Sen. Rand Paul warned his Republican colleagues to stand strong behind President Trump in the upcoming impeachment trial or risk political suicide as voters will be “very, very unhappy with them.”
The Kentucky lawmaker believes there will be a “political price to pay” for Republicans who vote to allow Democrats to call the witnesses of their choice in the process, telling The Gateway Pundit in an interview that he also would like for the impeachment trial to be over with quickly.
“What I keep trying to convince my colleagues, particularly the ones that might vote to allow the witnesses that the Democrats want to call,

Amen. In churches, synagogues and, yes, mosques, if those who attend love this country, should start prayer groups on a weekly, daily, basis, and pray for our President and our country.

How many Republican 'usual suspects' are up for election this year? Republicans have to defend 23 seats this year vs only 12 for the Rats. It would seem like political suicide for any of the 23 to vote with the Dems...assuming there is actually a vote.
Romney is safe until 2024.

Go Rand. Good for you this time. You stood up! But make sure, Collins and Pierre Delecto hear you message loud and clear.

You just never know which side of the Conservative fence Libertarian Rand Paul will be standing on. Welcome aboard Rand. See if you can fish Collins and Murkowski out of the swamp while you're at it.

Even if Senators Murkowski and Delecto aren’t up for re-election, there are effective ways to persuade them not to do something stupid.

Democrats got to call all the witnesses they wanted during impeachment. We have their testimony, unless the Democrats are afraid to release it. House rules dictated that the Democrats voted for dictated that the Republicans would have a day to call witnesses, but the Democrats just had to skip that part because it was urgent to get the impeachment papers under Nancy's backside where they could reside for a month. Since the now-smelly charges and testimony are now being delivered to the Senate, it seems that the Republican witnesses have not yet been called. After we have heard from them, we have both sides of the story. New stories and new testimony need to come via a new impeachment if the Democrats want to start up another. If the Democrats feel they made a mistake somewhere and did not call enough witnesses, that is too bad. It happens in court sometimes. The Senate is not the do-over chamber for the House.

Losing an election is the only thing weakling/ elitist Republicans fear more than Democrat/ media scorn. But, given their disdain for Trump and his supporters, some will consider a life as a DC consultant a la Paul Ryan as the best alternative

You people are ignoring the major part of the 'trial.'
Here it is.
Will Chief Judas John Roberts choose to insert himself into the trial process by ruling on the witness list? And if not, why not? That is what judges do. The power of the Supreme Court was decided by...the Supreme Court! Marbury v. Madison and McCullough v. Maryland are the key cases where the Court decided that, even though the constitution was silent on the matter, the Court would decide issues of constitutionality.
Chief Judas John Roberts, his impaired brain soaked with powerful anti-epilepsy drugs, may do something outrageous. He may let Schiff Head suggest that there is clear evidence of DJTs conspiracy with the Russian government to defeat Lady Lucifer in 2016. Schiff Head has been saying that for three years.
Will Roberts allow No nothing Nadler to introduce evidence that is hearsay, twice removed?
I am asking serious questions here. We are up against a possible constitutional crisis, caused by medications ingested by John Roberts.
This could be a debacle of enormous proportions.

How about just do what is right and throw the whole thing out. There is no way to hold a trial when there is no crime.

Mitt is waiting for a chance to polish his "moderate" cred for a third party run in November. He's the Arlen Specter of this "impeachment"...

For once I agree with Rand Paul. Hope what he is saying isn't just words. No Republicans have outright called for impeachment, but there are several that just cannot be trusted. As others have said: Its the usual suspects.

Stand with the US Constitution, (like our soldiers do)...
Stand with American values and respect for our citizen's right to elect their leaders...
Stand with Trump because "not being a Democrat" does not yet qualify as "High Crimes and Misdemeanors"

Over the years, I have taken note of #10’s wise judgement of certain issues more than once. I think he is right.
We have another problem. Conservatives like Rep. Jim Jordan and Nunes could be counted on for consistent bold support of Trump over in the House. We do not have the same united group of CONSERVATIVES in the Senate.

Everything I've read about impeachment trials in the Senate suggests that the Chief Justice the the Supreme Court has little if any role to play in allowing or disallowing witnesses. Those decisions are subject to voting by the majority of the Senate, called for by McConnell. I don't think Roberts can even opine on the constitutionality of any proposal, without going back to his Court and hearing arguments from attorneys from both sides. It would be nice if Roberts could have something to say and rule on with respect to the loads of irrelevant testimony heard in the Schiff hearings.

It will interesting to see if 100% of the republicans in the senate follow the lead of house member's 100% support of Trump.
