CHICAGO -- The brutal beating of a 68-year-old man by 11 teens on a passenger train here Monday was captured in a disturbing, graphic video obtained by Fox News. The Chicago Police Department told Fox News the beating is under investigation, but no one is in custody because the victim “was unable to identify his attacker(s) due to his injuries.” A police source told Fox that the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office “wouldn’t touch” the case if the victim can’t identify those accused or is unable to cooperate. When reached about prosecuting the case, state’s attorney's office responded: "We are unable to comment."

Comments:

I've ridden on the Chicago El....they are full of packs of feral "teens" and if you even look at them funny be prepared to fend off a 20 to 1 attack.

So, even with video the Attorney's office refuses to prosecute? Maybe the old man is scared of retribution, or maybe the beating caused some memory loss. When is the DOJ gonna go Federal on Chicago's legal system? Be it black on white crime or black on black, the crime needs to be dealt with, especially with video available. They don't travel in packs to survive #1. They travel in packs to HUNT. They are too cowardly to take on their prey by themselves. Tribal mindset at work here. Not being racist, just observing behavior.

Well I'll be darned you don't see that every day....well actually you do. You aren't allowed to carry on public transportation in the fine upstanding fiscally responsible law respecting land of honorable politicians known as Illinois. It would seem to me that having to purchase my 2nd amendment right including forcing me to purchase a service from a third party is in conflict with that "shall not be infringed" part but to then tell me I still can't carry where I'm most likely to be attacked is absurdly beyond any minimum threshold of infringement.

The local CBS station had a report yesterday on the increase in crime on the CTA. I don't know if the stats they quote are for crimes on the buses and the L or just the L, either way, the numbers are frightening. In 2016 there were 2,737 reported "incidents" by last year the number was 4,497. https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/02/06/blue-line-shooting-cta-police-safety/

The El and BART seem to have some things in common, including a social teen ridership who regularly engage in (ahem) team-building exercises... So the "graphic video" does not show enough to make identifications? I sense a shortage of stones, more than a shortage of evidence.

So---since murder victims are unable to identify their assailants, the murderers go free in Cook County? Why aren't the Obamas concerned? Re-instate the draft. At least that would expose some male teens to a different environment.

Why isn't this a hate crime? And how stupid are Illinois/Cook County voters if they reelect State's Attorney Kim Foxx. She has a viable challenger in the Democrat primary. But he is white, so that eliminates a substantial portion of the voting population.

Posters #6 and #7 have clearly identified the problem. The Crook County DA can't be bothered to prosecute black crime. This clearly gives these feral animals a free pass to do what ever they wish. Frankly I am surprised that there are any Cops left in that miserable hell hole. Why bother?

The teens could be green with pink polka-dots for all I care. Put the sorry SOBs in the clink. And put their parents in the clink as well. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE to beat someone up like that. None. Let me tell you this: If the victim were an alderman or a state rep or state senator from Chicago, then the victim would receive justice. In Chicago, there are different rules for different people.

What's this about the attorney's office 'won't touch' the case because the victim can't identify the thugs? This proves how absolutely corrupt and racist the Cook county attorney's office is. It's a white victim and black thugs. Jussie Smollet, a black man, couldn't identify his 'white attackers' but the police and every other official in Chicago left no stone unturned to find out who 'attacked' him.

I thank God every day that I was born in a small southern town. I am sure all small towns in America's heartland are similar. Less crime, less violence and where the police are admired, respected and professional. I cannot imagine having to live in Chicago or any large Dem-controlled city, ride public transport and prohibited from carrying a firearm.

