A French tourist was randomly slashed in the neck while strolling around Harlem with his girlfriend Friday, police said. Shocking video obtained by The Post shows the young man kneeling on the ground holding a piece of cloth to his neck, a heavy pool of blood forming around him, as his distraught girlfriend stands next to him. The couple was walking on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard between 132nd and 133rd streets in Upper Manhattan around 11 a.m. when a stranger suddenly jumped the 27-year-old victim and slashed him across the face and neck with a knife, cops said.

Comments:

If it's not a Muslim jihadi on the streets of Paris it's an American Dindu in Harlem. Is it safe anywhere to Walk while White, without fear of targeted attacks that we're requited to call "random?" NYPD says the suspect was dressed in black and wearing Air Jordans; maybe he's changed his bloodstained clothes and will escape. Any further description might trigger thoughtcrimes.

Nothing will happen to the perp. All he has to do is go to his local precinct, obtain his DAT and pick up his swag bag. After that all will be forgiven and it'll be safe for him to go back to the streets and ply his trade unmolested. It's becoming clearer every day that Mr. Wilhelm works for the criminals. No wonder he has zero approval from NYPD cops. When will the citizens finally have zero approval for him ? NYC. is safe for no one!

Unless things have changed a good deal, it isn't too smart to wander around Harlem for anyone, Black or white. At least in certain neighborhoods. (I'm not familiar enough with Harlem to know if this tourist couple was in one of the really dangerous parts.)

The last time I was in Harlem was about 1975, and I was with a college roommate who grew up on LI and knew the city very well. I clearly remember burnt out shells of cars with no hoods, trunks, doors or wheels sitting at curbside in several locations. He said the route we took, driving, was "OK, as long as you don't stop or break down." Fine place Harlem......as long as you are a LONG way away. Even if my CCW permit was valid there, I wouldn't go, ever.

Under Mayor Giuliani Harlem changed into a clean and welcoming place. My daughter, who worked in PR in Mid-town, lived in Spanish Harlem from 2009-2012 in a gorgeous apartment with a limited view of Central Park and it felt perfectly safe. Now NYC has a criminal for a mayor so it’s back to the bad old days where felons make the rules and run the city.

Chicago’s mass transit system apologized this week after a tweet recognizing Abraham Lincoln for Black History Month sparked a backlash. The Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) official Twitter account retweeted a post with photos of a man dressed as the Great Emancipator waiting for the Red Line train. “In honor of Black History Month, Abraham Lincoln was seen making a guest appearance on the CTA,” the CTA wrote Wednesday, which was also Lincoln’s 111th birthday. The tweet was quickly deleted after users criticized the agency for celebrating a white man during Black History Month, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Now that as many as six serious Democratic candidates remain in the race, pundits increasingly believe the party is headed for a brokered convention. Hold on to your hats if that happens, because it’s even more complicated than it sounds. Presidential nominating conventions used to be “brokered” because the delegates were largely appointed by — and loyal to — political bosses. Delegates voted on multiple ballots as rivals vied for the bosses’ favor, making the quadrennial events the political equivalent of reality television. Democrats, lacking an answer, changed the subject. Thirteen committee senators heard from five female witnesses, three who shared powerful testimony and two who expressed concerns about the bill.
