Boy Scouts of America files for
bankruptcy after sex abuse lawsuits

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection early on Tuesday after decades of sexual abuse claims within one of the country's largest youth organizations. The move filed in Delaware bankruptcy court halts the hundreds of lawsuits the BSA is facing that allege sexual misconduct by people within the 110-year-old organization over the years. Sexual abuse settlements had reportedly strained the Boy Scouts' finances, with states passing laws last year so victims from long-ago abuse can sue for damages.

Its a shame. It wasn't always an organization of freaks. I didnt stay in scouting long, but the few years I was in it were good ones; before they became city scouts and ecology scouts.

I guess the plan to send young bits camping with homosexual predators was a poor choice. So surprised! I mean, all the experts keep telling us there is no correlation between homosexuality and pedophile behavior!

The Left never creates any great institutions. They simply infiltrate the good and successful like parasites and destroy. They especially despise any idea of a higher moral authority, since the only thing they worship and live for is themselves and their earthly lusts. RIP, BSA. I will always be grateful for my experiences as a Boy Scout. “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”

How many years did the BSA operate successfully prior to allowing homosexuals to become Scout Masters? How long did it take for the homosexual pedophiles to take over? There's a lesson here somewhere. Will we find it....ever?

Most of what they are dealing with is abuse from decades ago. I think the BSA has done a lot to try and prevent any future abuse. My son went through scouts the last 10 years or so. They have a lot of rules in place to prevent this from happening mainly no adult ever being alone with a kid that is not their own. Meetings and Camping trips are canceled when parents don’t volunteer to participate and provide that coverage. It is a good system when followed. We were lucky and had a great troop leader and a handful of parents that regularly volunteered their time (troop of about 50 kids). Anybody that triggered a creepy feeling was closely watched. Some of the politics and changes that have hit the scouts in the last few years is another issue altogether. Troops can have a very different feel from one community to the next. Don’t give up on them yet, you might have a good troop in your community.

Apparently the formula of letting gay troop leaders take a bunch of boys out into the woods did not turn out to be such a good business plan. They deserve to go under and let a smarter organization have the task of teaching scouting.

1) Anything expressing goodness, morality, faith and healthy life skills will be attacked by leftist jackals. 2) Leftist predators are essentially permitted - nay, celebrated - as they systematically target an institution because they covet a ready-made population of potential victims who will be away from cameras, lights, parents and supervision. They then have the brass neck to claim that being prevented from this premeditated predation is 'discrimination.' If that's true then vaults and security systems are 'discrimination' against bank robbers. 3) They will eventually, inevitably, be assisted in their depravity by the leadership of the organization targeted. The leadership will, as usual, conflate aiding and abetting pedophiles with some bizarre form of acceptance or equality.

#15 is correct. The vast majority of sexual abuse claims involved incidents that took place before the Scouts' opened up to gay membership. For some reason, claims can be made by those that have "temporarily forgotten" that they were abused 25 years ago, and now they claim to remember that their Scoutmaster was a sexual predator. The Scoutmaster, of course, it now deceased, and cannot defend himself. There seems to be no statute of limitations on this kind of claim. If you were in the Boy Scouts, and you want to claim that an adult leader who is not deceased sexually abused you during a campout, even though it was just in a dream, you too, can cash in on the class-action lawsuit. Scouting remains a great organization for youth, and I hope it survives this with minimal damage. It promotes character, citizenship, and physical and moral fitness--qualities that any conservative should endorse. An organization with millions of volunteer leaders over the course of it's history is bound to have a few bad people in its ranks. Like gun-free zones attract shooters, the Boy Scouts are a target for pedophiles seeking access to young boys. All of this in spite of screening, safeguards, and required youth-protection training. I will not turn my back on an entity that was a beacon in my life--an organization that in their oath requires: "On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my Country".

Back in Illinois, our BSA organization which was in republican Lake County was a good one and was full of great leaders not to mention those of us kids who rose through the ranks. Both of my boys devoted some of their youth years in scouting and I put in my time as a leader. But, since then, something happened and the BSA everywhere became infected with the wrong leadership. Hard to explain, but, they don't seem to be in control of their own lives let alone expect them to lead boys who relied on them for their guidance. My view is the organization was destroyed by leftist leadership who brought their abusive ways with them. What a crying shame all this has happened.

