In a rare public order issued Tuesday, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court condemned the FBI for the errors and omissions in its application to surveil Trump-campaign adviser Carter Page and gave the bureau until January 10th to propose reforms to prevent future abuses. The order follows the release of Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report, which detailed 17 “significant errors and omissions” in the warrant application to surveil Page.

It's about two years late for them to react. Looks like they are covering their tails. Instead of a strongly worded letter, how about rounding the scoundrels up and jailing them for contempt.

Lots of good thoughts and facts from the Court - - but no action.
When will they exercise their power to jail people?

How about throwing out all the cases they lied in ..,that’s what courts normally do....and reimburse the defendants for the $$$$$ lost.

FBI. Federal Bureau of Investigation. Motto: Fidelity. Bravery. Integrity. FBI. "BS" would be a more accurate name at least as it relates to the FISA Court.

Perhaps the best reform is to never again use the CIA/NSA to spy on American citizens?
1) Do not re-authorize the Patriot Act
2) Deport all Muslims

"The frequency with which representations made by FBI personnel turned out to be unsupported or contradicted by information in their possession, and with which they withheld information detrimental to their case, calls into question whether information contained in other FBI applications is reliable,” wrote the FISA court."
THIS is a cataclysmic condemnation of the FBI, effectively saying, "We in the FISA court don't trust you.". One thing that has puzzled me is the court previously declared that illegal actions had been carried out in the searches of the NSA database. There was nothing equivocal about it. They declared the searches ILLEGAL. Yet, everyone seems to be dancing around that FACT. WHO authorized these searches? WHO got the information? WHAT did they do with it. The "WHO" should be in jail. Period.
This new declaration is basically saying, "If you won't hold the guilty individuals accountable, the FISA court will hold the entire agency accountable.". Mr. AG, Mr. investigator Dunham, it is time to rain lightening bolts on these people and describe their crimes in no uncertain terms. We need to purge our government of these people and any like them.
BTW, if we can't do the FISA court right, we shouldn't do it at all. Note, as I understand it, this court's only purpose is to approve surveillance of American citizens when they are suspected of bad actions in association with foreigners. Foreigners can still be surveilled without court approval. To stop such misuse, maybe that's where this has to stop, with investigating foreign agents only.
AND, note that this abuse happened on BO's watch and to the benefit of the dems. I'd call that quite a scandal.

This really is an effective case for shutting down the FBI entirely. Just close it down. It is corrupted, it can no longer be trusted. Close the doors and bulldoze the building, put in a parking lot.

I challenge someone to tell me the difference between the KGB/FSB and the FBI now. Other than the language they speak and their HQ location, I mean.

#4, it now stands for Feckless Bloviating Ideologues. Shut it down - it's not authorized by the constitution anyway.
Remember that little point about enumerated powers - that which is not expressly given as a power to government is prohibited. That's how it is in America. In other countries, of course, the reverse is true for their governments.

I suppose a woefully belated letter is better than silence, but just barely. Haul their backsides back into court, charge them with contempt and throw them into jail - with TV coverage!

More HOT AIR and nothing will come of it. Why don't YOU Judges find all involved in CONTEMPT and SLAM them in PRISON for a minimum of 15 years?

Big whoop. If I had lied to a traffic court judge, he or she would have me in front of his/her chambers so fast that your head would spin. And I might plan to spend a couple nights as the the guest of the county sheriff (at his jail). FISA courts should have at least as stringent of a standard. But then again, I'm thinking they're part of the plot.
The Judge says they heard 1080 FISA petitions last year and only rejected 1. Figuring 200 working days, that means they heard about 4 to 5 petitions each day. Obviously, there is not much of a "hearings" process, just enough time to ink up the rubber stamp and say NEXT!

The Judge should have negated all the cases based on the FISA misuse. Instead , she slaps the FBI on the wrist

The drip drop begins. Slowly but surely, no one will be punished. But let you or me do half of what they did.

When the Vatican is considering canonizing someone and declaring the person a saint, they have a "devil's advocate" who opposes the action. The problem with the FISA court is that its proceedings are ex parte and there is nobody to argue against the requested action. Obviously we couldn't have terrorists alerted and have their lawyers argue, but the FISA court could have a "Devils Advocate" appointed by the court to look for reasons to oppose the requested action and try to make the case for denial to the court.
