SALEM, Oregon — The governor of Oregon has come out in favor of removing four hydroelectric dams on the Snake River in Washington state, saying that is the best way to increase endangered salmon runs. Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, sent a letter to Washington’s Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee this week, offering her support for removing the dams. Washington, under an initiative spearheaded by Inslee, has been gathering information on what Northwest residents think about breaching the four dams. ... energy, and the investment is already paid for. This discussion is ridiculous. Why do we have to keep re-justifying the existence of these dams? They give us great recreation, slack-water navigation for shipping crops to seaport destinations and area a source of wealth creation for the area and for the country.

Do it. Pull the dams, and in their place put solar and wind units. Ban fracking and coal mining, and of course no coal or propane from other states allowed. Exempt the lower 50% of incomers from all but minimal taxes and add the burden to area businesses and your top 10%-ers (because the 1%-ers aint enough). Put in that $15 p/hour minimum wage, and make all the safety nets open to any and all who come, regardless of citizen status and able-bodyness, Accept any and all immigrants who enter either state and treat them as any citizen, EXCEPT that sanctuary rules MUST be applied when and wherever any non-citizen crosses paths with law enforcement. No cherry-picking which crimes are "bad' enough. You have to keep them all. Enact the full panoply of liberal wet dreams. Oh, and NO INCREASE in already allocated FED DOLLARS! This is a State thing - don't come crying to Montana or Missouri or Illinois for help. What a perfect little social-science lab to practice what we preach. C'mon Washington and Oregon! DO IT!!!! PULL THE DAMS!!! Shut 'em down and go full speed SJW ahead. Show the rest of us deplorable rubes how it's done.

WA already destroyed a dam that used to provide all the power for several medium sized cities, so the idea is already accepted as wonderful. It cost all of us $360 million to destroy a perfectly operating power plant, all for the idea of encouraging long lost salmon runs that will take decades to regenerate and may never recover, and in any event not be as useful. I love salmon as much as most people, but I actually like people a lot more. The governors and legislatures of both OR and WA are all Democrat controlled as you might surmise. And they both think that small population states like them will actually help fix the terrible global warming we aren't experiencing and never will. But they feel so good about themselves. Hopefully the Federal government will stop this madness, and the liberals in these states will jump off the nearest dams when Trump wins big in November.

It is never just the sound of a guitar. It is the feel of it. The weight of it. The way it sits against the player’s body, and how well it responds to every touch, be it a pick across its strings or the flat of a finger against its frets. Mike Lull knew all that, and on a molecular level that drew some of the world’s most talented musicians to the Bellevue guitar shop that bears his name, including members of Pearl Jam, Heart, Soundgarden and Cheap Trick.

Democratic presidential front-runner Bernie Sanders likes to market himself as a wise old man who just happens to have clown hair but is right about everything, such as the War in Iraq. Yet his opposition to the Iraq War was dictated not by cool-headed geopolitical calculations, but the lifelong habit of romancing American enemies — as is typical for communism-lovers. The recently surfaced press conference Sanders gave following his return from his honeymoon in Yaroslavl, USSR, is a great example of leftist naïveté about totalitarian regimes. For Bernie to fawn over Soviet culture the way he did indicates a staggering degree of incuriosity.
