How The Ruling Class Might Elect
Bloomberg and Realign American Politics

Original Article

The Democratic Party’s establishment might well succeed in making Michael Bloomberg president of the United States—not on Election Night 2020, however. But it could happen if a third party were to win some electoral votes and, with no candidate receiving a majority of them, the House of Representatives was called upon to choose between the top-two electoral vote-getters. Today’s civil war within the Democratic Party makes it possible that two candidates will come from it: Bernie Sanders for the Woke Left, and Bloomberg for the establishment. In that case, enough establishment Republicans in the House might join their establishment Democratic colleagues to defeat Trump. This would realign U.S. politics:

#1, even if the right wins the House, they won't take office until January 2021. The Presidency will be decided by the lame ducks.

I don’t know why this would end up as a three way standoff. Just like when Ross Perot ran, he siphoned off many votes for Bush. I’m sure any democrat votes siphoned off from Clinton were insignificant resulting in the vast majority of democrats voting for him. It’s not like Bloomberg and Bernie both on the presidential ballot against Trump will somehow create even more voters than if only one would be facing Trump.

"Might" is a mighty long stretch. Creation of any third party will be due to a split between democrats and Bernie after they screw him a second time. No conservative alive is going to siphon votes away from Donald Trump.

Now, if all states allocated their EC votes proportionally, instead of winner-take-all, I could see this possibly happening. But, it's doubtful. Plus, I'm not sure when they certify the EC votes, and if the current House does this, or the new House does that.

Close...but the third-party UNIPARTY candidate will be "Sen. Moderate" Mitt Romney. he's punching all the NeverTrump and Resistance tickets, voting guilty on one article of impeachment, essentially repudiating Trump's endorsement, certainly declaring his openness to the call. The ultimate object is to siphon votes from PDT, not to throw the election into the House. But, if things go that way...you never know. The UNIPARTY wants PDT gone. It's not particular who replaces him, but would likely find Mitt preferable to Bernie - both members in good standing.

I know that the democrats have the most congresscritters, but if the Presidential race were to go to the House, the vote would not be based on majority of congresscritters but based on the majority of states, with all of the congresscritters in each state getting one vote. So North Dakota's one Republican congresscritter gets one vote and California's mostly Democrat congresscritters have to split one vote. So does anyone know the number of states in which a majority of the congresscritters are Republican and the number of states in which a majority of the congresscritters are Democrats?

Whether one agrees with Codevilla or not, he is somewhat more than an “opinion writer”… Angelo M. Codevilla is a senior fellow of the Claremont Institute, professor emeritus of international relations at Boston University and the author of To Make And Keep Peace (Hoover Institution Press, 2014). Not buying it. A third party candidate has never won a single state. Besides it will be the Democratic vote that gets split with Bloomberg. Not the Republican vote. A Mitt Romney run? Who would be putting up the money? There is a clear choice for 2020. It will be a Trump re-election or a hardcore lefty. It won't be close.

File under fantasy. The last third party candidate to win a significant number of electoral college votes was George Wallace in 1968, yet all he succeeded in doing was splitting the Democrat vote allowing Nixon to win a comfortable Electoral majority but with only 43% of the popular vote. That's all third party candidates ever do, they siphon off votes from one of the major parties allowing the other to win. A DNC reject launching an independent run in 2020 will do nothing but ensure President Trump's reelection.

The accused, David Daleiden, used standard media undercover techniques to investigate and expose Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted fetus body parts. While the use of undercover techniques like Daleiden’s is a controversial practice even within journalism circles, Daleiden’s upcoming jury trial has far wider implications for journalists. Namely, can and should government criminalize undercover reporting, which historically has revealed otherwise hidden wrongdoing of all kinds?

In recent years, discussion about homelessness has been circumscribed around a set of premises acceptable to progressive opinion. The homeless were thrown onto the streets, we’re told, because of rising rents, heartless landlords, and a lack of economic opportunity. Activists, journalists, and political leaders have perpetuated this line of reasoning and, following it to its conclusion, have proposed investing billions in subsidized housing to solve homelessness. But new data are undermining this narrative. As residents of West Coast cities witness the disorder associated with homeless encampments, they have found it harder to accept the progressive consensus—especially in the context of the coronavirus epidemic, which has all Americans worried about contagion.
