The Centers for Disease Control has a $6.6 billion budget and one job which it messes up every time.
The last time the CDC had a serious workout was six years ago during the Ebola crisis. Back then CDC guidelines allowed medical personnel infected with Ebola to avoid a quarantine and interact with Americans until they showed undeniable symptoms of the disease. There were no protocols in place for treating the potentially infected resulting in the further spread of the disease inside the United States.
At the height of the crisis, confidence in the CDC fell to 37%.

The CDC has become a typical, bloated Government beaurocratic sesspool. Doing work that has no connection to disease control. Streamline the CDC and correct its charter to the task at hand, disease control, not identity politics.

Progressivism is a deadly disease cured only by truth. The democrats want no part of that. They will willingly put our country and citizens at risk if it means they can gain power. The solution seems simple. Follow #3’s suggestions. Science should be the driving force behind the CDC, not identity politics. Fix this, President Trump.

I do not trust the CMC. I do not trust the CMS. The only government entity I DO trust is about to be reelected President. If he can't drain the smelly swamp no one can.

I suspect the CDC leadership was fighting Trump, not disease.

It's no surprise that movies, football, basketball and more have been turned into exercises in PC virtue signalling. It starts with all the government agencies that were re-tasked to do PC stuff. NASA became 'muslim outreach', the IRS was Tea Party suppression, the EPA became global warming propaganda, the Army was to promote equality of the sexes.
This is a great summary of what happened to the CDC and constructive criticism of what it SHOULD be doing.

If those propagandists in the so-called 'media' could report something like this on occasion, maybe they could gain a little trust from the public. But that will NEVER happen. ''Trumps fault'' is their rallying cry.
btw, this should be a Must Read.

Have been waiting - for a couple of weeks or so - to learn exactly what our medical experts at the forefront of this whole 'coronavirus outbreak discussion' are referring to. Apparently there have been glitches/problems/breakdowns they are hesitant to identify and, more importantly, the persons or groups responsible for them. The CDC did come to mind, although I've not been familiar with their funding, activities or goals. This article give us insight on this bunch. Are their credentials and status deserved? Perhaps not. Thank you, Mr. Greenfield.

"there are times when we urgently need these otherwise useless parts of the government to work correctly and quickly. And then we discover that they don’t work."
A classic story of why big federal government is really bad. Washington has never been effective or efficient at anything but politics. Everything they do costs far to much and either doesn't work at all or is severely limited to start and only gets worse.
The tests that the media is griping about have been held up because of CDC tight governmental control. They botched the test protocols. Non government labs figured it out. They relinquished control, probably because Trump's people would have escorted them out of the building otherwise, to allow the results of others to be used.
Right now is not the time to rip out the CDC but it needs a major reset, as does much of the government.

The best thing that can be done regarding coronavirus is stop talking about it. Unfortunately its a little late for that. It wasn't going to happen anyway with the Trump-haters using the virus against Trump. They wanted to create a panic and have succeeded. We need to get back to business as usual, but the Trump-haters will see to it that does not happen.
Also need to find out who is behind these massive selloffs in the stock market and if anything can be done to stop them. Wouldn't be surprised if they are politically motivated as well. It might be foreign countries selling off their investments because they need cash.
Not sure what to say about the CDC. Are they doing anything? Thought Dr. Fauci was with the CDC, but he isn't.

What an shocking surprise.....an incompetent, self-serving bureaucracy. Who could have predicted it?
/s off
All bureaucracies devolve into incompetence and self-serving nature. CDC needs to be cleaned out top to bottom.

The heads of the CDC, as well as those in most departments ( DEP, DOE, etc, need to be voted out in November. They serve only themselves.
What's that? We cant?

What #8 said.
Cite this and share, right away, when others blame "this administration" for responding too slowly.
This should be an L-Dot . MUST READ.
