Prince Charles avoided shaking hands with Mike Pence, the U.S. vice president. at an Auschwitz memorial event in Jerusalem Thursday - but then smiled as he greeted Vladimir Putin. A video clip of the Prince of Wales greeting officials in Israel shows him walking along the front row of seats, shaking hands with world and Jewish leaders. When he came to Pence, the vice president had his hand extended in apparent expectation of a handshake. But the heir to the British throne merely looked him in the eye before moving on to shake hands with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the country's President Reuven Rivlin.

What had Mr. Pence done to deserve that? And why would you be friendly toward Putin and not to Mr. Pence. Even if you didn't like the policies of Mr. Pence's boss and administration, the American Vice President is a far better ally to the United Kingdom than Putin is.

Okay . . . the optics were bad, but there is more to the story. Prince Charles had already spent about 5 minutes talking with Mr. Pence prior the sit-down meeting. Protocol says heads of state shake hands with other heads of state and with hosts. Mr. Pence is neither. A tempest in a teapot.

Why this family is thought to be at the apex of society is beyond me. Prince Charles demonstrates total lack of class, breeding, and politesse. In fact, he is a boor. Many of the British titled aristocracy have never had much use for the House of Windsor or whatever they are calling themselves these days, obviously with good reason.

Nice try #5. Brit Royal etiquette fellow quoted as saying don’t be daft. Charles knows cameras would pick up what they did. Vice-President Pence’s face said it all. The Prince and his climate-control fan boys for sons all detest President Trump. By extension, they dislike our good VP as well. Sometimes there is no need to overthink things. Charles knew exactly what he was doing and how it would be played.

Having read the article, the official explanation makes sense to me. But Bonnie Prince Charley is still stupid not to have shaken Pence's hand once offered, if only for the cameras, even if they did spend five minutes together just prior to this occasion. When one is paid $20 to $30 million a year to show up at events and shake others' hands for a living, one should have more sense than this.

Illinois lawmakers are raising questions about the integrity of state elections after the secretary of state admitted hundreds of non-citizens were registered as voters, and could have cast ballots illegally in the 2018 election. As it happens, Gandhi was having a picnic. And on this occasion, India’s future national hero – and one of the most famous vegetarians in history – wasn’t planning to dine on cucumber sandwiches. No, for the first time in his life, he was going to eat meat.

Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden this week reaffirmed his desire to have former first lady Michelle Obama be his running mate. “I sure would like Michelle [Obama] to be the vice president,” Biden said Tuesday at a campaign stop in Muscatine, Iowa. The comment came after the former vice president was asked if he would consider nominating former President Barack Obama to the Supreme Court. “Yeah, I would, but I don’t think he’d do it. He’d be a great Supreme Court justice,” Biden responded.(Snip) Biden responded: “They’re both incredibly qualified people and they’re such decent, honorable people.” The pairing would be a first

CNN's Don Lemon giggled like a schoolgirl as panelists Rick Wilson and Wajahat Ali mocked President Trump's supporters as a bunch of illiterate hillbillies. Lemon, who is the defendant in a scandalous sexual assault case, was dishing about Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's dustup with an NPR reporter who reportedly could not find Ukraine on a map. "[Pompeo] also knows deep within his heart that Donald Trump couldn't find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter U and a picture of an actual physical crane next to it," Wilson said. "He knows that this is, you know, an administration defined by ignorance of the world.

There's a great line from the movie I, Robot that often springs to mind when it comes to politicians. (snip) "You are the dumbest smart person I know!" "Dumbest smart person" should be engraved on an award. Mitt Romney and the three other Republicans considering calling witnesses in President Trump's impeachment trial would be the final four. Clearly, Romney, Collins, Murkowski, and Alexander are all smart people. They're successful. They've managed to get elected to the Senate. Romney himself is a near-billionaire in his own right. But they are willfully blind to the obvious-to-everyone-else tactics of the Democrats.

This is a winning strategy. Joe Biden, 77, told an Iowa crowd that he needs a strong Vice President because he’s old and may die in office. “Whomever I pick” for VP, must “be capable of being president, because I’m an old guy — no I’m serious!” Biden said. Cringe. Biden also said there’s “8 women and least 4 or 5 people of color” that he believes are “totally qualified” to be his vice president. Old Joe also said earlier this week that he would like to have Michelle Obama has his running mate.

John Bolton, during a 2005 Senate confirmation process, was accused by a female government contractor of harassing 'her relentlessly,' chasing her around a hotel, criticizing her weight and 'hinting' she was a lesbian. Melody Townsel described his behavior in a 2005 letter to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee when he was under consideration for the UN Ambassador position. 'Mr. Bolton proceeded to chase me through the halls of a Russian hotel—throwing things at me, shoving threatening letters under my door and, generally, behaving like a madman,' she wrote.(Snip) Bolton left the Bush administration under a cloud.
