An Oklahoma man convicted of kidnapping his stepdaughter as a child and holding her in captivity for nearly 20 years has been sentenced to life in prison, prosecutors said Tuesday. A federal jury found Henri Michelle Piette guilty in June of kidnapping and traveling with intent to engage in a sexual act with a juvenile following a seven-day trial that detailed the horrific conditions Rosalynn McGinnis endured. Piette repeatedly raped and abused her and fathered her nine children during the nearly two-decade ordeal, which began when Piette kidnapped her in 1997, when she was 12 years old.

"Oklahoma man" has a very French name. Looking at the picture, perhaps from one of the former French holdings in the Caribbean? Martinique, Guadalupe, St. Barts, St. Martin. I seriously doubt that this guy was, as Springsteen sang, "Born in the USA".
I may be wrong, he could have been born in Oklahoma. Lots of foreign born folks moving here, legally and illegally, bringing all sorts of "alternate ethics systems" to the USA.
But all cultures are equally valid, right?

Yeah but what about all the cultural enrichment the woman and kids are going to miss out on? After all, he has a funny foreign sounding name, so whatever he does is superior to what we do. We should all celebrate and learn from him.
I bet he voted democrat/communist.

Who raised and paid for the kids, and where are they?
Did any, or all, survive?

We need to become FAR more liberal with the death sentence. Taxpayers should not be required to pay one dime for incarceration of such SCUM. Sadly, we dump them in the prison where the inmates will crudely carry out the duty of a legally sanctioned execution, per Biblical standards for such crimes.

If he should 'accidentally' die in prison, can the kids get Social Security benefits?

Before jumping to conclusions about the French name, remember that Oklahoma is close to Louisiana and was part of the Louisiana Purchase from France. It has a few towns whose name carry traces of a French legacy (including Le Flore and Poteau, just glancing at a state map). It's quite possible that the guy was local.
Although what the guy did seems more in line with cultural stereotypes of Arkansas or West Virginia,

Some of us have named the southeast region of Oklahoma, Deliverance, Ok. My Dad was born in Poteau, but told us kids he was born in Paris (Texas)...Bon jour, y'all.
