DES MOINES — The Democratic candidates are back, and they’re trying to make up for lost time.
Trapped in D.C. this week at the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, the senators who are competing the hardest in Iowa — Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar — are here for the weekend and will be blanketing the state. That means Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg will no longer have the campaign trail to themselves. And they won’t just be competing for attention with the returning senators — an army of surrogate campaigners is also scheduled to arrive this weekend.

I cringe to think of a President Buttigieg. I mean, nobody can pronounce his last name, at least correctly. Most people make it sound like a dirty joke. It begs to be made into a dirty joke.

I don't know why any democrat voters would pay attention to the caucus, since the democrat leadership is going to have the super delegates vote first this time. Do you hear that, democrat trolls? Your party is going to select the candidate, no matter what you peons want!

I will enjoy watching them destroy themselves and spending millions to do it!
Makes no difference to me which old goat gets picked to go to slaughter --- I will walk over burning coals, crawl over broken glass and swim through shark invested waters to vote for Trump and then straight Republican in November. And for every mark I make on the ballot, in my mind I will hear a musket being shot!

Allow me to explain how the Iowa caucuses work, by drawing a comparison.
Let's say you are from a regular primary state, and you go into the voting booth with someone watching, over your shoulder, as you make your your selection for president. And before you can hit the 'confirm' button to cast your vote, the person tapes you on the shoulder and says, 'no, you can't vote for that person. His/her/they chances are not good enough. They lack enough support. So yo you have to erase your vote and vote for candidate X, Y, or Z.'
'What about candidate T?' you ask. 'No, he doesn't have enough support, either.'
You shrug your shoulders, and vote for the preordained winner, go home, and enjoy a cool beverage.
Is that process in Iowa much different than the Soviet Union? China? Cuba?

Not your fault, #7. The democrats offer nothing over which to get excited. If I were part of the democrat leadership (hurriedly cross myself) I would be at a loss over choosing the candidate best able to win the White House. There's an old corrupt, child-groping pervert who has supported a family of five with foreign business pay to play schemes, an old Vermont hippie who has an equally crooked wife and three homes but no sense and a shrieking squaw who lied her way from being a mediocre lawyer to the position of Harvard professor by checking a diversity box. The rest of the collection of homosexuals, corrupt small-time players, condescending dictator wannabes and racist lapdogs are not even worth looking at. Flipping a coin has zero chance of winning anything.

All of these vaunted analysts and pundits are looking the wrong way.
The man to watch is - - - - Deval Patrick. He disappeared the day after he announced his candidacy - - and hasn't been seen or heard from since - - but that was a brilliant strategic move. Deval is laying low - - biding his time - - pacing himself - - until he's ready to burst on the scene - - and pick up all the marbles.
Yes - - yes, indeed - - Deval Patrick - - our president #46!

Loved the Reply from #9... yes, Deval Patrick entered the race November, 2019... and all you need to do to add his name to #9's list is to read about him on Wikipedia... OMG! Another one!

#9, I am going to keep your descriptions, if you don't mind. I could use them to counter those oh-so "intelligent" and "woke" Democrats who think they have so much to offer.

At least one candidate will really tank - like Howard Dean did in 2004. Should be fun to see who does a jungle screech as their campaign dies a quick death.

Lord help me; I read that entire article while distracted on the phone. Oh well, I learned how each one is so very proud of himself. I guess that counts. Count on Politico to clean it all up with a tongue bath.
