The group of House impeachment managers who will be leading the Democratic charge against President Trump this week are making some new demands. White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, who will be the president's lead counsel this week, they insist, is a "fact witness" and therefore must provide his "first-hand knowledge" about Trump's phone call with Ukraine immediately. They inform Cipollone of these demands in a new letter on Tuesday, just hours before the trial is set to begin.(Snip for tweet) "Evidence indicates that, at a minimum, you have detailed knowledge of the facts regarding the first Article and played an instrumental role in the conduct charged

Then they need to remove Adam Schiff. He is also a fact witness if you want to go down that road. And didn't the Democrats have a guy testify during the impeachment hearing and then come around and sit to ask questions of other witnesses? Want a joke!

Just more Bull Schiff to wet the appetite of their base who's being convinced the process is rigged, or as Schumer believes, is tantamount to a "cover-up". I'm guessing the House Dems will bore the heck out of everyone, and not make an actual convincing argument, much like their two articles. They want to weaken Trump, and in the process the Office of the President.

They have no say in Trump's choices of his legal defense. Pretty much one of hte tenets of our legal system. Democrats are trying to deny Trump the best representation he can put together. I seriously want Trump to squash these slugs like they deserve. Schiff has no clue what he has coming and he deserves every single bit of it. Pat must be terrifyingly good if the democrats want him removed. They always project what they most fear. Pat C needs to chew them up into little swampy bits. I really want to see whimpering on a massive scale.

Janis Joplin’s home state of Texas was like a cruel lover—at times it would build her up and fill her soul with music. Other times, it tore her down and took another little piece of her heart. A fascinating, deeply researched, and powerfully written new biography, Janis: Her Life and Music by Holly George-Warren shares the story of one of rock-and-roll’s most unforgettable voices. Beginning with an exploration of how the Lone Star State shaped Joplin’s music and life, the book follows her eventual move to California, her shooting-star rise, and her death at age 27 in 1970.

In the fall of 2017, producer Howard T. Owens got a call from famed Washington power broker Robert Barnett. Barnett's longtime client, Hillary Clinton, was sitting on nearly 2,000 hours of campaign footage and planned to turn it into a documentary. Hulu was already on board to distribute it domestically, but would Owens consider producing and selling it abroad? The son of a onetime Democratic state senator from Connecticut and himself the former head of National Geographic Channel, Owens was immediately interested. He'd have to meet and woo Secretary Clinton and her top aide, Huma Abedin, he was told, and then, with the streamer, begin compiling a list of potential filmmakers.

Regardless of what you think about Harvey Weinstein and the accusations against him, our Constitution guarantees him the right to a fair trial. A fair trial includes an unbiased and impartial jury. That means you are entitled to jurors who are not going to hold their personal experiences or beliefs against you. Yet jury selection in the Weinstein case has been a complete circus, culminating in the seating of a juror who will likely be the key to his freedom due to lying about potential bias against the accused. As I’m sure you know, Weinstein is on trial in New York City for rape. He has been charged

The Trump administration is under fire for daring to touch a third rail of liberal financial regulation: the 1978 Community Reinvestment Act, or CRA. The proposed new regulations would affect 70 percent of banks by replacing requirements that bank lending target specific geographies or borrowers, such as low-income minorities. Instead, banks would set total dollar goals for lending to low-income borrowers, with the aim of helping poor communities broadly, rather than focusing on specific neighborhoods. Some of these loans might have occurred anyway, and critics (which include the Federal Reserve) oppose the idea that banks could get “CRA credit” for them. But the new policy should be welcomed

About forty-five hundred years ago, not long after the completion of the Great Pyramid at Giza, a seed of Pinus longaeva, the Great Basin bristlecone pine, landed on a steep slope in what are now known as the White Mountains, in eastern California. The seed may have travelled there on a gust of wind, its flight aided by a winglike attachment to the nut. Or it could have been planted by a bird known as the Clark’s nutcracker, which likes to hide pine seeds in caches; nutcrackers have phenomenal spatial memory and can recall thousands of such caches. This seed, however, lay undisturbed.

Take, for example, the senator’s tenuous grasp of geopolitical affairs related to U.S. national security. American commitments in the Middle East are of particular relevance given recent events in the region, the most urgent of which from the American perspective
