Memphis, Tenn.—A Tennessee family wants to warn others after an alarming video was discovered from inside their 8-year-old daughter's room. Ashley LeMay shared the video with FOX 17 News and says that hackers gained access to a Ring video camera that had only been in her daughter's room for a few days. The story is a horrifying one for families, as what was supposed to add more protection for a child turned into a scary situation.(Snip) LeMay said the camera was a way to keep an eye on her three daughters and stay close while working night shifts

I'm going to open my front door and let whoever feels like it come in and wander around my house. I am that stupid that I deserve everything I get. In the olden days on a chat room site this was referred to as "lurking". If you want to have 100 ghosts lurking in your home, get SIRI or any of the above spy cams. Said Tennessee family just wised up I hope.

Remember to change your passwords. Every 30 to 90 days. Have seen stories on TV about this. The security companies get hacked, and the hackers have access to client's security information like passwords, and can take over everything remotely.

This should pretty well finish off this thoroughly bad idea.

#2 Passwords ? Seriously ? Try the password " hehehehehehe" Won't keep the NSA out but it might fool your 16 year old neighbor if she's Greta Toonberg.

The culture of sharing, inculcated since Kindergarten, is partially responsible for this. It's amazing to me how many have the whats-yours-is-mine and vice versa view of life. Fakebook, Twitter, Pentagram, etc. are quantum manifestations of this disorder.

They didn't set up the security so what do you expect? Two factor logins make this impossible unless they have you 2nd device in hand.

Installing remote accesscameras anywhere IN your house but especially in your child's bedroom, what a computer savvy pervert's dream. Sorry, this was a bad idea and it still is, period.

Whether the family set up a double password or whatever, it sounds like a hacker needs castrated with a dull, rusty pocketknife.

I think the parents are the pervs, aside from being dumb-as-a-rock stupid. An 8 year old isn't threatened by sudden infant death syndrome, so why are they watching her room: selling drugs, orgies?
Wait 20 years and show the family pictures - and here's a still from her room-cam when she was 10...
Add the prospect of the hacking and you have a disaster.

I am not condoning it. However, what were the parents thinking by installing a camera in their little girl's room?

Several of my friends have "Alexa" playing music for them and answering questions. I think they're damn fools. That thing is listening to everything that goes on around it.

What kind of an ignorant fool would buy a camera, which is on the Internet, and put it in his child's room?
Beyond stupid.

Put everything in your house behind a firewall by activating it in your router.

Imagine installing such a device inside your house. Bad enough to have Amazon contractors peering in on you, let alone others.
