The Guardian headline reads: “DOJ Internal watchdog report clears FBI of illegal surveillance of Trump adviser.”
If the report released Monday by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz constitutes a “clearing” of the FBI, never clear me of anything. Holy God, what a clown show the Trump-Russia investigation was.
Like the much-ballyhooed report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the Horowitz report is a Rorschach test, in which partisans will find what they want to find.

Taibbi is one of Theirs, not one of Ours. This is a pretty shocking revelation...

Trump was ridiculed when he said he was spied on, now we know he was spied on.
We were told (Comey's word) that there was a "mosaic" of evidence that Trump colluded with Russians, there was only the dossier.
We were told the dossier was verified. The dossier was verified to have been rubbish before the first presentation to the FISA court.
We were told that the dossier came from multiple sources. In fact all sources through deliberate leaks stemmed from the one and only focal point source, Steele.
We were told (directly by Shifft) that there were multiple sources of proof of Trump's quid quo pro with Ukraine. In fact there was one phone call
We were told that phone call was proof of a quid quo pro. There was no quid quo pro and Trump couldn't have made it more clear to the ambassador called to testify against him.
We were told that phone call was proof of extortion. There was no extortion
We were told that phone call was proof of bribery. There was no bribery
We were told that phone call was proof of abuse of power when in fact by law Trump must make sure aid does not feed corruption.
Yet the impeachment circus lives on.

FTA: "But after getting the reports, the OGC unit chief said, 'receipt of the Steele reporting changed her mind on whether they could establish probable cause.'”
Let this sink in...anyone can be charged for anything if someone says its so and the FBI is told. This is what makes all this frightening. None of the so-called safeguards, including the integrity of the highly-trusted people involved, stopped this. Certainly there must have been ONE FBI/CIA/NSC honest enough to come forward...guess not. America's trust has been misplaced.
Imagine the damage these people who failed America, including all those hard working agents and employees who remained silent, hath wrought.

#2, you could be an effective speechwriter. I could picture Trump or Barr saying these things the way you said them.
As for Taibbi, he reminds me of what a lot of "liberals" were long, long ago - sane people who disagreed with you about the route to high level goals instead of people who essentially want everyone who disagrees with them to be put into gulags. I'm glad I disagree with him on policy because it's refreshing to see him look at facts unblinkingly and call bull***t on his own side as well as the other side.

Good to have a nutcase, reflexively leftist rag like RS generally on the right side of this.
But, I really do strenuously object to the author calling this "a clown show", and to his characterization as "almost comical". NO! That implies that this came from incompetence, stupidity, foolishness and ignorance. THAT is absolutely NOT the case, and it is a backhanded defense for the traitorous, malicious, anti-American, literally Communist snakes that did this to our country.
This was a carefully plotted, well thought out, planned-in-detail, rigorously diabolical, treasonous attempt to prevent a legitimate candidate from being elected, and once elected to get him thrown out of office by illegal, traitorous backstabbing, with the assistance of an evil media.
NEVER let them laugh this off with, "Boy, these guys sure were dumb. Ain't that embarrassing. We sure need to get some smarter guys next time. Yuk, yuk, yuk."
No, this was cold and calculated treason and people need to be put in prison for what they did, not laughed at and fired. Prison for traitors, not laughs at clowns.

Can we get our 35 million back and all the nasty headlines, CNN lying 24/7 about President Trump and all the brainwashed lefties who are like parrots who keep repeating the debunked lies? No we cannot. And the left knows it all to well. Mission accomplished on their end.

This is from ROLLING STONE. Rolling Stone. Let that sink in. Matt Taibbi is actually a fair very reporter who happens to be on the left. I'm not shocked he came to this conclusion but I am shocked that RS actually published it.
