After the most recent attack on Jews, this time while they were celebrating Hanukkah, I realized that as a radio host and vocal proponent of Jews being armed that I had made a terrible mistake. (snip)My mistake was that while I have argued the need for being armed, I have never given any advice on what to be armed with. So I reached out to some experts on firearms for advice.

My analytical brain just never stops . . . . Can an Orthodox Jew target practice on Shabbat?

One of my handguns is a Ruger lcp , 380 caliber, loaded with hollow point cartridges. It is smaller than my smart phone, light, easy to fire.
The most important aspect of carrying a firearm, though, is practice. Practice. Practiice. And you have to be willing to shoot someone. Hesitation means you may die before you can pull the trigger.

FYA "Here is the list:
Sig Sauer P365
Glock 17
Glock 19
Glock 43
Smith and Wesson M&P
Springfield XD"
All excellent handguns. Hopefully the new Jewish owners will get the training to operate safely and shoot accurately. I don't know why all Jews don't carry after what happened during the holocaust? If the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto uprising of 1943 had guns it may have made a big difference. For Jews in America exercise your God given right to bear arms!

Actually the first step is to stop voting for rats to run your city and to be elected to national office where they work 24/7 to disarm everyone. The biggest voting block in NYC is terminally liberal i.e. stupid enough to elect the kind of rats who not only openly hate them, but put their attackers back on the street if somehow the attacker is arrested. I have no idea what message could break thru the mindset of the average NY Jewish voter. They seem happy to keep policies going that require them to be continual victims. It is difficult and lengthy process to get a concealed carry 'permit' in NY state and just about impossible to get one for NYC. Funny that NYC insists on being a separate state ONLY on the gun issue and pathetic that the NRA and our justice system hasn't forced them to recognize the NY state standard on firearms.
Maybe after enough marches, speeches and attacks on them the NY Jewish voter will dare to consider a rational alternative to electing a rat for any office.

I'm not Jewish, but mind if I use the list?

I have owned a Smith & Wesson 45 M&P for several years now. For concealed carry, I have a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380. For the 380, I used a pocket holster. I can draw and be ready to shoot in one second. My wife carries a Ruger 9mm. We go shooting at a local shooting center regularly. You don't need to be of the Jewish faith to have need for protecting yourself.

Or in a quality holster in your waistband. Any gun in any "off body" carry mode is liable to be out of reach when needed instantly, and is more accessible to "unauthorized" people, such as children or untrained adults, at a moment's inattention.

You also need a carry pistol that you will actually carry. I carry a little Kel-Tec P-3AT .380 in a Sneaky Pete holster that looks like a cell phone case. I know it's not much firepower but it has a lot more than that big bore heavy pistol you left at home..

#10, I have a P3AT that is my "when the .45 is too big to be convenient" gun. And my wife uses that same
'hide in plain sight' holster for her SIG 238.
A great gun left home is useless. A small gun with you is you being armed. Choose what you can carry, it is different for everyone.