First became leery of the BSA decades ago when my son joined the Cub Scouts. Didn't have a lot of money, but there were many, many things (official BSA items) this organization advised us each scout 'must' have.....this pair of sox, that tie, scarf, that shirt, also this pair of sox, this tool, that tool, these shirts, these pants, and so on. The list was long! I thought even back then it was 'big business' taking advantage of enthusiastic kids and parents. I know a lot of good things happened too, but that was a 'negative' - at least for those who couldn't afford all of the required items.

Sad that one has to watch out everywhere everyday for sexual predators. The Boy Scouts of America were the latest victim. Hopefully other boys clubs will be created, and hopefully they can keep the predators out. Both my brother and I were in Boy Scouts for a number of years. Dad was the Scout Master. One evening, a gay scout leader came to our weekly meeting totally unannounced. It was his first and last meeting. The older scouts made it clear he was unwelcome. Dad stayed out of it trusting us kids to know better. Most kids already knew what he was about and wanted nothing to do with him. He wanted to be their new 'best friend'. Asked my dad about it years later. He told me the Boy Scout organization insisted that my dad let him attend our meeting and his hands were largely tied. This was all about 40 years ago. Don't know how it would turn out today.

The Boy Scouts of America met it's demise by politically correctness open to all not show it's prejudice. Letting girls join the 'Boy Scouts' was the last straw it was natural that pedophiles would generate to the organization. Being all inclusive was the BSA's sin.

BSA gets ripped and punished for excluding homosexuals from leadership and concurrently gets sued when boys get molested by the homosexuals who shouldn't be there in the first place. And the biggest problem in all this is lawyers, fear of scandal, and cover-up at all levels.

The Boy Scouts of America essentially committed institutional suicide when they took a very weak position and allowed homosexual pederasts to gain a foothold at the Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop levels with direct access to young boys in situations where they could easily attempt to, or molest whatever Boy they decided to groom and target. I have a son who attained the rank of Eagle Scout. The troop we were associated with was led almost exclusively by adult leaders who were fathers of the Boy Scouts in the Troop. One time back then, in the 1990’s, I got wind that the boys were talking about an individual adult leader, other than a scout’s father, who may have had sexual contact with a boy or boys. When I went to the leader of the local Boy Scout Council and asked him to look into that situation, you would think that I had the plague and he could not get me out of his office soon enough. With that attitude I can see why the Boy Scout organization is now in bankruptcy proceedings.

For decades, perhaps more than a century, the Boy Scouts recognized the attraction of pedophiles for their organization so they made a rule that homosexuals absolutely could not be involved. Even with that they still had to be on their guard for the occasional deep closet homosexual. Then the left started a campaign against the Boy Scouts mostly because of the left's deep misandrist beliefs plus a hatred for the philosophy of God and country. Then conveniently the gay thing came along so they used the courts to force in gay troupe leaders. Now the Boy Scouts are going bankrupt which is what the left always wanted. Similarly, the Catholic church had strict rules against gay priests. But in about 1960 those rules were thrown out and now the Catholic church is replete with gays and lawsuits. The left wants the Catholic church to end and that has always been their goal. Similarly throughout history the navies of the world were known to be replete with homosexuals. So the militaries started making rules against gays. But now the left has won and the military is once again full of gays. The stories of straights that are assaulted rarely make the news. They just quietly quit as did several of my younger relatives and their friends.

I agree completely with #15 and #19. The damage - in the form of child abuse - started long before the recent announced changes, which loosened the restrictions on gay scouts, and later gay scout leaders. 40 years ago, much less was done to protect the youth from the occasional predatory pedophile; they do a much better job nowadays of screening the leaders and also training the youth to be aware of risky situations. However, as they've acquiesced to negative social pressures, their core membership has dwindled and long-time benefactors have dried up and turned their benevolence elsewhere. So there is indeed a direct correlation between the evolution of the organization and this grim financial wake-up call. I was involved in Scouts for almost 60 years, starting as a Bobcat Cub and progressing through Eagle Scout as a youth, and multiple leadership positions since. I'll always have good memories of an organization that blessed my life. I'll try not to harbor resentment toward the people and pressures that contributed to its downfall.

It’s still early, but the Democratic Party nomination process reminds me of Yogi Berra’s line about center field at Yankee stadium: “It gets late early out there.” It’s already late for the Democrats, and it is becoming clear that the Democrats are doomed this year. At the debate tomorrow night, Bloomberg is going to be the big target because he’s got the means to challenge everybody. The big beneficiary will be Bernie Sanders. Even though he is pulling away in the polls, I doubt the other candidates have the wit or ability to shoot at two targets at once. Expect Bernie’s surge to continue. His campaign team, which is spending money furiously trying to purchase a foothold in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, has treated it mostly as a distraction. The delays and potential errors in the results of the Iowa Democratic caucus should cause Americans of both parties to reconsider how the country selects its nominees. The current system of primaries and caucuses staggered over several months has three primary flaws. A new method of selecting nominees would be beneficial for the country. First, states that vote early in the process (especially Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada) unfairly carry greater weight in the selection of the nominee than other states. Winners in early states typically receive increased contributions and media attention, both of which are critical for the long nomination process.