We moved to Chicago in 1967 as my husband did his internship at then Presbyterian St Luke’s hospital. We moved there in June, and I was 7 months pregnant. 2 incidents happened. I was riding the El downtown with several other wives. Actually 3 incidents. Anyway I was riding the El and there were no seats so I was standing and holding on to a strap. A middle aged nun was nearby sitting. She got up and gave me her seat!! Next I was walking to a grocery store in the area of Pres St Luke’s, along with another wife. This was perhaps a month later. August in Chicago and very hot. As we walked out of the air conditioned store I became very faint and told my friend I was not going to be able to walk home. I couldn’t even keep my eyes open. She walked me into a bar in the area and asked if she could leave me sitting in it until she could go get her car. It was a completely black bar as I could hear that. I heard the man she talked to say “ she ain’t going to have that baby, is she?!?” I did get a kick out of that. But she told him “no, she’s just light headed”. They sat me down at a table and I put my head down on my arms. Everyone left me alone and I believe I recall a black (I could hear her) lady asking me if I wanted some water. I could not drink it. But I was completely safe and no one bothered me. My friend got there and drove me to our apt. Next incident, someone stole my husbands black bag in the hospital and we could not afford to replace it. In am a nurse and we had decided I would not go to work as I was due in October. But we needed to to be able to replace my husband’s bag so I went to apply to work at Pres. They wouldn’t hire me as I was so far along that the nursing director said the patients would be too sympathetic to me. This again, was in 1967. I wonder how differently things would be today? Now, the $64,000 question (if you relate to that you understand), and the question NO ONE is asking, nor is ALLOWED to ask is WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE???

The last portion of that video showed a savage assault and battery that included punches, kicks, and stomps to the pickpocket victim's face and upper body. He was in immediate danger of being maimed or killed, overwhelmed by sheer numbers of attackers and blunt force trauma. Eleven attackers? Wow. Remember that Chicago and most other dark blue urban enclaves make it difficult if not impossible for civilians to carry legal firearms, and even if gun ownership is allowed in some places, Democrats like restricting magazine capacity to ten or fewer rounds. If one has more than ten attackers, he (or she) has a problem. Not nearly enough "boolets." That could be fatal to the self defender and his family. The basic rule of self defense against multiple attackers is like boarding house buffet rules: No one gets seconds helpings until everyone has had the first course. In a split second life or death self defense shooting, even most police will miss four of five shots at ten feet distance. It all happens in a flash. Restricting magazine capacity increases the defender's mortal risk and decreases his liberty. Recently I saw a video of home invaders who used a garage door opener to drive their stolen car into someone's garage late at night. They closed the door behind the car, and six got out, some carrying guns. They entered the residence and started up the stairs toward the bedrooms. At that moment the awake and prepared owner opened up with a pistol on the first three goblins, and all six fled out the front door, leaving the stolen car, a wallet, a cell phone, and probably one or two hastily expelled stool species behind. If that homeowner hadn't been armed, he'd have been in mortal danger. He waited until he could ambush the first few on a staircase. Very smart. It also helps to have night sights or a red or green laser on the gun. What would you do if five carjackers attacked you as you were getting into your car? Watch this video (see below) from Brazil. One of the five carjackers managed to get back inside the perps' vehicle. The other four attacked the driver of the target car. Of those four, one appeared to have fled and gotten away unscathed. The other three were shot, all hit badly, one as badly as could be, and would assume asphalt temperature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTnCrIdVkvo (off duty cop from Brazil defends against multiple carjackers)

Excellent, although scary, video, #28. Worth seeing by anyone who goes armed. Have you seen the "First Person Defender" series on youtube? They are worth watching by anyone contemplating carrying a weapon or actually a concealed weapon. Lots of good "think about this" situations shown there. And as to Chicago's "armed citizen" situation, the state of Illinois has had a Shall Issue concealed carry permit system for at least several years. One problem is that some public transportation modes prohibit even licensed CCW carriers from bringing a weapon on their vehicles. I don't know if this is the case in Chicago, but I would be surprised if they didn't do everything in their power to make it difficult for legally armed citizens to actually use their permits and be armed. But sometimes you have to decide which is worse, risking some rule violation or getting beaten, stabbed or shot to death.

