The climax of “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words,” arrives when the venerable justice recalls the moment he learned his nomination to the Supreme Court was confirmed. Speaking very much “in his own words,” Thomas remembers thinking, “whoop-dee-damn-doo.”
The humor is poignant because it comes after viewers journey with Thomas through his whole life, from rural poverty in the Jim Crow South to Yale, from one marriage to another, from seminary to the Supreme Court, and from hard-earned respectability to a devastating confirmation battle. After watching decades of blood, sweat, and tears culminate in a character assassination of historic proportion, “whoop-dee-damn-doo” feels about right.

Justice Thomas is a man, head and shoulders above almost every person in public life. He has overcome so much in every stage of his life. His story is truly American, one of resilience, and great achievement. Among his greatest assets are his humor and humility.
When his detractors/attackers are gone from the earth, he will stand tall.
People, especially youth, will be uplifted by his stellar example of a life well-lived.
It is one of my own life’s highlights to have met him. God bless you for making this film. I hope it gets wide acclamation and acceptance.

I watched every single minute of Thomas’ confirmation hearings - it was one of the greatest travesties in American history. The only shining moment was when one of the Republicans (Orin Hatch? Can’t remember.) told Splash Kennedy to shut up. And he did.
Thomas has been my hero ever since.

The Feaux Marxist Kleptocrat Rico Syndicate Party plays dirty but not that well.
Their weakness for magical thinking and habitual deception have caused their best guardian angels to withhold their counsel without which renders a speaker hollow sounding and discordant without the 'ring of truth' harmonies which attend the voices of those in a 'state of Grace'.
Nervous, sweaty chain-smokers......every one of them.

Clarence Thomas and Ben Carson are great role models for blacks. Both men show how it is indeed possible to rise above personal obstacles and make a great success, no matter what your profession of choice is. I watched those hearings and was totally disgusted with the democrats of that era. He was right, they tried an electronic lynching, and they had no shame about it either.

The awful behavior of Ted Kennedy during the Thomas hearings turned me into a republican. And I lost any respect I had for the Kennedys.

This was when the feminazis started the Anita Hill mantra: It's the seriousness of the charge, not the nature of the evidence.
IMO, W should have appointed Thomas to be the Chief Justice.

MY GRANDFATHER’S SON was a great book. It’s been many years since I read it and I should probably read it again.

In my opinion, (which I continue to value highly) Justice Thomas has the best legal mind on the Court. And it will take one hundred years for constitutional scholars to reach that conclusion.

Anita Hill was lying through her teeth. A friend of mine was there and worked with both of them.
She sure cashed in, though.

My favorite Justice. To say that Thomas has a handle on the Constitution and original intent is to vastly understate it.

About Joe Biden’s obsession with abortion: it strikes me how sacred a cow abortion was and still is with Democrats. It’s a sacrament to them and they will go “crusade” against anyone that’s even remotely a threat to their precious trademark. Like the Nazis against the Jews.

Thomas is a great man and an excellent Justice. Every time I see him being interviewed, he seems so good-natured that I wish he could be my neighbor and I could get to know him.
But I sure miss Antonin Scalia. I'm not into most conspiracy theories, but his death gives me pause.

My migration from being a liberal Democrat to now a conservative started with the Clarence Thomas hearings. I could not believe what I was seeing. My Democrat party savaging this black conservative justice just because he was conservative. And then the Anita Hill BS. I was stunned that people couldn't see this as the set up it was. Within two years of his confirmation I had firmly become a conservative, being absolutely disgusted and revolted by the Democrat party. I read Thomas's autobiography and the poverty he came from and the the success he has made of his life with his grandfather's love and encouragement is a story that every single Black child should read. I suspect this movie is more of the same. But, it will never be shown in inner city schools. The Democrat party, the party of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow can only succeed if minorities remain uneducated and feeling as if they can never accomplish anything because this society is racist. That message is such a horrible, devastating message combined with the party's obsession with aborting black babies, it proves that only a truly racist party like the Democrats could continue to peddle those messages. Clarence Thomas should be held up as a giant that every single human being should aspire to be. He has a spine of steel. God bless him and his wife.

Had to do a search to try and find theaters showing this and ended up signing up for notifications. However, it is supposed to be shown in May on PBS. Since this is an election year, I'll go out on a limb and wager they'll find a reason to not air it.
