Controversial former Pink Floyd rocker Roger Waters bashed President Donald Trump at an event Tuesday in New York City, showing support for 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders. The British bassist and songwriter, who hasn't been with the band since the 1980s, spoke at a Q&A to promote his concert film, “Us + Them.” According to Rolling Stone magazine, the moderator noted that the film showed Waters’ music getting its message of “humanism” to connect with young people all over the world.

Comments:

I am so very angry at Roger Waters-he is a hypocrite's hypocrite. His fortune was amassed thanks to a CAPITALIST system; but now that he's rich he endorses socialism? BTW you were never a good bassist Rog, and you ruined The Pink Floyd when you fired Rick Wright during the recording sessions for The Wall, which is arguably a crappy album in itself. Go to hell Roger, you lying POS.

Roger has been a loser Progressive self righteous overbearing bore of a hypocrite for decades. Roger's rather volatile exit from Pink Floyd and calling the remaining members a "spent force creatively" didn't win him any popularity prizes either and proved amazingly short sighted. But then in his wee fevered brain he did consider himself the entirety of Pink Floyd, so how could his backup band go on without him, the overbearing arse that he is. I'll be honest. I never liked him. The man had and has serious mental health issues.

While I enjoy Pink Floyd's music, I would no more consider Roger Waters' political recommendations than I would the recommendations of Cher, Whoopi, Michael Jackson, or any other performance artist. The creative performance personality is nearly always unstable and unrealistic.

Although I have been a fan of Pink Floyd's music since the early 1970s--still am--the dark and nihilistic words of their principal songwriter and lyricist Waters always limited the group's appeal. The late Rick Wright was an excellent keyboardist, David Gilmour is a great lead guitarist, and Nick Mason an excellent drummer. Instrumental talent was never lacking in Floyd; it was their soul, represented by Waters's cynical, dreary songs, that was missing. The group hit its peak with Dark Side of the Moon in 1973. (I consider that record to be essential for one heading off to college.) Wish You Were Here (1975), their tribute, tinged with sadness, to departed Roger "Syd" Barrett, was nearly as good as Dark Side. A dozen or so years ago Roger Waters, playing solo, was at Tampa's Amalie Arena. At some point during he concert he gratuitously tore into George W. Bush and the Republicans. Half the crown cheered, half the crowd jeered and shouted at him to shut up and sing. So this is old behavior for Waters, who has always had a left wing burr up his chute. Just a very unpleasant person all around. Money came easily for him, and he doesn't care. Why anyone would listen to him pontificate about politics is beyond me. He has no sense.

He was weak when confronted with his practice of making some women who worked for him sign non-disclosure agreements. But even with all that, Bloomberg saved the worst for last. It came after the fighting ended and NBC moderators asked for closing statements. If there were a time for Bloomberg to offer a vision for the country,
