Visitors to Florida’s picturesque Silver Springs state park have been warned that they may encounter an unusual threat: hundreds of wild, herpes-infected monkeys. The monkeys, rhesus macaques, originate from two small groups released into the Silver Springs state park almost 100 years ago by an eccentric boat captain. Their numbers have soared since then, and experts predict there could be 400 roaming the park by 2022.(Snip) It’s not just the risk of herpes infection that troubles scientists. The monkeys are also having a detrimental effect on native wildlife. Anderson found that the monkeys were “major predators” on artificially placed birds’ nests.

If nothing is done the monkeys will multiply rapidly, They already know that and have done nothing.

Has all common sense flown out the window? We have crazy numbers of dangerous alligators in Florida waterways, gigantic snakes causing young mammals native to the swamps to face extinction. Now these dangerously diseased monkeys and why aren’t they being killed NOW?

People will cry about killing the poor monkeys, an invasive species, but are all too happy with killing the pythons. Both have proven detrimental to native wildlife. Guess we can't please everyone! (I'm all in for getting rid of both.)

Step 1: Feed the monkeys to our pythons
Step 2: Shoot the python.
One round, two kills. Ammo preservation.

And once again, the same people who cry foul on killing the monkeys will be out supporting Planned Butcherhood at their next fund raiser.

Not familiar with this park but is that fresh or salt water they are swimming in?
Ye Gods if it's fresh water I hope it's not a source of drinking water

First it was alligators now it's monkeys open season, like feral hogs in Texas, we all know the answer to the problem.
I can't be bothered with the monkey business because climate change has priority. Bring in Greta to teach us about our out of balance eco system she is the Goddess of all this. One name comes to mind to solve this Troy Landry choot'um.

Dollar Bill Clinton has herpes, a fact uncovered by the Starr investigation. Dollar Bill's meetings with Monica depended on his herpes lbreak outs.
I'm not saying that there was a connection between Dollar Bill Clinton and the monkeys, but...I have to wonder.

Shotguns will work.
If that isn't OK, trap them and put them in nitrogen chambers for a painless death.
