The couple who shot up a kosher market in Jersey City last month and the suspect in the Hanukkah stabbings in upstate Monsey had connections to the Black Hebrew Israelites, a secretive sect with some members preaching hate against Jews. David Anderson, one of the shooters killed in the Dec. 10 firefight which resulted in six dead, published rabid anti-Semitic screeds on social media and was inspired by the group. Grafton Thomas, the accused stabber who injured five Hanukkah celebrants inside a rabbi’s home last week, had attended the sect’s house of worship in East Harlem. Months before the two attacks, in early

We used to kid that the indians were the " lost tribes" . After giving it some thought , no, they were not. If they were Jews they would have never settled for travois transportation.

Thanks for posting, and many thanks to this brave woman for going into the "church" and bringing out this report. The first time I had heard of these folks is in the news surrounding the confrontation of the school kids with MAGA hats by the nutball Indian drummer. Apparently these Black Hebrew Israelites were the original group causing problems with the kids, and then the Indian moved in. In any case, they sound like scary folks, and they certainly twist the Bible a whole lot to try to come up with why Africans, and South Americans who have absolutely no actual connection to the Biblical region at the Biblical times are somehow "the real Israelites". Pretty unhinged, and sounds like they are dangerous, at least some of them.

As Californians Reach the Tipping Point,

Throughout the state’s history (save the last 20 years or so), Californians have been adventurous, individualistic, and bristle at the thought of being told what to do or at being expected to conform with rules set by “the man.” Starting with the Gold Rush, people who didn’t fit in in their hometowns went west to find fortune, fame, wide open spaces, or to be able to invent their own identity. That California spirit has produced the entertainment industry, Silicon Valley, Walt Disney, and much more, and has also led people in other states to jokingly label the state as “the land of fruits and nuts.”

The action is to discourage people from attending services. In a statement provided to the Gateway Pundit, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul slammed the governor’s plan. Democrat Governor Andy Beshear announced the effort on Friday, saying that the state “will be recording the license plates of those who show up to any mass gatherings and provide that information to the local health departments, who will in turn order those individuals to be quarantined for 14 days,” CNN reports. The health departments will be going to the homes of people who attended services and serving them with a quarantine order.

Our leadership class responded to the outbreak of the coronavirus by shutting down the economy on a nationwide scale. While this will mitigate the loss of life the virus might otherwise have caused, it’s clear we’re also confronting a challenge no medical innovation can cure. We face an unprecedented situation — not a global pandemic, we’ve seen those before, but a modern capitalist economy that turned itself off for potentially more than 60 days, on purpose. Uncertainty crushes hope. So the question on the minds of our leaders should be: how do we give citizens more confidence that we can, and will, turn the economy back on?

Delaware Governor Changes Shutdown

Delaware Governor John Carney (D) changed his statewide shutdown order Thursday, recognizing gun stores as “essential” and allowing them to remain open. WBOC reports that Carney’s original order, released Sunday, had gun stores listed as “non-essential,” and therefore under instruction to remain closed until May 15. Some gun stores throughout the state defied Carney, remaining open Monday thru Thursday of this week. As a result, three gun stores in New Castle alone had been served with “cease and desist letters and closed down.” Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association’s Jeff Hague reacted to the determination of gun store owners, saying, “If people believe that you have the right to keep and bear arms,

The FBI is helping gym rats looking to stay in shape during the coronavirus lockdown by promoting a fitness app — but it requires users to provide their GPS coordinates. The law enforcement agency urged people in a Monday tweet to “download the FBI’s Physical Fitness Test app to learn proper form for exercises you can do at home like pushups and situps.” The catch is that the FBI FitTest created in 2018 uses the “phone’s GPS and accelerometer,” which the FBI claims provides the user a “more realistic PFT experience.”

I prepared the chart below to put the current hysteria over the Wuhan virus in perspective. It presents simple data in a simple fashion. The first column shows average global influenza deaths per season, according to the Centers for Disease Control. CDC offered a range of 291,000 to 646,000; the column represents the midpoint of that range. The second column is flu deaths suffered in the U.S. in the 2017-2018 season, i.e. two years ago. CNN reported that number, citing CDC, as 80,000, but the current CDC site shows a lower figure of 61,000 deaths, which I have used here. The third column shows deaths in the U.S. from COVID-19.

There is a new book out that bids fair to win this year’s J. Gordon Coogler Award for the Worst Book of the Year, and remember the year has just begun. The dreadful effort is The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For: How a New Generation of Leaders Will Transform America. Its author is Charlotte Alter. The book takes its dreadful title from a dreadful speech given back in 2008 by presidential candidate Barack Obama, entitled, dreadfully enough, “The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For.” The book is another of those My Generation–obsessed books that have been appearing regularly since the most My Generation–obsessed generation arrived on the scene.

The COVID-19 outbreak is giving new meaning to those “sustainable” shopping bags that politicians and environmentalists have been so eager to impose on the public. These reusable tote bags can sustain the COVID-19 and flu viruses — and spread the viruses throughout the store. Researchers have been warning for years about the risks of these bags spreading deadly viral and bacterial diseases, but public officials have ignored their concerns, determined to eliminate single-use bags and other plastic products despite their obvious advantages in reducing the spread of pathogens. In New York state, a new law took effect this month banning single-use plastic bags in most retail businesses,

Illinois Democrats are demanding $41 billion from the federal government for coronavirus relief, including $10 billion for Illinois's cash-strapped and underfunded public pension plan. The most fiscally mismanaged state in the union that has criminally neglected funding its public pension fund for two decades wants Washington to pull its chestnuts out of the fire? Certainly, states should get something. But what Illinois is asking for is shocking. Chicago Sun-Times: “I realize I’ve asked for a lot, but this is an unprecedented situation, and we face the reality that there likely will be additional, unanticipated costs that could result in future requests for assistance,”
