Jessica Mann has admitted she was 'manipulative' towards Harvey Weinstein and gave him her phone number five times after he allegedly raped her, during a grueling cross-examination on Monday. The 34-year-old former aspiring actress looked confused and eventually asked to take a break after she took to the witness stand and was peppered with questions by Weinstein's lawyer Donna Rotunno. She said that being manipulative was an 'aspect' of her behavior towards him and that she sent him her new phone number five times after he had allegedly raped her to keep in contact. She also revealed she e-mailed him

I smell an acquittal coming. Sounds consensual to me - that's how the casting couch works.

Of course Weinstein is a disgusting creature, but perhaps more disgusting are the people who allowed... that is the word... themselves to be, uh, um, err, hmm... 'violated.' They are all cut from the same cloth.

It’s always been true, powerful rich men only have to “grab them by the
Pu$$y”. The same dam women who spent their youth chasing popular band members for sex so they could put a notch in their combs.
After years of sluttery and disappointment, all they want is revenge.

Harvey Weinstein is gross and disgusting, but this woman at least seemed to know what she was getting into. I think we can call it a "quid pro quo."

I am sorry, but, while I agree with those posters who see her as having consented to the acts, this testimony would make me more likely to convict: Harvey Weinstein bought sex from this woman by the implicit promise of making her a star and failed to deliver. He did this repeatedly with many women. He had the ability to make any one of them a star, but not as many as he promised. It might not legally be rape, but I doubt he would have had any qualms about that either.

So, breach of verbal contract with a prostitute? I think the sentencing guidelines are slightly different for that than rape.

I’m not defending Weinstein, and I’m not blaming any actual victims, but the transactional nature of careerism in Hollywood is a matter of record. That he got away with it so often and for so long is illustrated by this woman’s testimony — he was enabled by people just as venal and opportunistic as he is.

Harvey is a pig and all those women were hoping to make a fortune in the movies. Do those facts give Harvey immunity to sexually assault them? I guess we will find out soon.

I have said, and I believe that the women were using Weinstein, and he was using them, too.
Both were working a deal. He gets sex with young, good looking girls, and they get parts in movies. This is an old system, has been working for many thousands of years.
But these girls decided later that they could get more money out of the guy, AFTER getting famous.
Sleazeballs, liars, and crooks.....as far as the eye can see.
They deserve each other, and Weinstein deserves to walk.

They all know how the Hollywood casting couch works, the same way it's been from the beginning. What price stardom from the disgusting entertainment industry that styles itself as our nation's moral arbiter? The price would be a lot lower if the actresses (actors too, though they keep quiet) did not play along, then cry victim later, and roles would go to better actors and actresses too.