Los Angeles Times film critic Justin Chang said Friday on CNN that President Donald Trump mentioning the movie “Gone With the Wind” at his rally was a “racist dog whistle.” Chang said, “It’s kind of unfortunate, I think, that we have a president whose entire presidency is founded on xenophobia and of course his comments are not surprising coming from someone who likes to dehumanize people of other cultures and people of color. So none of that’s surprising.”He continued, “Well, that whole thing, “Gone with the Wind” and “Sunset Boulevard,” that all smacks of a dog whistle hearkening back to an earlier era

A newly discovered species of snail has been named after teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg, scientists announced in a new study published Thursday. The critter, which was discovered in Brunei on the island of Borneo, now has the scientific name Craspedotropis gretathunbergae. "The newly described snail belongs to the so-called caenogastropods, a group of land snails known to be sensitive to drought, temperature extremes and forest degradation," snail expert and study lead author Menno Schilthuizen said in a statement. The tiny mollusk, which is about 2 millimeters in size, was discovered by citizen-scientists from the tour group Taxon Expeditions

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom said that medical doctors should be able to prescribe housing in the same way they prescribe medication to sick people Wednesday during his 2020 State of the State Address. “Health care and housing can no longer be divorced. After all, what’s more fundamental to a person’s well-being than a roof over their head?” Newsom asked during the address. “Doctors should be able to write prescriptions for housing the same way they do for insulin and antibiotics.” The crowd erupted in applause.

A former governor of Massachusetts is offering himself as a Republican alternative to President Donald Trump. No, it’s not Mitt Romney. Bill Weld has no illusions about winning the GOP nomination but says he’s running because it’s time for somebody to stand up and plant a flag. “The flag is decency. The flag is integrity. It’s not an issue. It’s not free trade,” he told the Deseret News and KSL editorial boards Friday during a campaign stop in Utah. Weld was scheduled to tour the Latter-day Saint Humanitarian Center and visit Utah Valley University. Weld sees Utah among the top three states (behind Vermont, ahead of Massachusetts) where he

HOBART, Ind. — A northwestern Indiana couple allegedly used a car to force two teenage boys off a road, angered that the twin brothers were riding bicycles adorned with flags supporting President Donald Trump, before ripping one of the sibling's flag from his bike, police said Friday. (Snip) According to a probable cause affidavit, the boys told officers that a vehicle with a man driving and woman passenger followed them before the male driver pulled up nearby and asked one of the boys “if they were Trump supporters” —to which the boy replied that they were. The driver then swerved

Appearing Tuesday on the Fox Business Network, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) dismissed record-low black unemployment under President Donald Trump, stating black Americans “were fully employed during slavery.” A transcript is as follows: NEIL CAVUTO: As you’ve been seeing with Michael Bloomberg, he’s been jumping in the polls on the heels of his very expensive, pricey ad buys if you include $125 million slated for Super Tuesday. Could you, would you back him? REP. JAMES CLYBURN: I’m going to back whoever our nominee is — Absolutely. CAVUTO: Even with the things he’s said about African-Americans? Does that bother you? REP. CLYBURN: Not as much as what Trump has said about African-Americans.

WASHINGTON — Richard Grenell’s tenure as the nation’s top intelligence official may be short-lived, but he wasted no time this week starting to shape his team of advisers, ousting his office’s No. 2 official — a longtime intelligence officer — and bringing in an expert on Trump conspiracy theories to help lead the agency, according to officials. Mr. Grenell has also requested the intelligence behind the classified briefing last week before the House Intelligence Committee where officials told lawmakers that Russia was interfering in November’s presidential election

At a CNN townhall on Thursday, former Vice President Joe Biden promised an all-out assault on our Second Amendment rights. He told voters that on day one, he will “seek to end gun manufacturers’ exemption from civil liability for gun violence.” Surrounded by people who have lost family members to gun violence, Biden said, “It is so long past time that we correct one of the most egregious special interest giveaways the United States Congress has ever engaged in – the civil liability protections granted to gun manufacturers against being sued by the victims of gun violence.” He believes this is “just flat out immoral.”
