Notre Dame Cathedral only has 50%
chance of being saved after fire: rector

The rector of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris has admitted there is still only a 50 percent chance the fire-ravaged landmark can be saved. Msgr. Patrick Chauvet said he is already suffering “heartache” because April’s blaze meant the 12th-century cathedral was unable to hold Christmas services for the first time in more than 200 years. But he said he is bracing for even more potential distress after the church’s support scaffolding is removed—likely in 2021—and officials learn whether the structure’s surviving vaults are strong enough to keep the Gothic monument standing.(Snip) The 855-year-old landmark was under renovation

Comments:

London, like Paris, is now an Islamic city. Will St Paul's Cathedral also suffer a "random electrical fault" and go up in flames, or will they convert it into a mosque? Notre Dame seems to be forgotten already, so if it does collapse when the scaffolding is removed, people out in TV Land will blame that instead of Mohammad on the roof. Clever. Michelle O. just happened to be on a boat on the Seine when it happened, lifted a champagne toast and everything.

Of course it can be rebuilt! After WWII, many of Germany’s most magnificent churches lay in ruins, but they were rebuilt. For instance, take the Lutheran Frauenkirche in Dresden. Not only was it rebuilt, but the builders used as many of the original materials as possible. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/dresden-church-rebuilt-from-wwii-ashes/

I'm sure Pope Frank will sell it to the Saudi's in order to tear it down and build Europe's largest Mosque... which I'm sure was the plan all along.

There is a 100% chance of saving Notre Dame if A: you have the will and talent and B sufficient cash and resources. This is why today, very few, if any, huge cathedrals are built. Lack of the two above.

It can be restored, if that is truly the nation's priority. But that would require will and resources now being used to appease the no-go zones.

I remember talking to a woman who was a kid in post-war Germany. She remembers Americans visiting who wanted to see all the war damage done to Germany. She said the visitors were very diappointed when they were told that the Germans had repaired their war damage. The visitors were advised, that if they wanted to see war damage, they should visit France.

Millions of Americans—including men—covered by Obamacare are now set to receive a separate bill for abortion coverage alongside the rest of their health insurance. The new rule, which was finalized by the Department of Health and Human Services last week, will come into effect on June 27, 2020. It will mean that the three million Americans who purchased health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) state exchange will receive two separate bills through the door each month.(Snip) The ACA already requires insurers to itemize abortion coverage separately but found in 2014 that many were still not doing so.

FISC is the judicial body that issues surveillance warrants to our intelligence agencies, principally the FBI, authorizing the interception of electronic communications of people located in the United States who are agents of foreign governments or who have connections to foreign terrorist organizations. On December 17, Judge Collyer issued a FISC opinion that was highly unusual because it was unclassified and made public. The Horowitz report said that the FBI intentionally misled the court by using incomplete and bogus information as the basis for it to issue FISA warrants against one-time Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.
