Appearing Tuesday on the Fox Business Network, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) dismissed record-low black unemployment under President Donald Trump, stating black Americans “were fully employed during slavery.”
A transcript is as follows:
NEIL CAVUTO: As you’ve been seeing with Michael Bloomberg, he’s been jumping in the polls on the heels of his very expensive, pricey ad buys if you include $125 million slated for Super Tuesday. Could you, would you back him?
REP. JAMES CLYBURN: I’m going to back whoever our nominee is — Absolutely.
CAVUTO: Even with the things he’s said about African-Americans? Does that bother you?
REP. CLYBURN: Not as much as what Trump has said about African-Americans.

Actually Clyburn the unemployment numbers are true and it’s making you squirm. It’s getting more difficult to keep your hypnotized followers on the plantation when the truth has never been clearer. If voting for a condescending elitist snob who is literally buying your Party is preferable to vastly improved financial circumstances for your own race you sir have lost your humanity.

So Mr. Clyburn...Are you suggesting we return to the good old days of FULL black employment? Sure sounds like it!

Poor James Clyburn is tied to the Democrat plantation for life! No critical thinking for this Representative! What’s truly frightening is he’s not the only “imbecile” in Congress we’re paying for! Another thought Guam would tip over and another thought our astronauts planted a flag on Mars! The downside of gerrymandering!

OMG give it a rest. There is nothing that would make you happier than knowing no black person or black family is able to take care of their own needs. You want them looking to the government to take care of them. An employed independent black person just might think twice about heading back to the plantation.

I'm sorry , but this guy puts the 'n' in the 'n' word. Always has- for his long and miserable career. There will never be racial equality in this country as long as the likes of Clyburn, Sharpton, et.al. exist.

Clyburn demonstrates the problem with the AA community - nothing is ever good enough. Always complaining and sour-mouthed. After a while, you learn to ignore people like that.

Your fellow tribesmen and your muslim neighbors should have just kept you back at your garden of eden. I'm sure there was plenty of work to be had. I mean look at the old homestead now, along the Ivory Coast. Today you would fit right in.

What a stupid comment by Clyburn. Just plain stupid. But that’s what one does when you don’t have an intellectual argument. Or if you’re a democrat.

This is an example why hardcore Democrats will never give Trump credit. They Do Not Want accomplishments like low unemployment, a high stock market, and fewer people on welfare. In their minds, a booming economy is a catastrophic failure.

Fair enough (if you're an idiot, I suppose), so would you also say that the salary and working conditions of blacks today and during slavery is also the same?
I wonder if Candace Owens has already jumped on this. Going to check.

It’s a flabbergasting statement. It shows absolute corruption of thought, emotion, and sense of justice.
Is he saying blacks are better off on welfare? Black jobs don’t matter? Working blacks are scum compared to an elite like him and deserve to be slaves? What the hell?
What?

You are still a slave, Mr. Clyburn, a slave of the Democrat Party, a still ignorant. It's just not possible to educate an idiot, so you will always be that way. Alas, you won't be able to find any help, as no one wants to take on a bitter, resentful, and unhappy old man.

Clyburn is right about all blacks being put to work, but employment also implies payment and doing so voluntarily. He did forget to mention that all the slaveowners were Democrats though. I wonder if he misses The Good Old Days?

fta: "REP. CLYBURN: No, because it’s not true. I’m saying that the African American unemployment is not the lowest it’s ever been unless you count slavery… We were fully employed during slavery. So, it all depends how you measure this up."
This is good to know. If by your very words Blacks were "employed" during slavery, that is engaging in activity for compensation (food, housing, clothing, etc), how can you then support reparations? You have been paid for your work if you were truly "employed."

"Fully employed"..... but the PAY wasn't so good.
If he thinks it was better then........ he should get his behind Back On the Dem Plantation.
By the way, how old is this guy?
He says "WE were fully employed during slavery".... which ended in 1865.
Is this guy really 155 years old?
What a jerk.

Clyburn is a racist who does not understand the difference between ownership and employment.
Democrats cannot acknowledge Trump's accomplishments because they expose the reality that Democrats and their policies are utter failures.

Clyburn is the epitome of the Black Slave owners of old. He will do or say anything to keep his constituents beholden to him, through the pittance of Government handouts.

I see where this is going. The reparations idea was going nowhere. So now they will claim that the slaves were forced into unemployment when they were freed from slavery against their wills. So the government actually owes for past unemployment benefits that were never paid to the unemployed slaves.
Hey, its as "logical" as anything else the lie-berals keep coming up with...

Does Clyburn realize it was his own party that owned the slaves, fought bitterly against his community getting to vote and have civil rights? Does he also realize that his party still has his community in a newer form of slavery, thanks to LBJ?
Does he realize that it was the GOP that not only helped those freed slaves defend themselves from the democrat created KKK, but armed them as well? Does he notice that it was his party which created the Jim Crow laws that kept his community segregated in the South? He does know right, that MLK was REPUBLICAN? One of the most hated governors of the segregation era was George Wallace and he was Democrat. We could go on and on listing his ignorance about his own party. But I guess this Democrat party foreman and collaborator in his own community's mental enslavement and misery is too fat and well paid to even care.

As usual they left makes a statement that is really stupid. Clyburn does not know history, there were blacks that had businesses that hired blacks that were not slaves. Undoubtedly there were freed blacks that had problems getting a job. I am tired of the Blacks insisting on being called African-Americans. They are Black citizens or just citizens, there is not need for anyone to declare the color of ones skin. The color of the skin has no indication of the IQ of any person. Dr. Ben Carson is a prime example of that. Why do Blacks insist on being part of a down trodden minority. I have seen more blacks on TV as actors, great news commentators, and the other great talents in Hollywood in the last 5 years than I saw in my whole life. I have seen Black entertainers come of from strictly comic relief actors to prominent actors. Clyburn made a really stupid statement because he is ignorant of modern day black.

Jim Clyburn does not have a lock on Black Congressional Leadership stupidity, as remember when his neighboring Black Congressman Hank Johnson of Georgia announced in Congress that the island of Guam was in danger of tipping over and falling into the Pacific Ocean because of the large number of US military personnel who are stationed there?
