A newly discovered species of snail has been named after teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg, scientists announced in a new study published Thursday. The critter, which was discovered in Brunei on the island of Borneo, now has the scientific name Craspedotropis gretathunbergae. "The newly described snail belongs to the so-called caenogastropods, a group of land snails known to be sensitive to drought, temperature extremes and forest degradation," snail expert and study lead author Menno Schilthuizen said in a statement. The tiny mollusk, which is about 2 millimeters in size, was discovered by citizen-scientists from the tour group Taxon Expeditions

Better a snail than a jackass.

Well, they both produce slime, so I suppose that’s accurate.

Reminds me of the classroom scene from young Frankenstein. “Are you referring to the snail or the activist?“ “Why the snail, sir.”

Now if Greta had only stayed out of sight as long as this snail, the world would have been a better place.

Isn't "snail" sometimes used interchangeably for "slug?"

Some children's book writer should start a series of books, The Adventures of Greta the Slug. It would be a hit with a tiny angry red face and flowing tears as the little slug roams it's beloved burning earth. I can see it now sweet success.

So much irony in this.
FTA: "Such tiny jungle snails are among the first to go extinct when it gets drier and hotter..."
So, the very fact that this sensitive snail is still out there crawling around after decades of "global warming" would indicate the climate has not actually gotten significantly hotter!

These people are so self-centered and so sure they are smarter than we are that they don’t even see the irony. Here they are going around preaching the end is near, yet new species are still being discovered.
