Could this be the beginning
of the end for Iran’s mullahs?

It is easy to construct a scenario in which tit-for-tat actions by the Americans and Iranians lead to all-out war, close off the Gulf, send oil prices soaring, crash the global economy — and, if you are really going to go for it, end in nuclear conflagration. But what about the alternative outcome: that conflict between Iran and the West precipitates a counter-revolution against the mullahs and leads to an end of the 40-year Iranian theocracy?
The overthrow of the Iranian regime is the black swan event — or maybe it ought to be called a white swan event — which no-one is talking about, which is odd

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but removing the radical muslim stranglehold on Iran would solve the majority of the problems in the Middle East. The mullahs aren't going to voluntarily give up power so it's up to the people.

We need the beginning of the end of the Mullahs in the Dimocrat party. We have our own theocracy that worships global warming and wealth redistribution.
My dream is the Trump ends both types of Mullah.

So far the Iranian military and police have not been hesitant to use violence against fellow citizens in support of the moolas. Without arms and the will of the people to risk everything including their lives nothing will change. At least now WE have a president who has a backbone and maybe even the knowledge of history that in our own American Revolution the French rendered support.

For a coup d'état to successfully happen in tyrannical regimes such as these, the support of the military is pivotal. On one hand, every uprising in Iran since 2009 has been brutally crushed by the regime with no wavering from the Iranian military. On the other hand, one must understand how the Iranian military/security apparatus is structured in order to gain support for the overthrow. In addition to an army, navy and Air Force, there is the Pasderan, otherwise known as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). A quasi praetorian guard internally and a terrorist nuisance externally, the IRGC is universally loathed by the Iranian people AND the traditional military. I suspect that the military has been keeping their powder dry and gauging which way the wind is blowing before they act up to this point. But a leader must emerge to rally the people and the IRCG leadership must be taken out first before the Ayatollah is deposed. No matter what happens, it will be violent and bloody.

Whether or not they survive politically depends on how brutally they handle their political opponents. If they handle things the iron fist way like Kimmie in NK does where misbehavers get the flame thrower or the feet first wood chipper treatment, the mullahs will retain power. Anything less than this, the populace will and should rise up and make sure the mullahs get the Muammar Qaddafy death treatment. It's up to the people.

I was thinking that there would be mention of the latest round of protests regarding the downing of the plane the other night. It carried, sure enough, 65 Canadians... but they were mostly ex-pat IRANIANS. And the government tried to hush it up.
That final straw breaks the camel's back. This article is about the economic strain. OK. There's that. But I'm wondering about that straw.

Nothing is going to happen if one is waiting on the ever incontinent Iranian "middle class". This fable has been told a zillion times over decades by the Iran "experts" and amateurs alike. I suspect it is mainly the product of the Pahlavist deadenders around the Shah's place in Potomac and retold around their kebob shops.

The yearning of every human being for freedom cannot be suppressed indefinitely. Not by any theocracy or totalitarian regime. Sometimes all that's needed is that spark of hope that a greater power will not simply stand by. President Trump understands that. While our leftist elites continue to insist we stand by, he is letting sparks fly.

For the mullahs, I do not want a beginning of the end, I want the end of the end.

Knowing that the Iranian people are unhappy with the Mullahs and authoritarian rule, he should just tell them to break free! Like he asked unhappy democrats, he should ask the Iranians: ''What have you got to lose?''
The Iranian military wants to survive, so it will react in it's best interest. If military leadership decides that the Mullahs are toast, it will either disappear, or join the opposition.

When millions take to the streets against the Ayatollahs instead of supporting them, the Iranian tyranny will collapse, but not until then. It doesn't look like they are there yet. There are too many with blood on their hands. There are too many whose very identity is tied to radical Islam.

Torches and pitchforks will only get you killed. Not unlike North Korea, the military is a class unto itself. Their loyalty is bought and paid for by the Mullahs. PDJT's sanctions are designed to end the ability to pay for their military overlords and turn them against the Government and join the People's Revolution.

Truth is I don't freaking care. DJT has hit the nail on the head. His middle east peace plan is let the sorry buggers sort it out. If you harm an American you can run but you can't hide. Would be no skin off my nose if Iran and Iraq got into another 10 year war. HAVE AT IT. I might make some money betting the odds in Vegas on who "wins".

If indeed the mullahs are brought to heel or overthrown, I'm wondering how the left will portray it as a loss for Trump... hmm... destabilizing? imperialism? help me here...!
