A favorite aunt of mine passed away from an inoperable brain tumor just last month. She was also 93 and healthy and active and living life with both barrels, including living in her own apartment and frequently going out with friends to various outings until her symptoms derailed her. She was diagnosed with her tumor in the fall and decided to start chemo to make it through the holidays for her kids.
Under the Doomberg plan, she would have been denied the treatment that prolonged her life long enough to celebrate a last Christmas with her family. What a heartless bustard that tiny little man is!!

First it’s age 95, then age 85, then 75, then it will be if you ever smoked cigarettes (“He deserves it”), then if you ever donated to conservative political candidates (“we as a society will not pay for the care of those who hate”), then known churchgoers, and on and on.
See how that works?
Oh, and those of you who work in neonatal care? You best find another line of work, since we’re not going to pay for those extrauterine tissue blobs you call “babies”...

So, from all these...Medicare and any supplemental insurance plans are then obligated to take all measures to extend life?
Let's think about that for a moment. Many of us have our "end of life" wishes memorialized and a loved one appointed to make a "death decision" for us, if one is needed. I'd bet very few, if any, signed on for "whatever it takes, to my last breath" medical effort to maintain life. Anyone?
You can have whatever treatment you want for as long as you want...if you can pay for it. Which takes us back to the question, where does the Medicare/insurance company's obligation end paying to prolong your life?

The rest of the country is slowly finding out what we former New York City residents learned years ago. Mini Mike (a/k/a "Doomberg") was --- and apparently still is --- a bigoted, know-it-all loud mouth.
Trust me, if Mini Mike had "prostrate" cancer he'd spend every dime of his billions to live longer, even if he was 104!
So ... Jimmy Carter (95) doesn't deserve the great and multiple treatments he's getting that those with ill relatives would envy? Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg (87 next month) is on walking life support and Prince Philip is 99 in June! Death to them all, Bloomy?
As others pointed out, this just gets society comfortable with the little green pill that you will be forced to take when a government employee decides you should have it --- whether 90, 80 or 70.
Last point --- Grandma Moses was painting until 101, Picasso at 91 and Andrés Segovia played guitar until 94 and Pablo Casals bowed his cello until 96 --- just to name a few. Who decides on continued life for a human being is a decision rightly reserved to God.

#32, Medicare's obligation to preserve life never ends. People who do not want life-saving treatment are free to execute a medical power of attorney stating their wishes and letting their appointed representative decide.
That can be changed, of course, but not by unelected bureaucrats. If a candidate thinks there should be a cut-off, let them say so and let the people decide.

I am no fan of Bloomberg. He is a nasty, job-killing nanny state busy body. He would be a disaster as President.
But in all fairness, the headline left out a very important word. He didn't just say cancer....he said prostate (or prostrate if you read it closely) cancer. And my experience with prostate cancer tells me he is probably on pretty sound medical ground when it comes to that very narrow and specific type of cancer.
And this does bring up an issue that we must address, no matter how unpleasant it is. How many resources are we, as taxpayers, will spend to keep everyone alive? I understand the slippery slope arguments, and the dignity and sanctity of life, and compassion, and all the other things that enter the discussion. But there is a cold, hard cost associated with these.
But for this discussion, Bloomberg's willingness to let old men die with prostate cancer is the logical progression of a Leftist's position that unborn children can be killed for any reason, including financial reasons. As my dear old dad used to say...Ain't nobody safe when God ain't around.
Beat them over the head with this example and let the absurdity and inconsistency of their positions shine through.

These "medicare for all" idiots need to look at other countries with "free health care" and observe their long lines waiting for surgeries and tests.
Step 1 - the smart students go to engineering or other fields more lucrative than being a government worker
Step 2 - the doctors who don't want to be a government worker and take a pay cut, decide to retire earlier than they had planned.
Step 3 - there is a shortage of medical care and the middle age doctors are always exhausted
Step 4 - someone in the government has to decide how to ration the care, and they decide the elderly are the most expendable and the work force should get priority.
Step 5 - the old folks are costing more than their fair share, and no efforts should be made to extend their lives because we must cut expenses.
Step 6 - the socialists realize this has affected their own grandmother or their own father, but it is too late because the incredible medical system in the U.S. has already been decimated and will never be revived.
Step 7 - they realize that those in the government, those who help them stay in power, and those with money, can still get the medical care they need.

Bloomberg is a creature from the 'Black Lagoon'. Pick an age when humans should be left to die. Maybe 85 and Bye Bye RBG. Oh, wait, his plan does not apply to politicians or the elite. Only to the commoners. I paid into the retirement plans for 50 working years and now I get to enjoy the fruits of it. How about an abscessed tooth. Let it fester and cause a deadly infection, or take care of it. I damn well know that Bloomberg will be treated if he gets sick, no matter what his age. So, he is just a hypoocrite. Under his plan, only very wealthy individuals will be alive over the age of 90.

