Sherrilyn Ifill was returning to Baltimore from New York on Amtrak train 80 Friday, as she does at the end of many working weeks, when she says a junior conductor approached and asked her to give up her seat. To say that the internationally known civil rights attorney, scholar and activist bristled would be an understatement. “When I was laying her out to the [lead] conductor, at one point, I said, ‘I can sit where I want,’ and I thought, ‘This isn’t 1950,’ ” the Baltimore resident, who is African American, wrote in her Twitter feed Friday night. What unfolded

I call false flag! Mighty convenient this happened just at MLK Day to this particular person.

Probably didn't want to give up her seat to some elderly person or some disabled person. Or she's lying.

When you are a carpenter, everything looks like a nail and when you are a civil rights attorney, everything including stupidity looks like a civil rights violation.

You’re probably right #1.
Assuming it is true that she was asked to move, I could not understand why from the article, but wasn’t interested in devoting much time to understanding this bs.
Quid pro quo joe bi.den should get involved and become a hero. Wasn’t hunter on the amtrak board? Isn’t amtrak the left’s hero?
Oh, that wonderful feeling of self righteous indignation and making people who have slighted you grovel. She must be loving it.

Only someone consumed with their race and racism would immediately assume that being asked to move to another seat was because she is black. That is the kind of thinking that will keep you in racism chains.

I litigated against Miz Ifill in the early '90's. As stated, she's an "internationally known civil rights attorney, scholar and activist," and if you don't know it, she'll be happy to tell you all about it. Apparently, she's matured little in the intervening years.

Was the junior conductor whyte? If not, the “courageous” civil rights attorney does not qualify for a Rosa Parks ribbon. Since Amtrak is a government-run railroad service, it’s highly unlikely there would be a pale employee on board, especially in the Baltimore area.

I miss Paul Hervey, w/b waiting for the ‘rest of the story’. I anticipate a completely different story if it ever gets reported. What was motivation for (white?) conductor (what handicapped person was (s)he attempting to accommodate?). This ‘world famous civil rights’ attorney - what has she done for CR since 1960s??
W/b funny if it was for a Joe Biden staffer, since Good all’ Joe only rides the Acela. Or John Kerry (don’t you know who I am)...

Sadly, in today's fake news, environment, I would be very cautious as to this being a set-up.
This provides her, and now others, an example of how things really haven't change in 50 years......
Otherwise, I fully expect her to file a civil rights lawsuit against that female junior conductor, and Amtrak, right?

Isn’t Amtrak 80 a northbound train? How do you get from NYC to Baltimore by going north?

There has to be more to this story. A bleeding heart reporter has either left something out or fabricated this incident. How convenient that this appears just before MLK Day. And don't forget, it's the NALCP-- National Association of Liberal Colored People!

OMG, racism on display so close to MLK day? The first clue this is fake news is that the reporting party, Sherrilyn Ifill, is a black civil rights attorney, that works for the NAACP. FAKE NEWS!

This is truly grasping at straws. Who knows the whole story? In any case, it does not appear to involve any racism or discrimination, just "evoking memories of just the kinds of civil rights violations she has spent her career fighting." It smacks of "Do you know who I am"-ism. Internationally known civil rights attorney, scholar and activist? I wouldn't know her if came to my door.

I'm confused. Was she asked to give up her seat because of her skin color or because she is a civil rights attorney, scholar, or activist?

Whole article sounds like a pack of lies! She wants attention! (or reparations????)
On a flight in China the crew put our group in the front of the plane and it was tight. Reason? The crew did not want to 'dirty' the plane and waste time checking every seat in the back. They wanted to save time for the cleaning crew as well as themselves. We all wanted to have a little more space between us but this was commie China and you do not open your mouth and complain!!!!!
If it is a policy of a carrier it is there business, not the Ifill dame trying to make herself a victim! Plllllllease!

There was absolutely NOTHING to do with "race" in this story. It all had to do with convenience for others, as desired by a "junior" conductor. It's race-pigs like this who plop down in First Class then become "incensed" and "outraged" that the "white male" Flight Attendant demand she "give up her seat" to the person who actually PAID to sit there. Racist.

It would be nice to know the REAL reason she was asked to move. Although badly handled, I strongly doubt it had anything to do with race. However, when someone walks around with a chip on their shoulder, their thinking gets warped about a lot of things.

Lawyer Ifill's business must be a little slow so she's trying to increase business with some free advertising.

Sorry there is more to this story than meets the eye. It just is not believable in this day and age and certainly not in Baltimore. It sounds like just one more example of a simple request for some reason turned into a big racist event. No one does this in this day and age and certainly not a young conductor unless she thought she had a good reason and it had nothing to do with race I am sure. It would be nice if Amtrak gave their side of the story though before Ifill makes herself into the next Rosa Parks which apparently she is already trying to do.
