Ambassador to the European Union Gordan Sondland announced Friday that he was being recalled from his post by President Donald Trump. “I was advised today that the President intends to recall me effective immediately as United States Ambassador to the European Union,” he said in a statement. Sondland testified in President Trump’s impeachment trial, informing members of Congress that in his mind he felt there was a quid quo relationship between the president’s decision to halt aid to Ukraine and convincing Ukrainian officials to announce an investigation into Hunter Biden and the corrupt gas company Burisma.

’ve never understood Mitt Romney, (Snip) Once the subject turns to politics, law, and morality, the things Romney says and his actions don’t quite match, or his reasoning doesn’t cohere. Unable to understand him, I’ve found him impossible to believe. And on two subjects in particular it has been impossible to reconcile his words and actions: abortion and Donald Trump. Exploring the first can help us illuminate his approach to the latter. In 1994, seeking to defeat Ted Kennedy, Romney argued vigorously, but implausibly, that he was as much or more pro-choice than Ted Kennedy. He and his wife went to a Planned Parenthood fundraiser and donated $150 to

Former National Security Council official Tim Morrison testified during the House Intelligence Committee’s closed-door hearings in the impeachment inquiry in October that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman had been suspected by others of leaking information — apart from the controversy over President Donald Trump’s July 25th telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Vindman was removed from his job at the National Security Council on Friday and escorted from White House grounds. (Snip) Vindman’s lawyer said that there was “no question in the mind of any American” that his client had been fired for testifying (Snip) However, there may also have been an independent reason: he was suspected of being a leaker.

The U.S. Treasury Department has started turning over confidential banking records related to Hunter Biden in response to requests from Senate investigative committees. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson asked the treasury in November for "suspicious activity reports," banking alerts involving money laundering or fraud, related to Biden and his associates. A spokeswoman for Sen. Ron Wyden, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, told Yahoo News that the department has already started turning over records. The Wyden spokeswoman criticized the Treasury Department for "rapidly complying" with the requests, calling the Republican-led Senate investigation of Biden a "sideshow.”

Mitt “Pierre Delecto” Romney is enjoying an outpouring of “strange new respect” from the media today after voting with the Democrats to impeach President Trump. This isn’t the first time he’s behaved like a bitter sanctimonious weasel when it comes to Donald Trump. Four years ago, Romney used his clout as the Republican Party’s 2012 nominee to gather the media to Salt Lake City with great fanfare to hear his thoughts on the 2016 race just days before the crucial Michigan primary.

It’s been a great week! In Iowa, the party that claims to be devoted to “science” and “technology” demonstrated that it couldn’t count to 10. Trump delivered a triumphant State of the Union address, highlighting all he’s done to make America great again — and attacking previous administrations for failing to do so. It was such a bravura performance that when he was finished, Speaker Nancy Pelosi childishly tore up his speech from the podium in a shocking breach of decorum. Hours after the president’s address, he was scheduled to be “acquitted” in the Senate impeachment trial — if that’s the right word for a dismissal of the most absurd charges ever brought

The Chicago Police Department told Fox News the beating is under investigation, but no one is in custody because the victim “was unable to identify his attacker(s) due to his injuries.” A police source told Fox that the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office “wouldn’t touch” the case if the victim can’t identify those accused or is unable to cooperate. The most important thing that happened during President Trump’s post-impeachment rant at the White House didn’t happen at the lectern. Yes, as usual, he called me a sleaze and scum and a dirty cop and said he likely would no longer be president if he hadn’t fired me. Although I still can’t follow the logic of that last bit, it doesn’t matter.