It’s a familiar plotline. An interloper runs for a party’s nomination and, with an anti-insider pitch, scores wins and near-wins in the first contests with vote pluralities. His numerous opponents, fearful of antagonizing his enthusiastic supporters, launch attacks on one another that, predictably, hurt the attacker as well as the target. Party establishment types, convinced the interloper is a sure loser in November, dither and tilt things mildly against him while trying to maintain the impression of fairness. Candidates with no chance remain in the race, dividing the anti-interloper vote, hoping the interloper will collapse.

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) said Tuesday on MSNBC that not enough Americans are resisting and speaking out against President Donald Trump. Waters said, “The American people should be focused on Barr. We should be joining with all of those federal prosecuting attorneys that have decided he should step down, that he should resign. We should be supporting them and backing them up. I’m anxious to see what the federal judges who have decided they can’t wait until the yearly association meeting, that they should pay attention to what is going on now and review what has happened. I’m anxious to see what they’re going to come out with.”

Michael Bloomberg's presidential campaign said they would not attempt to make the former New York City mayor appear taller during his Democratic primary debate debut. Campaign officials told NBC News on Wednesday that the candidate would "*NOT*" be on a box during the Wednesday debate. The confirmation follows President Trump blasting the mayor as "Mini Mike" and claiming he wanted a box to stand on in the debate. (Tweet) On Tuesday, Trump accused Bloomberg of illegally funding his own campaign before adding the box barb. "Mini Mike, Major Party Nominations are not for sale! Good luck in the debate tomorrow night and remember, no standing on boxes!" the president said.

It's hard to believe, but May 4, 2020, is the 50th anniversary of the tragic shooting at Kent State University, where Ohio National Guard troops fired on a crowd of students during a massive anti-Vietnam War protest, killing four students and injuring nine. Witnesses, military and law-enforcement experts, historians, and activists are divided on whether the shooting was justified (that's a discussion for another day), but it appears that Kent State is going all-in on pouring salt in the wounds of America's Vietnam veterans. In a move that surprised many in the Northeast Ohio area and beyond, Kent State President Todd Diacon announced that actress, activist, and (former?) communist sympathizer Jane Fonda

Maybe they can trademark “certified former royal?” Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be moving forward in their new life without a valuable part of their brand, with the Queen and other senior Palace officials reportedly agreeing the couple will no longer be able to keep the word “royal” as a part of their brand. According to the Daily Mail, the two had hoped to leverage “Sussex Royal” into not just a new website but a “global trademark for a range of items and activities, including clothing, stationery, books and teaching materials” and a new charitable organization with the name.

A female security guard at a Rockland County library was fatally stabbed when she asked the suspect to turn down the music he was playing on his phone, according to a report. Blanchard Glaudin, 25, has been charged with second-degree murder after being tackled by patrons at the Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley, The Journal News/lohud.com reported. “He was walking just a few feet away,” village Police Chief Paul Modica said Wednesday about the “random” confrontation a day earlier. “She was at the computer terminals and told him he had to turn it down. That was it,” he said,

Looking ahead to the Democrat Convention in July, I believe that a Bernie Sanders-StaceyAbrams ticket may come out of Milwaukee. Yesterday, Abrams said this on "The View": "It would be doing a disservice to every woman of color, every woman of ambition...for me to say no," she adds. "Of course I want it—of course I want to serve America." My guess is that a lot of Democrats would love to have her serve, too. Let me give you the following scenario: First, Sanders is nominated with huge opposition from the party establishment. Nevertheless, he wins. Second, Democrats like Kamala Harris, the other black lady,

The Democratic Party’s establishment might well succeed in making Michael Bloomberg president of the United States—not on Election Night 2020, however. But it could happen if a third party were to win some electoral votes and, with no candidate receiving a majority of them, the House of Representatives was called upon to choose between the top-two electoral vote-getters. Today’s civil war within the Democratic Party makes it possible that two candidates will come from it: Bernie Sanders for the Woke Left, and Bloomberg for the establishment. In that case, enough establishment Republicans in the House might join their establishment Democratic colleagues to defeat Trump. This would realign U.S. politics:
