Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Republicans that the impeachment trial will start next week — with or without the articles of impeachment that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has hijacked for the past 23 days.
McConnell (R-Ky) echoed the warnings of Senator Lindsey Graham, who earlier this week said Pelosi needs to put up or shut up.
Mitch made the announcement during a closed-door lunch Thursday as more Democrats pressure Pelosi to turn over the articles, calling her gambit a waste of time.
McConnell alerted Republicans that “they should not expect to be able to go home next weekend, indicating that the long-delayed trial will be underway,”

I truly hop McConnell has control of his members, I really do. Because it won't take much for several of them to let their TDS flags fly free if they think their districts will approve. As to Turtle stomping on the arrogance of Pelosi and her insane demands for a say in Senate business, I say more power to him.
Somebody needs to stand up to that stack of corrupted crazy, and it might as well be Graham and Turtle. I just hope that they don't pull their own railroading and just go straight to dismissal, for the voters can see what a joke this whole effort has been. The public still believes in innocence and justice, and they like having a job. I don't think the GOP will take that away from them.

Republicans stink to high heaven. The Democrats are having their trial after 3 months. When are we going to get our trial of the Obamas, Clintons, Comeys, Brennans, Stroyks, McCabes? Why can't the Republicans ever get that done? Instead we have a Republican DOJ that has accomplished NOTHING! The DOJ and FBI have all government authority and can indict a ham sandwich--but cannot indict any Democrats, only Republicans, whom they put in solitary confinement, storm their bedrooms with SWAT--all before any conviction for anything. Even Gaetz has now gone crazy and is voting with the Democrats. Is there an honest person in DC? Only one. The only person I trust in the whole government is Trump!

I hope they DO go straight to dismissal--on the grounds that this whole sham does not deserve a "fair" anything because of how it was handled in the House. Doing it "by the book" just gives this entire circus legitimacy!
P.S. I understand Trump told supporters last night at the rally that the Republicans are definitely NOT on his/our side!

If the decision is to dismiss the kangaroo court charges, I hope the Senate convenes a REAL investigation of the "whistleblower" scam and the Biden shakedown racket. The only problem with a dismissal is that the RATS and their media whores will complain that the GOP "fixed" their fixed witch hunt. But whatever happens, they'll complain and lie.

More talk, still no action. No Articles; no trial. When will Pelosi scratch out Mitch's eye with a hidden bottle cap? This is all woofing.

I would like to hear Mitch say that the senate hearings would be as fair and balanced as the house hearings were.

iIt’s been 4 years since Obama had Comey protect Hillary from serious criminal charges, from bribery to national security violations. It’s been almost 4 years since Obama, Hillary and their crime syndicates abused the DoJ, FBI, State and CIA to stop Trump for being elected. And, after 3 years of Trump, not one Obama official has been indicted for anything. Yet a normal, non-criminal phone call on 7/25/19 with Ukraine’s President leads to the President’s impeachment in December and a Senate trial, no matter how ridiculous, this month. And the most corrupt US official in the Ukraine scandal, Joe Biden, is the leading Dem candidate to replace Trump. Finally, Gen Flynn and Roger Stone are facing likely prison sentences in the next 2-3 weeks for the crime of supporting President Trump.
Something has gone terribly wrong, and chants of “Lock her up” have been lost on Sessions. Barr, Wray, Huber, Durham and the rest of the DoJ and FBI, Hillary has not been locked up and she is surely waiting in the wings to revive her bribery schemes if the Dems have a deadlocked Convention.

So. Folks might rejoice in the theater of McConnell "dismissing" Pelosi-land shenanigans.
How about we gather around and examine the spectacle of neither houses of Congress abiding by the rule book (aka the "Constitution") ?
The House votes on articles of impeachment and either sends them over or they don't. They DON'T make any rules for the Senate to follow.
The Senate looks at the articles and votes to convict and remove or not. They DON'T vote on something that hasn't yet been given to them by the House.
Rule Book? Who needs rules? Especially when so many Americans have no knowledge or even interest in what the Constitution actually sez... in plain language?

The hush-hush rush-rush trial was so important and so secret that the Senate cannot be trusted with the evidence. We have to convict the President in order to see the charges, and probably not even then. The first article amounts to 'He doesn't help us win' and the second is 'He is mean'. That is all the American people need or are entitled to know. Orange Man Bad. Signed Nan (D) Pooh corner

Fancy Nancy’s very messy presser yesterday showed her to be a bundle of nerves. The pressure - of her own making - is getting to her. She really looked the fool...

Why have a trial. Let Pelosi keep here articles and shelve the process in the Senate telling her time ran out. Trump would only be impeached in the minds of the crazies on the left but really not impeached at all. Kill it I don' t like the Senate acknowledging the shenanigans' in the House and I don't trust the never Trumpers in the Senate. Just shut it down Mitch.

First, doesn't Nancy owe the Republicans their 1 day of calling their witnesses - Nadler stated there was no actual timeline in the House Rule, but can they actually send over the articles without complying with their own Rules without violating them?
Second, Nancy is going to issue them on Wednesday, the same day China and US are to sign the Phase One deal, simply to take that out of the news and deny Trump the good press.
