Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg referred to New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, a black opponent for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, as "well spoken," a comment that, like Joe Biden's 2007 faint praise of rival Barack Obama as "articulate and bright," drew criticism. Bloomberg, 77, addressed the presidential prospects of Booker, 50, in a CBS interview aired Friday morning. Before winning his Senate seat in a 2013 special election, Booker was mayor of Newark, just west of New York City. “Cory Booker endorsed me a number of times, and I endorsed Cory Booker a number of times. You know, I don't understand why some people would consider that to be an insult. If someone called me "well-spoken", I would consider it a compliment. I know that some people would say "as apposed to what?" and, to those people, I say "as apposed to nothing. Stop trying to find an insult in everything people say to you"

With the comical idiocy of the Democratic field, and with Bloomberg's overwhelming pile of cash (we're being inundated now with his ads up here in Massachusetts-directed at New Hampshire primary voters), I think it perfectly plausible that Bloomberg ends up with the Democratic nomination. Them Trump absolutely clobbers him in the final, with Trump getting 35% of the black vote.

Cory is impulsive and petulant and self serving. Were he "well spoken" he could mask these character flaws. Knowing how to conjugate irregular verbs does not a William F. Buckley make.

Bloomberg, so far, comes across as a total complete fraud, - He claims to have created 400,000 jobs. I doubt he even employs that many people. - He claims to have rebuilt NYC after 9/11. Really? What did Rudy do? - He claims to have stopped the coal lobby. How many jobs did he kill? Did he do anything to help displaced coal workers? Not very humanitarian of you, Bloomie. Besides that, Trump has undone everything you supported. - He claims to have stopped the gun lobby legislation, and prevented candidates supported by the gun lobby from being elected. If so, why are gun sales at an all time high? The guy likes to boast (lie). Except for his work involving salt shakers and the Big Gulp. He doesn't seem to want to talk about that.

In the spring and fall migration seasons each year, billions of birds wind through the central U.S. as they soar the skies between Latin America and Canada. For many, the journey is deadly. Recent research from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in New York estimates that a whopping 600 million birds in the U.S. die every year after crashing into tall buildings. And for traveling birds, Chicago — where a skyline of glass and steel stretches across a heavily trafficked migration route — may be the most perilous of all U.S. cities. DENVER -- Denver Public Schools and Denver police are investigating reports involving students being harassed on a field trip to the Denver Public Library. Sixth graders from Skinner Middle School in northwest Denver were visiting the library Thursday when students say a group of homeless people near the entrance began swearing at them, using racial slurs and using inappropriate hand gestures. At one point, multiple students say a handgun fell off a man's lap and onto the ground near the students. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden lashed out at a man on Thursday during an Iowa town hall, challenging him to an IQ test and calling him a liar. But many observers think the former vice president may have also mocked the man’s weight. (Snip) When Biden said the word in question, a group of schoolchildren off-camera gasped, thinking the former VP did, indeed, call the man “fat”. “Look, fat, look, here’s the deal,” Biden appears to have said near the end of the exchange, prompting the voter to tell Biden he lacks a backbone. WASHINGTON — The Democratic presidential contest in California remains extremely fluid — but not enough, at least so far, to provide an opening for Michael Bloomberg, who entered the race two weeks ago and was banking on winning big in the delegate-rich state, a new poll for the Los Angeles Times has found. The survey by the University of California, Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies found that both Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — the commanding front-runner in a September California poll — and former Vice President Joe Biden have lost ground among the state’s likely Democratic primary voters over

WASHINGTON - The third most senior House Democrat wants a vote on articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump — and the charges against him to include obstruction of justice related to the findings of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. That controversial strategic position, laid out by House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., in a brief interview with McClatchy on Tuesday evening, is the strongest and most decisive statement yet by a member of the House Democratic leadership team. It also comes amid a hushed internal debate over how best to proceed. Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s top lieutenants have, until

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey on Tuesday proposed investing $100 billion in historically black colleges and universities and other minority-serving institutions, a broad proposal in a Democratic field that has offered varying plans to prop up this longstanding yet struggling arm of the educational system. Many H.B.C.U.s, as historically black colleges and universities are commonly known, have faced widespread financial woes recently, with some schools losing accreditation and facing plummeting enrollment. Mr. Booker’s proposal comes at a precarious time for his presidential campaign: Despite crossing the 200,000 individual-donor threshold last month, he is still short four qualifying polls for

Sen. Kamala Harris would have been an excellent president. But it was never going to happen. The elephant in the room was just too big. She is a woman and she is black. And in the aftermath of Donald Trump, she never had a chance at gaining the kind of broad support needed to keep her campaign financially viable. That’s why she abruptly withdrew from the race on Tuesday. America isn’t progressive enough to elect a black woman as head of state, any more than it was when Shirley Chisholm ran in 1972. It’s questionable whether our country can elect a woman, period.
