. They carry their own facilities with them too. They would make driving our cars much more pleasant too! The number of big trucks on the road is amazing.

So many governors and mayors at, at best, third string minds, just idiots.
My wife is thinking of driving from KS to Fla to help out her brother, and one big worry is whether there will be food, restrooms and hotels available on the way.

My bet is that the President will step in and find a good solution, or call up some governors and get them on board supporting truck drivers.

Horse hockey #8. There’s not enough truck stops, they’re all full by late afternoon. Big trucks and cars have different parking area. Unless you’re a numbnutz that thinks his car is a big truck, you can’t park in the same area. I will give you $1000 if you take pics of just ONE truck stop in the whole US that’s nearly deserted at 3 am. Number one complaint of truckers is not enough parking.

#16, a friend used to buy coal for a couple of central power plants until he retired a few years ago.
His opinion of the RR company he had to work with was very, very low. They were NOT customer oriented, and felt like their monopoly (they DO have a monopoly) let them charge whatever they want and put in place lots of rules to ensure that they made lots of money, regardless of customer needs.
Example: a steel hopper car weighs X tons empty, and an aluminum hopper car weighs some substantial amount less empty. So, a power plant company pays to have aluminum hopper cars for coal made and used, at the expense of the power plant customer. They can carry more coal per car, at the same load on the engine and same per-axle load on the rails, just less dead weight in the hopper car body. So, the RR company INCREASED it's price per car to haul it to make the same $ per ton profit on coal owned by the power plant in hopper cars owned by the power plant. Lots more ways he hated the RRs and their terrible service, high prices.
There are good reasons that RRs are shunned a lot.
