One House Democrat's accusation amid the Trump impeachment trial “stunned” even the most moderate of Senate Republicans, reportedly prompting GOP Sen. Susan Collins to write a note to Chief Justice John Roberts about decorum on the floor of the upper chamber. Collins, R-Maine, is the latest to signal her concerns, after impeachment manager Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., asserted earlier this week that GOP senators were engaged in a “cover-up.”(Snip)Collins is among a small group of Republican senators seen as a possible swing vote on impeachment and a possible supporter of allowing more witness testimony later on in the trial.

How in the world did this farce get so far? What is wrong with the gov't? Maybe it's time to vote them all out except President Trump. He's the only one working for America.

I thought it inappropriate for Justice Roberts to include the President’s counsel in his admonition. Nadler was out of line; Cipollone was not.

The dims know this will ultimately go nowhere, so they are laying the foundation for their post impeachment talking points; The impeachment hearing was not legitimate, it was a republican cover-up from the beginning, it would have succeeded if the hearing had been fair and witnesses allowed, blah blah blah. We will hear that line along with the totally discredited Russian collusion/interference crap until Trump is out of office, and most likely afterwards.

First they came for Trump, and Senator Collins said nothing...

Should Senator Collins have given the message to the leader of the Senate?
Being a true RINO has its advantages, I guess..

Collins and Murcowski both need to wake the hell up.
I believe Collins has some chance at it , but I have no hope for Murcowski.

#2- During Rush Limbaugh’s radio program on January 22nd, he noted Justice Roberts’ admonition of House managers and the president’s counsel and captioned that day’s transcript, “The Chief Never Trumper Admonishes Both Sides.”

So, accusing Republicans of a Cover-Up isn't winning over the votes they need? Odd...
He should try insulting them and calling them stupid, deplorable racists.
That always wins voters over and gets them to support you.

Rhetorical question: Are there truly any honest politicians? My faith in the republican party is scaring me. We need a strong counterbalance to the despicable, evil democrats. Schumer, Schiff, Pelosi and AOC, who acts as it was her time of the month, all month.

Collins doesn't really think Roberts will act on Nadler does she? After all Nadler is a democrat, a protected species in DC.

I remember once hearing about a clemency hearing for Sirhan Sirhan, the guy who gunned down RFK. If I remember right, Sirhan said something like "If RFK were alive, he would favor clemency for me." to which some wag remarked, "Well, that's the luck. The one guy who would set him free and he went and killed the guy."
Kinda reminds me of Shifty and his band of House malcontents ... they're trying to "persuade" three or four RINO republican senators and all they are doing is ticking them off. Keep up the good work, Shifty. Maybe the President's side should offer to give Shifty their 8 hours on Saturday to continue to make friends and influence people as they've been SOOOOO successful.

As painful as it is for me to defend Chief Judas John Roberts, here it is.
As an arbitrator for 30 plus years, it was sometimes necessary for me to admonish participants, but I always took the attorneys outside of the hearing room, and admonished them. I would have preferred Roberts to do that, but I understand why he did it out in the open.
By admonishing both sides, he kept control, and didn't al;ow things to go t*t for tat.
(Lucianne made me censor the phrase. Good grief!)

Senator is such a snowflake. I almost choke every time I hear Hugh Hewitt remark how intelligent she is. She is not intelligent; if she were intelligent she would not make these stupid remarks. She loves throwing a monkey wrench into anything the Republicans have planned.

#2, it got this far because the House democrats needed to satisfy Tom Steyer's demand for impeaching Trump, or he, and likely other billionaires, would NOT contribute in the 2020 elections.
So, they are making sure to live up to their end of this Quid Pro Quo.
And, they did it by removing any sort of fairness, or allowing witnesses for a proper defense.
Using secret room for testimony, leaking only what they wanted to paint Trump in a bad light, and then not allowing the House Republicans their 1 day, per house rules, of calling witnesses.
