Donald Trump demanded an 'immediate trial' in the Senate Thursday evening after a day of drama and confusion over the fate of his impeachment.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that he and Sen. Charles Schumer haven't been able over the terms of a Senate impeachment trial, after the two party's traded angry accusations about how the chamber will proceed.McConnell, who earlier Thursday threatened to cancel an impeachment trial for President Donald Trump, described the state of play on the Senate floor after meeting with Schumer, the minority leader.
'We remain at an impasse on these logistics,'

Pelosi and her cronies in the house used the democrat majority to make rules that suited them, and they certainly committed to excluding anything that might support the President.
Now, she and Schumer demand that McConnel provide a "fair" trial in the senate. Too bad, Nancy. How the Senate runs is not your business. The Republicans run the Senate, and Mitch will now be dealing the cards. Live with it, witch.

What 'impasse'? Just tell Schumer how it's going to be and get on with it.

I guess I’m just a bit confused why the minority party gets any say on how the trial is run. Screw them and their stupid horse they rode in on.

In my opinion, PDT wants the world to know that the 'evidence' does not have any merit. Also, it will expose all sorts of swamp creatures and others.
The Bidens are just the tip of the iceberg.

Do exactly what Schiff did, ignore the minority party and get it done.

I don't see why McConnell needs to talk to Chuckie. Pencil Neck and Humpty Dumpty sure as hell didnt give their pubbe counterparts the time of day.

The right to a speedy trial is established by the sixth amendment to the Constitution.
The U.S. Congress passed the Speedy Trial Act which set a time limit of 70 days from the filing date of the indictment unless waived. Many states have also passed their own legislation as to time limits for bringing a criminal matter to trial. In California, for instance, the law dictates that a person charged with a felony shall be brought to trial within 60 days of the defendant's arraignment and within 30 days for a misdemeanor.
The can't run this scam for more than 70 days without voiding the impeachment articles. No one has ever tested this since its an insane gambit by the Democrats.

So many opinions...so little fact. Contrary to article, the constitution is silent on timing, and does not mention managers. The responsibility of the process lies solely with the Senate...and as the head of the SC acts as the judge, there is no appeal to the SC. The 20+rules that the senate has published for how the senate impeachment trial progresses was last updated 1986, but can be revised within the Senate.
With all due respect for various legal opinions to the contrary, the vote for impeachment and the articles of impeachment are public record...and if a majority of the senate wants to proceed..they darn well can revise their internal procedure and do so.

McConnell should declare something like this:
"Because the articles of impeachment have been made publicly available, the Senate deems them 'delivered' -- the House has six hours for their managers to present themselves to participate in the process. Otherwise, we will begin without them, and no one will be allowed to join the process once we've started."

Why give Chuckie any say? The House didn't give the Republicans any. Mitch should follow the House rules and tell Chuckie to shove it, then ask him how it feels.

This is too easy. Simply declare that the Senate Republicans admire the rules that the House Democrats used for their proceedings and can't imagine any fairer way to conduct theirs. Would love to see Pelosi's reaction.

Would love to see the GOP assert that the President is not impeached until the articles are served to the Senate. And the term can not be used as such. Your move, Pelosi.

Trump let the dems play their game, they think the America people are stupid like the media. Just go on about your business & let Nancy , Schumer Schiff & Nadler have their fun. It’s an election year so the dems will be ones who will lose. Imagine Nancy saying she wants fairness when Nadler & Schiff ran a secret basement dems only impeachment??? Unbelievable! I think the 3 should be committed, they’re looney. Is there anything the dems won’t do?

It's time for a deadline or else...
McConnell will play this exactly right. Although, he should not foretell the game plan. Keep them off balance.
