Utah Republican senator Willard “Mitt” Romney faces a citizen effort in his home state to recall him from office.
RecallRomneyNow.com was updated in the midst of Romney’s public split from President Trump on the issue of calling witnesses in Trump’s Senate impeachment trial. Romney wants to call witnesses and drag out the trial — a stance that is being rejected by Romney’s Republican colleagues. (Snip)
Romney’s foreign policy adviser on his 2012 campaign, Joseph Cofer Black, served on the board of Burisma Holdings alongside Hunter Biden, which is important context when analyzing Romney’s betrayal of President Trump.(Snip) At Bain, Romney invested in the fetus disposal company and longtime Planned Parenthood partner Stericycle.

Their first mistake was nominating him in the first place. It should have been obvious that he is a walking disaster who would only wreck havoc in the Senate.

It's strange that none of this came out during his Senatorial run, or do Mormons not care, as long as he was Morman? Like blacks voting for blacks, no matter how bad they are.

I thought this had been looked into before...there is no "recall" of a US Senator or MOC. The Constitution is fairly clear...the Senate decides who its members are once seated.

This recall effort will fail - -
- - because Mittens has the strong support of the powerful online blogger Pierre Delecto.
No one messes with Delecto and gets away with it.

I did not vote for Romney in 2012 because I found out he was stealing electors by underhanded means in that election. I couldn't make myself vote for Obama either. I have heard many say that they voted for Romney in 2012 but will never do so again.

Romney's safe in Utah. He's got an "M" by his name.

I'm a Mormon in Utah, and no, we don't just vote for other Mormons......(in statewide elections many of the candidates from both parties, running against each other, are both LDS) I did vote for Mitt for president in 2012, but voted for his opponent in the republican senate primary here, and wrote in a name other-than-mitt in the general election. Blaming all Mormons for Mitt is like blaming all Catholics for Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi.

Re #9, I’m glad to see you show up on this thread. The slams against Mormons are ill-founded and tiresome. My very large extended family had and still has some very good Mormons. My best friend in San Diego was an amazing, amusing, very good Mormon woman. Time for us to put away broad brushes… They are never accurate and make us look bad..

The Burisma connection itself should have forced Mittens to be recused from sitting in judgement.

Don't get your hopes up. These recall initiatives rarely work.
As I recall Romney was never seriously contested for the GOP nomination. Given his prickly egotism all this was predictable. Let's see how he comes down on the final vote to convict or acquit. If he votes to acquit and has a reliable record on judicial confirmations (which are the real long game) he will prove useful to the cause.

Every state deserves to have the option to recall its elected representatives. Romney is not just an embarrassment to the citizens of Utah, he's also a shame on the Republican Party.

Prayers going up for their success. It's a funny thing how PDT outs the traitorous traitors and then down-down-down they go. It reminds me of Cyrus, king of Persia in the Bible, and how God's hand was upon him, specifically to show God's power and how He uses whom He will for His purposes.

I'd rather see him defeated at the ballot box. As far as Romney's popularity, I assume his association with the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake, which were financially successful, has helped him. But if he votes to remove Trump from office, that may do him in.

Forget recall. Primary him & vote against him in the general election. Id rather have a Demo-rat than a RINO rat.

The only dog I have in this fight is the Top Dog, the President. I don't really care what happens to Romney, but I'd donate the same money he returned to me when he shut down his presidential campaign (the year ''someone'' sold us out to Obama). I wouldn't want to muddy any waters, but if that monetary pittance would help get him off the front page, that would be money well spent.

Before citizens waste their time circulating recall petitions, they need to ask a very simple question. May a member of the U.S. House or Senate be recalled by their home state or district? Even if the state changed its own constitution by a unanimous vote, the answer is and always has been no. The courts have long since decided that a state recall of federal office holders is not recognized by the Constitution of the United States. The recall would be void. This is not a matter in dispute or simply a point of view. It is settled law. The Supreme Court would not even entertain it as a debatable proposition. If they had not been staring out the window or throwing spit wads at a friend in 10th grade, the backers of this would know their petition will be dead on arrival.

OK.... not all Mormons in Utah---- a significant percentage of the population, obviously--- voted for Delecto, but sufficient numbers of them voted for their co-religionist to put him in the Senate.

Rather than collecting signatures, facilitate a letter writing campaign from Utah voters to express disappointment and no confidence in Rummey. You think 120,000 such letters wouldn't be a huge smear to Mitt? It would be a huge embarrassment and a clear warning shot. It requires no changes in the law, which as others have pointed out, are meaningless anyway.

Peter Tasty has got to be taken down. But the Mormons stick together so it might take Conservative Mormons to work hard to get it done. Send him a message and send him packing.

Don't blame the Mormons. Blame Mitt Romney. It is pass time for Pierre Delecto to be kicked to the curb. He's a fraud, and he isn't good for Utah or the United States.

Romney made almost no effort to win the presidential election on his own in 2012, against a person obviously failing in the position, now he treats the elected President Trump the way he has ???
