Chicago Transit apologizes for
Abe Lincoln tweet honoring
Black History Month

Chicago’s mass transit system apologized this week after a tweet recognizing Abraham Lincoln for Black History Month sparked a backlash. The Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) official Twitter account retweeted a post with photos of a man dressed as the Great Emancipator waiting for the Red Line train. “In honor of Black History Month, Abraham Lincoln was seen making a guest appearance on the CTA,” the CTA wrote Wednesday, which was also Lincoln’s 111th birthday. The tweet was quickly deleted after users criticized the agency for celebrating a white man during Black History Month, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Comments:

How much do YOU hate white people? Not enough, evidently. Maybe African-Americans caught wind of Honest Abe's plan to repatriate black people to their homelands, adding that the races are incompatible.

And the Civil War, Emancipation Proclamation, and 13th Amendment counted for nothing? The slaves were going to free themselves? Seriously? Lincoln and the dead of this nation's Northern army are responsible for the abolition of slavery as legal here. Yes, it takes even more to combat prejudice but thanks to O'mama and the Democratic Party, progress has taken a half-century step backward. The CTA has NOTHING to apologize for.

Honoring "The Great Emancipator" during Black History Month? Are these people so ignorant, both the complainers and the CTA, that they can't see the stupidity in this whole thing? So now no one who is not Black can not be honored or celebrated during the month of February? We lose a little more freedom, and sanity, every single day. BTW...Lincoln was born 211 years ago.

Lincoln did indeed offer them the choice of going back or staying in America. Modern blacks should not be angry at whites for any of this, but should be mad at their own ancestors for choosing to stay in America. Or they could be like the late icon Mohammed Ali who came back from his fight in Africa, and said it made him grateful his ancestors were brought to America in the first place. He knew the truth, unlike the media and the hustlers who exploit blacks today.

To #5. Abraham Lincoln and the invading Northern armies get credit for freeing the slaves, but slavery was still legal in the North all the way through the Civil war. The civil war wasn't just about slavery, it was also about states rights among many other things such as tariffs on cotton in south being main finance tool of federal government. The civil war was when the federal government became the national government and took over powers not given to it by constitution and belonging to individual states.

I've always thought that Abe Lincoln, though a good man, made a terrible mistake with allowing the sacrifice of 600,000 deaths and countless amputations and other injuries. Not to mention the many fatherless children that were created. Slavery was dying anyway with the advanced technologies of farming. Lincoln is no one to them.

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause." —Abraham Lincoln, letter to Horace Greeley, August 22, 1862.

Flagstaff, Ariz.—Cherokee citizens are calling on Elizabeth Warren to publicly disavow a family story of indigenous heritage as a way to dissuade others from making false claims they say often romanticize Native Americans. The topic has haunted the Massachusetts senator since even before she announced she would seek the Democratic nomination for president, despite Warren repeatedly apologizing for identifying as Native American in the past and for submitting a DNA test to back up what she heard growing up. More than 200 tribal citizens reignited the debate this week, signing a letter to Warren that said her apologies are vague and don’t address the harm she’s caused.

Catherine Pugh arranged for her 'Healthy Holly' books to be sold to nonprofits and foundations to promote her political career, fund her run for the city's highest office, and buy a new house. As part of the double-selling scheme, organizations paid Pugh $859,960 for orders of more than 132,100 copies but only 73,200 were ever printed. The orders were never completed but Pugh pocketed an estimated $800,000 from the sales for her own use.

To some extent, this must be true. Those who weren’t alive during socialism’s cruelest catastrophes — or even its many banal failures — will be less put off by the idea. Then again, if a presidential candidate were praising the excellent public transportation system of the Third Reich or going on about the some alleged benefit to American slavery, they would rightly be chased from the public square forever

The lefty co-star of the third installment in the Nightmare on Elm Street series is apparently trying to help force a nightmare on Wall Street. Patricia Arquette felt it worthy of the #RESIST movement to summon her inner Bill Maher and implore followers to tank the U.S. economy. How? She told her followers to not buy anything on March 2nd. Really. Arquette took to Instagram to post what appears to be a screenshot of a Feb. 15 tweet that read: “A REMINDER: please contact everyone you know. On Monday, March 2nd, we’re going to have an Economic Shutdown.”
