BISMARCK, N.D. —
For decades, this conservative, predominantly white capital city has played host to refugees from around the world.
Immigrants greet shoppers at Walmart, process beef at the Cloverdale Foods plant, run the register at Arby’s, clean the Holiday Inn and drive for Uber.
Nobody used to pay them much mind.
“Life was getting better,” said 20-year-old Tresor Mugwaneza, who settled here four years ago after fleeing war in the Democratic Republic of Congo and eventually enrolled at the University of Mary.Things started to change with the 2016 election of President Trump, who has suggested that many refugees are criminals and has extolled his belief in putting “America first” by

Hmmm - - there's something missing from this article. I can't say what it is - - but I know something's not there.
Ummm - - let me think. Ummm - - wait - - it's coming to me - - I think I'm getting it - - - - yes, now I know - - it's the word "illegal" - - I can't seem to find it there. Why would they leave that word out?

This is a crap article from the LA Times, a liberal rag if there ever was one. This should not have been posted here; however, would have been more appropriately posted on the walls of skid row, downtown Los Angeles.

Yup, if these are ILLEGAL immigrants they don't belong here. If they are LEGAL immigrants, Trump probably has no problem with them and neither do most of his supporters. Yes, there are a some people who don't like any type of immigrant. That's unfortunate but they can have their own opinion as long as they stay within the law to express it.

Until Donald Trump ran for president, Americans were expected to keep their mouths shut about the increasing burden of legal and illegal immigration to their own communities.
They were treated as though they had no right to question what politicians were doing to (in Obama's words) fundamentally change the United States of America.
We were not to question the practice of bringing refugees to the US, but we were instead expected to accept that the only way to "help" was to flood the US with more and more people from foreign countries.
Somewhere along the line, our politicians and the MSM both forgot that immigration is supposed to benefit the host country. How mass immigration is working for the citizens of the US is a legitimate topic for further exploration and exposure, no matter how angry it makes liberal politicians opposed to putting Americans First.

Actually North Dakota was an immigrant haven until December. Guess what. January, February, March and April are gangs of fun too. If you can keep from freezing you better beat feet for California.

Walking past the Salvation Army (which, paradoxically, is near an expensive loft complex, graduate housing, and a four star hotel, many (most?) of the denizens were not speaking English. Do we have better homeless shelters here? What's up with that?

Over and over, the media palms this card.: There is a real legal difference between a "refugee" and an "immigrant." Refugees are subject to something called status determination. If it can be objectively proven that applicants face serious persecution or possible political murder in their home countries, they are given refugee status in law. There's a whole International infrastructure to protect real refugees, and the goal is rarely to transplant them into Western countries. The preferred strategy is to protect refugees temporarily and then restore them to their home countries safely.
Immigrants are completely different. An immigrant is, by definition, someone with no inherent legal right to enter and live in a country. They must apply and be accepted. Immigration is entirely at the discretion of the host country, and it can take many forms. You can be a landed immigrant, who is conditionally allowed to live and work for an extended period of time. You can be an full immigrant, who seeks the privileges of citizenship.
What you cannot be--ever!--is an "illegal immigrant." The two words are an oxymoron. If you enter a country illegally, you are a criminal, and that country is obligated---not just permitted, obligated--to punish you in accordance with its laws and deport you expeditiously.
The real bottom line is this: Anyone who isn't a citizen can be deported at the discretion of the host country. We have been neither discrete nor wise in managing immigration for decades now, and the election of President Trump is a reflection of a regret that many Americans feel.
And so-called anchor babies should never have been born here in the first place. A female friend recently came to the US for a 1 week visit. The US immigration officer asked her if she was pregnant, or planning to become so, which she wasn't. I smiled when I heard that.
I think the times are changing, and I like where they're going.

Illegals or legals? THAT is the key point, and the leftist jerks NEVER want to talk about the fact that a heck of a lot of these "immigrants" are NOT immigrants, they are ILLEGAL ALIENS and need to be rounded up and deported, ASAP.

Articles from the main stream media often point out how things or places even cities- are "predominantly white."
This article is no exception.
One reason: The Dakotas are mostly Lutheran (predominantly German), and the majority of Americans are white-skinned.
It is no mastery, and it is not sinister - except maybe to newspaper writers in Los Angeles.

The U N hand picked "refuges" are trust onto towns all across America. They are enabled by human traffickers and drug dealers that pose as Christian charities.

Ilhan Omar and her family were refugees like these. From Somalia. She graduated from university in North Dakota. We know how that turned out.
But yes, I was struck by the Times writer’s concern about refugees in Bimarck. Maybe it has to do with what and whom he relates to?

My youngest son lived several years in Grand Forks. People are very nice, food is good, little animosity evident. The UND and Odegard aerospace program train pilots from all over the world. Including drones. Admittedly, there is no view, (The biggest mountains are snow drifts in winter), winter is cold, but the people, including Somali and otherwise, are treated fairly and equally. Women are beautiful, tough and confident. Men are tough and confident. Given all this, and compared to ruined paradises such as California, It’s understandable that this state rates near the top in satisfaction of living.

In NYS, Cuomo has imported as many as he can to replace actual citizens who are fed up and moving out. This has caused the welfare budget to balloon by $4B. That's right, B for billion. He'd rather give free money to his cronies and doesn't want to keep paying for his imports so he's proposing the counties get stuck with the bill even though they had no say about the import to begin with. Communist NYS...thanks Cuomo, it's time for you to go.

Just because your country is a mess, that does not give you a right to come here.
No more foreigners. We already have too many to assimilate properly in the next 30 years. Just STOP IT.
No more foreigners, regardless of their sob stories.
No more foreigners, we are not the world's welfare agency any more than we are the world's policeman. Solve your own problems.
No more foreigners.

Poster #1 is exactly right: The distinction between legal and illegal is lost on the LA Times.
Legal immigrants are vetted for crime, disease, sedition and more (or should be) Illegals can be, and often are, MS13 gang members, drug smugglers, rapists, drunks, child traffickers and more (and don't give me numbers. You wouldn't accept 99 raisins and one rabbit-poop pellet as an acceptable snack).... the point is, they're more than we want, not vetted, and, because they're illegal from the get-go, less likely to turn into anything good for the country.

No American city needs to be “an immigrant haven”… These people were apparently taken in. Now they are starting to get political, whining that there may be future limits on more coming in, etcetera, etcetera. The latest gripe: The ability of the states to determine whether they can take more refugees or say “no more”...
