A New Jersey man was busted by federal authorities after cops found his phone number scrawled on a note in one of the Jersey City shooter’s back pockets, authorities said. Ahmed A-Hady’s Monmouth County pawnshop and house were searched over the weekend and feds found him illegally in possession of six rifles, including three AR-15-style assault rifles, three handguns and one shotgun, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said late Saturday. Authorities also found hundreds of bullets, including a “large number” of hollow-point rounds, according to the criminal complaint. The feds tracked down A-Hady, 35, in Keyport Friday evening

I suppose the investigators might dropped the third man from all discussions for a reason but it seems very strange. Even stranger is why did the press never question it.

This may be an actual bad person, I don't know, but the "large number of hollow point bullets" bull is just sad commentary on the loss of gun rights.
Normal, everyday ammunition with the same kind of hollowpoint expanding bullets which police and civilians everywhere else use are illegal to possess in the antigun hellhole called NJ.
Finding "gun criminals" in NJ, doesn't take much, since their gun laws make a mockery of the 2nd Amendment. A large percentage of the .22 ammo I shoot for plinking and fun is hollowpoint, mostly because with the small, high volume production .22 LR ammo, they cost less, since they use slightly less raw materials for the small bullet, saving material costs.

So who is this Ahmed A-Hady? Is he a black Muslim or from the Middle East? The paper did not say! And that last line: "Despite their ties to hate groups, federal authorities believe they acted alone." The FBI is living in blindness. There are likely tiny anti-government/ anti-white/ anti-Jewish etc. 'black' groups all over - in any place where there is a large black population. Here in our small city I have run into them - a couple who spoke out against 'servitude' and taxes and the government. I cannot think but 8 years of Prez Obama not so subtly fanning the fires of racism and 3 more years of people being encouraged to rebel against the 'Bad Orange Man' - has fomented a whirlpool of unrest and violence.

Yeah, yeah. It's awful and everything. But ... "hundreds of bullets"? I've got at least two boxes of 500 rounds of .22 (1000 rounds +) sitting on my shelf (in addition to quite a few .223, 12 gauge, 30-06, 25-06, .357 and .38). Those New Jersey folks must think guns (a mean'ole AR-15) are scary! evil!.
Thank God the guy wasn't caught driving a global polluting SUV!

Am I to understand that it is illegal to possess the seven firearms listed and hundreds of rounds of ammo? This is written up as an arsenal.
In my state, that would be a small gun collection. Most of my friends have at least seven gun safes.

A friend once said he planned to have enough guns to arm his neighbors if TSHTF at some future point. I have no idea how many guns he died with, but he had several very large safes.

Growing up the idea of a "Gun safe" was unknown! Between ranch life, hunting and one grandfather being a game warden there were always firearms around and the idea of locking them wasn't a concept I grew up with.
As for ammo I consider a thousand rounds for each semi-auto caliber and 500 for the wheel guns, bolts and single shots as minimum inventory levels.

Oh, and one of the 12 Gauge pumps does not rest in one of the safe's unless I'm not home...

Yea, K! A gun safe is going to be pretty awesome when two or three thugs have kicked in your front door at 4:00 AM! If you don't have an effective tool within 4 feet of anyplace you are at in your home you are a fool! You certainly don't have time to open a gun safe and take out your safe queens which probably haven't been fired for 5 years and defend your family! If you have children, make arrangements for their safety, starting with educating them on safety early and often! Take them shooting and teach them respect for the gun and especially the axiom that ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED...EVEN IF YOU TELL ME THEY ARE NOT AND I WILL NOT TOUCH THE TRIGGER UNTIL I'M READY TO DESTROY WHAT IS IN FRONT OFME!

What were the non-AR15-type rifles?

Was this the third man seen on the scene, who was then dropped from further reporting? He probably drove the van back home after the team stole a UHaul truck for no apparent reason.
