The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is working on implementing clean car standards. Gov. Tim Walz directed the agency to begin the process in September.
"If Washington won't lead on climate, Minnesota will,” Walz said in a news release. (snip) “Transportation is the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in our state, so tackling climate change means tackling emissions,” said Amanda Jarrett Smith, the MPCA climate and energy policy coordinator.

It’s communism of course.
They are actually rather open about it lately. Their plan to collapse the world economy is available for all to review at the party website.

Democrat communist politicians want to control their citizens. They just won't give you what you want - freedom, less government and lower taxes. Minnesota is gone for good if Omar wins another term to Congress.

When I see all the politicians and every member of their families get rid of all of their fossil-fueled vehicles, and shut down the airports, then I may think about an electric car. Just kidding, I love my old classic, gas burning street rods!

The electric cars won't be spinning in the snow because they won't even be moving. Batteries don't work when cold. How many will have to die before the left is exposed as the killers they are?

Minnesota, and any other government can do much more buy simply ensuring they buy electric vehicles for all state, city, county employees. Make sure every trash vehicle, ambulance, school bus, and every other vehicle the state, city or county use (except police vehicles) are electric.
Then, make sure every mall roof, mall parking lot, every factory building, warehouse building, their respective parking lots, every school building, school parking lot, etc... are all covered with solar panels - particularly across the Southwestern section of the United States.
That would be a true investment, and considering it's already tax dollars, they would eventually not have as much expense for electricity, coal, or gasoline, likely off-setting the initial expenses, particularly down-stream.
It does NOT require a massive restructuring of the U.S. economy, or some draconian measures.

Walz isn't even a native Minnesotan. He's got it made. When he retires, he'll collect four govt pensions: 1. Public school teacher. 2. National Guard. 3. Congressman. 4. Governor. Go retire to California, misfit.

The already short range of electric vehicles is shortened a lot by heating and defrosting power requirements. Gas cars use waste heat, so there is literally no fuel mileage penalty for heating and defrosting.
And how will they recharge these cars? Solar panels in cloudy winter Minnesota? Windmills? If they aren't going to build a bunch of nuclear plants, they will be coal and natural gas powered cars, and VERY expensive.
And folks won't be able to have long commutes to the country, will be forced to live close to jobs.
The left is very upset with FREEDOM, any kind of it. They just can't have it, have to be in control.
