Rasida Tlaib backpedaled after sharing a post by Parkland survivor and anti-gun activist David Hogg dismissing President Trump’s National Day of Prayer announcement over the coronavirus crisis. Last weekend, President Trump declared Sunday a National Day of Prayer, saying: “It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these.” [tweet] "No matter where you may be,” Trump continued, “I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!”

Rasida Tlaib backpedaled after sharing a post by Parkland survivor and anti-gun activist David Hogg.... That word survivor should've been in air-quotes since he was not there at the time of the incident. Even if he had been there, he was in no real danger; there isn't enough meat on his bones to make far a visible target.

It is ridiculous that a member of the United States Congress be sharing/endorsing messages from a vile-mouthed, teenage hustler. (Young Mr. Hogg should be referred to as a Parkland hustler, not a Parkland survivor. He survived nothing. He wasn't there.) Ms. Talib should act her age, and resign if she cannot support the United States of America.

My question is: Why would ANYONE take seriously the comments of this idiot, David Hogg? He hasn't lived long enough to understand HOW LITTLE HE KNOWS about everything. I've spent my life working with and for adolescents, finding some quite intelligent and others mental train wrecks. One thing I can tell you is that those who proved to be intelligent always began by doing two things. Those two things were: 1) Recognizing their own short comings, and 2) Understanding how much they had to learn. These two aspects of mental development made for a certain humility and a desire to listen. This Hogg fellow shows that he possesses neither of these. According to Hogg, he has jumped from childish ignorance to adult acuity in just one leap. I rather doubt the efficacy of his jump.

The Whole of America   On March 13, President Trump declared a “whole of America approach” to fighting the coronavirus. And on March 17, he reinforced that point, tweeting, “The world is at war with a hidden enemy. WE WILL WIN!” And at his press conference on March 18, the self-described “wartime president” emphasized, “We’re going to win, we’re going to come back.” Thus we can see, the president is determined to set a tone of militant activist optimism; he pledged a stronger healthcare system in the future, but before we get there, he added, “We have to win the war first.”

A millennial single mom I know happened to be in a supermarket located in a North Shore suburb of Chicago Sunday when Governor J.B. As shoppers began getting news updates on their smartphones, she said there was a dramatic increase in the “intensity” of their shopping. People were moving quickly and scooping large quantities of anything they could get their hands on into their shopping carts. Within minutes, the shelves were nearly bare. Welcome to scarcity. Coronavirus shutdowns are forcing historically unprecedented changes to celebrations of Easter and Passover, with many religious institutions canceling or moving their services online. Easter, the most important feast in Christianity, falls on April 12 this year. In the Catholic Church, where the day is preceded by Holy Week, which includes a series of special masses and other services, several dioceses are already canceling the public celebration of those events. Catholic bishops in Ohio on Monday decided to cancel all public Easter masses in the state, a decision made in keeping with Republican Gov. Mike DeWine’s ban on all public gatherings of 100 or more people.

There are three accounts in the New Testament of Jesus Christ feeding a multitude of people with a handful of loaves of bread and a few small fish. In the Gospel of Matthew, the number of people is listed as 4,000. In the Gospels of Luke and Mark, the number is stated to be 5,000. According to all three gospels, large crowds of people follow Jesus into a remote area, where he preaches to them for several hours. After he swept the Arizona, Florida and Illinois primaries on Tuesday night, presumed Democratic nominee Joe Biden delivered a victory speech to a camera. For obvious reasons, there was no audience. Speaking in a quiet, somber tone, he ended his speech saying, “Thank you all. Thank you all for listening.” He stood there, motionless, staring ahead as if in a trance. Was he waiting for applause? Entering from stage right came Jill Biden to break this strange silence. Somewhat startled by her sudden appearance, he smiles, says “Thanks. Thanks.”
