Former vice president Joe Biden is far and away the favored candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination among black Americans, boosted by his personal popularity, his service in the Obama administration and perceptions that he is best equipped to defeat President Trump, according to a national Washington Post-Ipsos poll. (Snip) The survey finds meager support for former South Bend, Ind., mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is among the leaders in polls in the predominantly white states of Iowa and New Hampshire but stands at 2 percent among Democratic black voters nationally. Huh. Low support for Spartacus and practically none for Deval (aka DeVille) Patrick. Does that make Biden's support strategic, in which case they probably won't go to the polls to support the flatterer ('he's clean... and articulate!) Biden.

The potential Democrat Black voter factor shows the Democrats that if they don’t end up with Biden as their nominee, that whoever their nominee turns out to be if that person is not Black, must have a Black Vice-Presidential nominee picked at the Democrat National Convention. Obama will take care of that.

So the Washington Post is quoting a poll that racially profiles its respondents, is it? Doesn't sound very nice to me. Isn't this the same organization that condemns others using trumped-up charges of racism?
The interesting point, nonetheless, is that the gay candidate has little or no support from the black community.

Are we talking about the blacks who all have gained employment under the Trump administration, or those that remain on government assistance programs?

My sense is that the black preference has a lot to do with the fact that Buttigieg is gay, Sanders is Jewish, and Warren is seen as a Harvard elite professor rather than working class. Obama is not really a strong supporter of Biden not that it matter to them.
My fondest fantasy is to have Biden win the nomination and then have the DOJ indict him for bribery in Ukraine the next day. It could happen!
