The Los Angeles Times reports that gun stores are one aspect of the economy seeing a surge in business as Californians react to coronavirus news.According to the LA Times, the line of customers at the Martin B. Retting Gun Shop in Culver City stretched out the front door and around the block on Saturday. Many of those in line waited five hours for their opportunity to buy a gun. A doctor who wanted to buy a gun at the store said, “I want to buy a handgun, I think they call it a Glock, but I’m not sure. I have a house and a family, and they’ll need protection

Doc, if you don't know what a Glock is, you probably have never fired a handgun. If you are wanting to protect your family and are unfamiliar with firearms, get a Mossberg 12 gauge pump shotgun, the shorter barrel version, a couple of boxes of 00 buckshot and go out and shoot a box of shells. Get used to it, or at least figure out how to work it. That's a start.

Progressive gun control disarms the law abiding only. It is Satanic politics.
Ask why your neighbor wants you disarmed.

My dentist is from South Korea and at my visit this week he was talking about getting his license to carry and buying a gun for protection. We live in a state where, surprising for Washington, you can get one. I was encouraging him to do so since there have been attacks on Asians, none here in the Seattle area but other places around the country.

Those people standing in line are way behind the curve on self-defense. A couple of months ago, they would have told you that gun control is a good idea. I can imagine their indignation when they found out that THEY would have to wait ten days after passing a background check...

Meanwhile, out here in Free America, we can buy what models of guns we want in minutes.
I was talking with my local gun shop owner Friday, gun sales are brisk, ammo sales high.
Should have had your gun already, doc, and if you're that clueless, better find a friend who can teach you ASAP. AFTER you wait for you 10 days.🙄

Hi Reply 3. I'd like to add that the South Koreans know how to handle unrest. During the Rodney King riots, buildings all around South Korean shops were burnt to the ground. South Korean buildings remained standing because they had guns - and they fired in the air "liberally" anytime anyone came close to their property.

#8, actually many who were "armed" to protect their stores were on the roof, showing their "AR-15s" and fired zero shots from their plastic toy guns.......but what rioter is going to want to go over and test it?

If the idiots will hit each other over the head for toilet paper, arming up is probably a good idea. Buying a gun now is a little late. After you register it with the feds as part of your background check, good luck.

And even after the doc in the story has waited his 10 days, he will only get a 10 round magazine with his normally 17 round Glock, if he gets the full sized 9mm version.
And he will still be clueless on how to use it. I hope he has a friend who can give him some basic instruction.
The good news is that the odds of needing it, this time, are probably pretty low. But he is in LA, so who knows what the lunatics will do this time?
I was on a business trip there during the Rodney King insanity, and was happy to be armed, although not in total compliance with local statutes at that time. It was ahhh.....memorable, to say the least. I was never so happy when the aircraft wheels left the runway that evening, winging my way back to KC area.

The people who are now buying guns all over the country to protect themselves and their families are not about to vote for Joe Biden, you can bet your boots on that!

#13, small steps. These folks have had their heads unceremoniously jerked out of their butts and are starting down the road to understanding the concept of armed self defense. It will take a bit, but this is better than them still staying either antigun or ambivalent on guns, not supporting CCW, normal capacity magazines, and modern sporting rifles like the AR-15 variants. I can tell you that if one of these new shooters gets someone to show them how much more accurate they can be with an AR-15 or Mini-14, they will want one of those, too. But Cali laws will limit them.....maybe they will vote differently next time.
Be happy that we may be getting some converts now. We need to welcome them and help them to be safe and train up.

Glocks are great but if you are a total novice I'd stick with a revolver. If you've got $200 get a Taurus but I'd scrape up another couple hundred and buy a model 10 S&W .38 special 4" barrel is a good home protection gun. Just point and pull the trigger. Best is to get $800-900 and get a 627 8 shot S&W. I like 5" barrels, myself.

Liberals tend to live in such a pie in the sky alt-reality. I feel like right now, people are getting a taste of communism style lock down, buying a gun and not having the items they think they need there for their instant gratification. I trust God and his plan and I can only hope this wakes some of these up.
These are not the people I would want with me in an emergency, I can tell you that.

Your neighbor wants you disarmed so that when they get the urge to take something you have because they think they're entitled to it, they want it, and it's their right to have it, not you.
