Bernie Sanders was declared the winner in California just moments after polls closed but his final haul of delegates could remain uncertain for days, or even weeks, as election officials tally the millions of provisional votes and mail-in ballots. (Snip) Voting on Super Tuesday in Los Angeles county, the state’s most populous, was marked by chaos after a $300m new voting system resulted in hours-long lines that kept people waiting even as midnight approached. Meanwhile, nearly half the state’s ballots still remain uncounted, estimates Paul Mitchell, with the campaign research firm Political Data Inc, which tracks ballots as they are

One day voting...NO absentee ballots unless Dr. certified in hospital, Voter ID photo with address that matches poll book, you vote you stick thumb in purple ink -no stinky little 'I Voted' stickers, paper ballots, no voting machines that can be hacked, if you aren't in the poll book you don't get to vote, no provisional ballots, no vote harvesting, no mail in ballots..if you want to vote, get your ass to the polls....enough of this democrap voter fraud.

Amen, #1. I have only voted absentee once in my life, when a relative had surgery on election day. I go and stand in line and love every minute of it because I know my paper ballot will go into a tabulating machine. There is nothing in the Constitution about voting being easy or convenient. One day, one vote, in person will cut down on all of this nonsense about counting taking weeks.

I vote by absentee ballot. I work at the polls at a place in another town.

One more time: Only having one day to vote is ludicrous. Many people have to work, are sick, can't stand in long lines, or can't handle crowds (just to name a few reasons why one day and one day only voting won't work). Early voting and absentee voting are essential if you want as many people as possible to vote. The better solution is to 1) require all states to have early voting and election day on the same days, and 2) improve the voting methods we currently have.

Early voting is fine. A one or two week window should be more than sufficient.
Late voting and vote harvesting, as now happening in California, is NOT. If you're mailing your ballot in, it had better be postmarked by election day (with reasonable accomodations for those in our military serving overseas).

I am a permanent mail-in voter in CA, but did not receive a ballot in the mail. My other family members, who share this status, did receive a mail-in ballot. I applied for a replacement, but never received it. So, I went to the election commission site and found I had two options: go to the polling place to vote or use the online process to vote (still had to print my completed ballot, sign an affidavit, and mail it or deliver it to a polling place). When I showed up at the polling place, the precinct head had never heard of a online ballot. So I showed him the printed procedures gleaned from the county registrar's site. Finally he consented to receive my vote and stated this emphatically to the poll workers, "As I told you before, everyone gets to vote. We'll just send it to the county and let them figure it out." This statement was very revealing of the issues we have in counting votes and ensuring the integrity of the vote.

#8 - Our precinct (northern Cal) has been deemed "permanent mail-in ballot" because we are remote-rural and getting into town could be a burden. Or so we were told. Seems like everyone is able to get to town for groceries and fuel, but somehow "election day" makes it harder to drive down the mountain. I guess cars don't work on certain first Tuesdays. I always dropped off our ballots personally and watched them go into the big locked, steel box. Now TK does it and we're first in the box.
For the last six years TK has been the Election Inspector for the polling place in town. (Norman Rockwell - the Lion's Club Hall next to the fire station.) He is in charge. He opens the place, supervises the other volunteers, closes it, accounts for all ballots and forms, and waits for the county to come pick up the ballot box, paperwork and equipment. He put in a 15 hour day Tuesday.
I helped him set up on Monday night. This was the first time an employee from the Registrar's office had to come up, 50 miles from the County Seat, to deliver the precinct's registered voters' list. TK always picked it up before on the prior Friday with all his other materials. The registrar guy said their office has been swamped dealing with all the new things that the state now allows regarding voting, and furiously updating all the changes in party status. I could see he was disgusted as he reviewed all the changes with TK in a diplomatic, bureaucratic way. (Having been a bureaucrat increasingly disgusted by the "regulations" I was supposed to implement, I can spot the tells.) People who aren't registered at all can fill out a registration form and get the provisional ballot, which supposedly isn't counted until the address and identity check out. (Maybe in my small county, but LA?) Any registered voter can change parties right on the spot and get the ballot for the opposing party. The Dims will allow No Party Preference and American Independents to vote in their primaries without changing parties. Each one of these categories, and exceptions contained in each one, requires a separate form. TK was exhausted and frustrated when he came home. Yes, everyone gets to vote. Come one, come all! We make cheatin' easy!
MAGA - It must come to California.

Oh, I forgot about the vote harvesting. The registrar guy was particularly disgusted when confirming that TK must accept "bundles" of ballots dropped off by one person. (spit)

Three hundred million dollars and all voters got to show for it was long lines and a failure to count ballots...thus proving that demonrats will waste every single taxpayer dollar that they confiscate from workers.
