Hollywood writer-singer-dancer Dick Van Dyke formally backed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in a video endorsement on Friday, warning voters that another four years of President Trump will effectively end American democracy.
Sanders, 78, touted the video endorsement from the Mary Poppins legend, 94, in an apparent effort to appeal to older voters. Van Dyke described himself in the video endorsement as a “very enthusiastic” Sanders supporter and warned that American democracy will cease to exist if Trump wins the election in November.
Describing the 2020 election as the “most important “ election since the end of World War II, the Emmy award-winning star said, “another four years of the current administration

I've no doubt many of these newfound Trump haters couldn't care less, they only see it as a way back to Hollywood's power brokers good graces. Why else would they hire a guy like DeNiro to be in their movies?

Well, good, we certainly don't want democracy around here, because it never lasts. We live in a republic that is under attack by the leftists embedded in the bureaucracy and who need to be flushed out and made an example of - not to mention most departments and functions aren't authorized by the constitution. These leftards sound like demented aunts screaming in fear about things that don't exist. They are mentally ill and need a keeper.

This is rich.
Rob Petrie and Bert had success and became household names on the backs of working Americans who had extra income to fund their creation and sustainability.
When Communist Bern is finished, all creativity (let alone money to fund the creations and enjoyments) will be at the direction of the collective State.
As an aside: do you LDotters believe we are even discussing a Communist in our White House?

Let's see if I'm following Dick here: Four more years of Trump is the end of democracy, so instead of dragging that out four years, let's just elect the socialist and end democracy right now?
As for this being the most important election since WWII, the next election is ALWAYS the most important one. How would people react if a candidate wanted their vote for 2020, because the most important election of our time will be 2032?
Dick was a Trump-hating Sanders supporter in 2016, too. He's just reprising that role now.

94 years old. Gets free stuff, dies, doesn't have to bear the consequences. Maybe it's dementia and maybe it's stupidity (I make the dementia statement carefully - I'm in my 60s and watched my mother-in-law deteriorate over a few years so it's not a lighthearted comment about Van Dyke). But the downside will never be his problem, so who really cares what he thinks or says?

Don't you love Hollywood and celebrities? They get the tax breaks and we, deplorables, support their careers and now they expect us to keep doing so with the likes of Bernie Sanders as a candidate.
Sorry, Dick Van Dyke, I always loved watching your programs but I will no longer do so. Your fate is the same as Judge Judy with Michael Bloomberg. I will turn off the television.

So, now we discover that Rob Petrie is a Communist. That show started back almost 60 years ago. Van Dyke and Larry Mathews (Richie, the kid) are the only ones left alive since Rose Marie and MTM died three years ago.
Sen. McCarthy was right, Hollyweird is shot through with Communists.

People can focus on what Hollywood has to say but it is much wiser and effective to focus on what our kids and grandkids think. I take every opportunity to expose the lies of socialism to my family (and friends who will listen). Fortunately, to date, all 5 of my grandkids are conservatives and my children and their spouses are as well. We have even flipped on set of in-laws for the kids.

One more comment. Most celebrities have affluent lifestyles and don't hesitate to make it be known. Big houses, expensive cars, trendy fashion, social parties etc. Just think, instead of being so materialistic, they could be providing freebies to needy people. Nope, currently people like Dick Van Dyke, Clint Eastwood, Judge Judy etc. think the tax-paying, middle class "deplorables" should be funding it all.
Seems to be that Dick Van Dyke, Clint Eastwood, Judge Judy etc. think in the same manner as Democrats. They are gods. In my life, God is sovereign not you. So you can take your ideology and put it where the sun doesn't shine.

Disagree OP. Dick Van Dyke is an example of a much better time in Hollywood, and a more kind and gentler age in this nation. Having said that, I am disappointed in his ignorance about this nation. He hasn't been paying attention evidently or he would know we are not a democracy. We are a Representative Republic. First Eastwood and now Bert from Mary Poppins. This is getting very sad.

First of all, we do not have a democracy per se, we have a Constitutional Republic, not a pure democracy, hence an electoral college which helps distribute political power across the entire USA, including every "faction" or interest large and small, expressed in local and State governments and representatives at the Federal level.
Comment #22 gets my vote for the Best of Today.

I'm sure most of Hollyweird will come out for the Communist. Remember Joe McCarthy investigating Communism in Hollyweird? His methods may have been over the top but he was right. It's really amusing because all the stars are target zero for grabbing money from. They don't have enough value or brains to prevent it.
Sometimes I dismay that as we promote Capitalism that the dimwits in Hollyweird and the media actually benefit although they rigorously reject what we are doing. I wish we could pass a law that would require anyone that votes for Bernie to surrender their wealth for the common good. That would put a dent in the deficit. Sigh, but I believe in the Constitution.
