The scenes at Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station in New York have been pictured amid an apparent homeless crisis that is reportedly making the lives of commuters and tourists a misery. Images show displaced Americans trying to sleep on floors and even trash cans as travelers and business people go about their daily lives, while other photographs captured this weekend show them tucked up discreetly on benches and at food hall dining tables.(Snip) CBS previously reported by that at 5.30pm the Grand Central station 'becomes a homeless shelter' and potential customers are afraid to visit businesses.

Liberals are being ‘compassionate’ by allowing mental/drug/alcohol addicted to wander around. I would like GOP/Trump to create an Initiative to get these citizens help, at rehabilitation/mental facilities, as opposed to allow them to ‘enjoy their freedom’ and destroy their otherwise possibly productive lives.

Displaced Americans? That's one I haven't heard. Can you be a Displaced Mexican if you're in, say, Connecticut? How about Displaced LGBOQ Americans?

Anyone can get in a hard place and need a hand - but homeless 30 years? My sympathy for people who have drunk up, smoked up, or shot up the rent is limited.

A woman named “Dixie” is 65 years old and has been homeless for 30 years. Tell me that isn’t a life choice! Something mental is going on this woman. Same with most of the other vagrants. This is absolutely ridiculous!

I am very thankful. Thankful that I never used drugs even when it was stylish. Thankful that I was taught work ethics and skills that kept me employed. Thankful that I always saved and didnt spend myself into hopeless debt. I'm thankful that over my lifetime, most of my choices have been wise ones (or at least not UNwise).
I'm especially thankful I never moved to one of those concrete zoos where the animals have no cages and the zookeepers dont care.

Really didn't look like many of these homeless folks miss any meals or seem to suffer from the cold. Poverty and homelessness in other parts of the world means starvation and harsh exposure to the elements. 20+ years of homelessness is a choice.

The seasonal part of my work has me in Grand Central from Nov until this Tuesday. I no longer have lunch in the food court because of the bums. They are not homeless. Their home is Grand Central. It has gotten desperate in the last 2 years. At least 3 of the 20 concessions have closed this year. The mayor and the governor are clueless and the “homeless” do goodies are there to maintain the status quo lest they lose their meal ticket.

Giuliani cleaned up the mess Dinkins left, initiates stop & frisk (which saved hundreds of black lives) and Bloomberg carries on for almost 20 years between the both of them, resulting in NYC becoming one of the safest & cleanest large cities in the world. Then comes DeBlasio, and in less than 8 years under his leadership the city turns to s4it and cops are attacked and antisemitism is waaaay up and homeless people are all over the streets again. Dear God, why do people vote Democrat? Every large city under their rule is a complete disaster. Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Sn Francisco, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, St. Louis.....dammit people STOP VOTING DEMOCRAT!!!

Answer: Refuse to visit NYC for any reason whatsoever. Let them die from lack of tourist funding and fees.

This is America and no one should live this way. As bad as it is, I would rather my money go to house and feed these people over handing hundreds of dollars in food stamps to illegals because they keep having kids on our soil. No, they aren't contributing any more than these bums. They are well fed on our tax dollars and take up affordable housing. They aren't working either.

I understand the Democrat political leaders promote illegal immigration because the leaders believe (and are probably correct) that illegal immigrants will eventually vote for Democrats. But, I do not understand why so many rank and file Democrats support their leaders' position on illegal immigration given that the severe housing shortage in the Democrat controlled areas would be greatly eased if illegal immigration ended or was at least significantly reduced. Never mind the tourists who are discomfited by the (usually very aggressive) homeless people, it is the residents of the City who have to live with what is continual aggravation and yet continue to vote for the same or same type of leaders. Makes no sense.

Grand Central once had rows of double-sided oak benches, which were removed in the 70s to keep the bums off (you can still find them on eBay). Maybe the transit folks should buy them up and put them back.

Super-smart New Yorkers (just ask them) see scenes like these, then yearn for the chance to elect an ourright communist in November. Meanwhile, socialist NYC thinks it's good policy to situate train stations and public libraries within homeless shelters.
