Former Vice President Joe Biden is refusing to explain what he meant when he used the term “roaches” at the renaming of a community pool in 2017.
(Snip) Things took a strange turn, however, when the former vice president began to share personal stories from his time as a lifeguard at the pool. (Snip)
“So I learned about roaches, I learned about kids jumping on my lap,” the former vice president told the audience in Delaware. “And I loved kids jumping on my lap.”
Biden’s use of the term “roaches” without any context when talking about his tenure as a lifeguard was met with confusion on social media.

On the other hand, the writer includes a fair amount of background information on the racial connotation of “roaches”, including this:
The Racial Slur Database, an online website working to combat racism by educating on the etymology of denigrating language, characterizes “roach” as an offensive term used against African Americans. A 2017 paper published by the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, denotes the term derives from the tragic history of slavery. European ships carrying enslaved Africans were the first to bring cockroaches to North America—a result of the often cramped, filthy, and inhumane conditions blacks were subject to below deck. The introduction of an invasive species, like the cockroach, alongside slavery in North America gave rise to unfair racial connections.
And there’s more.

If a Republican had said that, we'd be hearing about racist statements and dog whistles until the cows came home -- and left again.

Joe was smoking the weed
Exactly. As soon as I heard this I knew what he was talking about. He was identifying with the black urban culture that was routinely doing weed before white hippies made it middle class.

He said it within the same remarks about kids wanting to play with the hair on his legs and bouncing in his lap. I vote for the old definition “pests”.

Let's see what happens if he misspells the word potato... Like Dan Quayle did. Weeks of humiliation for poor Dan.

FTA "More than 75 percent of the families who reported having children under the age of 18 were living below the poverty level. Likewise, more than 61 percent of individuals over the age of 18 in the area were living below the poverty threshold."
I wonder, any word if things have changed for the better under Democrat rule? I'll admit to not reading the whole article ... since the mere mention of this dodering old fools' name makes me a little ill.

Given the time frame, I think he was referring to smoking pot. Not sure why he won’t admit it, there’s a whole group of pot smokers and growers and black market retailers that would be impressed! And it would earn him points in Colorado and Calizuela and other states where it’s legal. Maybe he just doesn’t remember.

Joe making moronic out of any possible context remarks is normal. People twisting themselves in knots trying to explain Joe are wasting their time and mine.

"I think you were stoned when you said it." -- Corey Booker to Joe Biden at the last debate. Lifetime stoners communicating. Explains Joe's syntax and his queer looks when he is shocked to find out he just made a time-warp blunder in front of a democrat. In front of any one else he swears to it, or says no one has ever said that, and challenges you to a duel. The democrat shameless lie. Any of them validating Warren's and AOC's trillion dollar Green plans is on something. Maybe, delusion. These people, and may I say "these ugly boring people", have no interest in being decent role models, or finding absolute truth. They want to be children forever. They want deniability on Judgment Day. They are girls and girls just want to have fun. Stupid enough to want to legalize dope. Because they can. They are your indulgent friends -- as Rome burns. BTW, its a real spirit Jack, and despite the goofs and wow colors and brilliant sex -- its playing with you until your suicide moment. Meantime, you incompetent frauds and lesbians are ruining the country.

"Roaches" used to be slang to refer to cigarettes. But the fact that Joey refuses to explain is either he can't remember or else the term refers to blacks.