Oh please #51. I don't care if he said prostrate or whatever. Again, the Democrat party has a God problem. They think they are gods. Just talking about this issue, Michael Bloomberg must think he is some god of sorts. He and his Democrat party think they can fix every problem humanity incurs. After all, government will take care of you, right?
And these thoughts are not directed just at Michael Bloomberg. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, etc. think they are gods to and they can fix anything. Government will do it.
They all have a God problem. For that matter, I suggest you start picking up a Life Application Bible and start reading. You will start to see the similarities in Bible times versus current times.

My father had prostrate cancer. Towards the end he decided to go back to Belgium where he was born and live with his Belgian wife. Before he left he stopped all of his insurance and such thinking he'd get his care there. The Belgians already had the policy of deciding at what age care stops and my father in his mid-sixties was refused care. I remember thinking that can't be possible that care be refused because of one's age but it was. I surely don't want another president that cares so little that he'd do whatever needed to make his numbers fit. Trump's right about Bloomberg's size, but Bloomberg's ideas for being president are small too.

Isn't he describing Obamacare, and the panels that were installed to determine if it was worth the cost?
The same panels they denied they instituted, and Sarah Palin was chastised for calling them "death panels"?
I'll bet Bloomie would spend a billion of his own $$$ if he thought it would save him, or his family member, but the rest of us serfs aren't allowed certain levels of care, I guess.
And, didn't a certain Democrat Socialist Worker's Party in the 1930's believe in similar outcomes to ensure only a particular dominant race? If I recall, didn't they exterminate people who had certain ailments and deformities?
Would not be too far of a reach to realize you'd only get the best care unless you were part of the "party", right?

No healthcare for the elderly is the Democrat position and has been for over a decade. Remember Obama’s “send you home with a pill”? That’s what he was referring to. No life saving medical care for people beyond a certain age. Just send them home with pain pills to wait to die. Remember the Death Panels? That’s who would decide who gets treatment and who dies. And don’t kid yourself. Involuntary euthanasia at a predetermined maximum age is where they are headed with this. But they have to get your guns first. Saving the planet.
Read Cass Sunstein’s (Obama’s regulation czar) University of Chicago Law School article. His position is that your expected future contribution to the state should determine whether you get medical treatment. Old people don’t have much time left to make a future contribution so no medical care for you. He also mentions that black members of the underclass don’t have much of an expected future contribution either, but then states that of course we can’t deny care based upon race (wink wink. They’re coming for you next).
These people are monsters.

There is nothing new about this. Remember Obama said at the point they are aged there should be no treatment, just make them comfortable, give them a pill. From those with ability to those in need is the mantra of socialists and communists. The problem arises when defining 'need'. The aged don't need care because they are no longer beneficial to society, so just make them comfortable, that's all they need.

During Hillary's attempt at nationalized healthcare in 1993 I heard several people say that age limit was as low as 60.
One of them testified to Congress that it was the duty of the elderly to die and get out of the way.
I can't remember her name but I think she was from Washington state.

What Bloomberg has proposed is a version of situational ethics, always dangerous because the criteria are so subjective, which in this case also happens to violate an individual's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness....which I read about someplace else.
OTOH, there is not enough money in the universe to pay for everyone to receive every possible medical intervention, so that cold reality will force public health care to be rationed.
If rationing is a foregone conclusion, then perhaps we could ration based on something other than an individuals' perceived worth to society. I'll bet you $1 that curtailing based on total cost of a single procedure (e.g., ration the number of multi-organ transplants by lottery, or some such), or cap the lifetime cumulative expenditures like many insurance companies already do.

Simple finances. The government will just do a net present value on your life. If your tax revenue stream after you are fixed will more than pay for the care, then you get care. If you are a negative, if you are perhaps a senior no longer paying taxes but receiving benefits, then the sooner you die the less it costs the government. Negative net present value? Here's an aspirin; go home, no care for you.
So if you are on social security for example, the government is keenly interested in you dying as soon as possible to maximize their financials.

Bloomberg is not a nice person. He thinks his money makes him superior to everyone, and that entitles him to force his beliefs onto everyone else. That includes deciding who should live or die. With that kind of disregard for human life, Bloomberg is definitely not fit to govern.

They disembarked the trains and walked through the gates. As they reached the front of the line they were sectioned off. Those who could work this way; those who were too old or too young that way. Bloomberg has Nazi blood running through his veins.

How many people live to 95? Not a lot of savings to be had there. The potential savings are at 85 or even 75.

This article, along with the many video clips of Mini-Mike Bloomers espousing such outrageous elitist opinions, makes me terribly uneasy. I'm not alone that this calls to mind the horrendous calls for eugenics in Hitler's Germany, and espoused by American Margaret Sanger. Her desire was to eliminate people from southern Europe, etc., in the hopes of "refining" those who were deemed "fit" for giving birth. Hitler and Sanger's views had much in common. May we all work to frustrate their malevolent dreams to the ash heap of history!!

#41 It wasn't only Ezekiel Emanuel but Tom Daschle who said we need to accept death at 75.
#32 It should be a personal choice. That's what we are paying for and WE are suppose to be a civilized and compassionate society. I don't need Mini Mike or anyone else to tell me what I need or should have for health care. These pompous people campaigning for President have an onsite doctor at the Capitol and We the People are paying for their Cadillac coverage. We are paying for Pete too as mayor.
